Where To Get Proper Valencia News
By: Cesar | July 15th, 2008
In light of yesterday’s stupid, inane news item about Valencia in MARCA, I thought it would be wise to share where I get proper, legitimate Valencia news.
I’ll also list where I connect with like-minded fans.
Forums and discussion groups can be wonderful places to get breaking news and connect with fellow Valencia supporters.
I’ve met some wonderful people through these places.
Obviously, this blog is a wonderful way to network with Che aficionados. But there are many other resources out there for fans who don’t want to trudge through the mud that is MARCA.
This isn’t to put down MARCA. They have their place in the Spanish sports press. In fact, they’re the #1 selling newspaper in all of Spain, sports or otherwise. They’re popular. Very popular. But therein lies the problem. People read what they write and take it as gospel.
Yesterday’s news story was so devoid of meaning, it boggles the mind. Never mind if it was true or not. What purposes does it serve? Like their constant posturing for Cristiano Ronaldo (which is reminiscent of their pursuit of Fat Ronaldo, Beckham, Zidane), their brand of journalism does nothing more than to serve themselves.
So read MARCA if you like.
I do. Every day.
But if you want to read real news, go somewhere else.
It’s like this: you want information about the 2008 US Presidential election, don’t go to the Sun newspaper or the National Enquirer. Go to the New York Times and the Guardian.
Please feel free to list where you get your news and where you go to chat with and connect with like-minded Valencia fans.
News
The first thing I suggest you do is go to Google, type in Valencia, click enter, then click the news tab on top.
It will look something like this here. Most if not all the news will be about our beloved. It’s an easy, efficient way to get the current news in one quick step.
Of course, if you want Valencia news in English, the preferred site is goal.com. There’s just one problem. The only thing goal.com does is translate articles from MARCA and AS into English. So often times, it’s the same rubbish you’d find in MARCA.
Sometimes, they have Spanish Debates (editorial pieces) that can be interesting, like yesterday’s article about David Villa and loyalty.
Just take it with a grain of salt.
Now, if you speak/read Spanish, your options are greater.
My preferred sites are:
- Super Deporte, the Valencia sports news paper
- Las Provincias, who have a very good Valencia section full of insight
- Levante EMV, which is similar to Las Provincias
- AS, who I trust more than MARCA … but not by much …
I don’t like the Valencia CF official website much. It’s about the worst official club site I’ve ever seen.
They’re in the process of overhauling it, so let’s see what comes up before it’s included here.
Forums
There are a multitude of places to connect with people. Some of these places are also wonderful sites to find breaking news or little rumors about the team you’d otherwise not find in the mainstream press.
- My favorite is Xtratime.org … it’s the most comprehensive English site I’ve found. Meaning, the most people posting …
- BigSoccer has a decent forum, although not many people post …
- One of the better forums is run by SoccerPulse … they have quite the vibrant community.
- Foroche.com recently opened up an English language forum … great stuff from the pre-eminent Valencia football board.
Again, Spanish wins out. There are more forums out there in Spanish than English.
- The aforementioned Foroche.com is hands down the largest Valencia CF community on the Internet. They even have their own supporter’s club. Huge following and huge active community …
- Sentiment Che runs not only a wicked blog, but a great forum as well.
- Ciberche.net has a pretty active community. They also run a news site that’s available in English, Valenciano and castellano.
There are a multitude of blogs out there, but I don’t really read them as much as I would like.
Also, if you’re from the UK, make sure to check out Che-UK, Tristan White’s formidable supporter’s club. They’re a wonderful forum and news site for all things Valencia as well as being an official supporter’s club (penya).
That’s all I have. See? You don’t need MARCA after all … unless you want a good chuckle!!
You have any other sites you frequent for Valencia news? Please post them here and let’s add them to the list!!

I think I’ll have to learn how to speak or read Spanish. *sigh*…I’ve tried so hard but I think it’s next to impossible for me.
Thanks for the links to the websites in English! They’re quite useful!Posted from

Finally a rumor(Eto’o) which is favorable for Valencia and gets all fans excited…;) Dont know what to make of it, but I’m more concerned about not selling players fast enough or giving them away for free.
Does anyone know if Gavilan was let off to Getafe for free?
