Welcome Back Davey and El Clasico
By: Cesar | December 13th, 2008
Short one today.
First off, we face Espanyol, the other Barcelona side.
Game’s at 2pm EST and it’s the appetizer to the Big Show, El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Here’s Goal.com’s preview and while I probably shouldn’t read their site given the flak I give them, I’ve never been called consistent, so there you go …
They have us winning 2-1, what with Espanyol in a state of disarray. I’m surprised goal.com hasn’t called them the new Valencia recently. Oh wait …
Anyways, didn’t I tell you David Villa and David Silva weren’t going anywhere?
Sporting director Fernando said, ‘David Villa and David Silva aren’t going anywhere.’
So that’s that.
Speaking of, Silva makes his return to the pitch with us tonight, three months after ankle surgery. Welcome back, Davey! We missed you and kept the bed warm for you …
He looks excited to be back in that pic to the left, eh? What’s he staring at? The Valencia bat mascot? Manolo? Espanyeta? Weird …
Finally, today’s the biggest game of them all, the Grand Daddy of Hyberbole and Cliche, El Clasico between the Merengues and Cules.
Personally, I wish a hole would open up in the middle of the pitch and swallow both teams whole, but that’s not what will happen.
I would also love to see something along the lines of a WWF brawl take place. Maybe Atletico Madrid’s players could sit behind Real’s bench, Kun Aguero calling Raul out and while the ref’s back is turned, hit Guti with a steel chair until the blonde-haired Beckham wanna be is twitching with pain, lying in a pool of his own blood …
Oh, sorry. I went off on a tangent there …
Anyways, it should be an exciting match, pulsing with drama. These games always seem to live up to the hype and I’d expect the same for this one, what with Juande Ramos in the Darth Vader role and Lionel Messi so perfectly suited to Luke Skywalker.
It’s Barca 3-1, with Messi coronated best player on the planet.
What do you think?

@Daniel, well said mate. I was actually impressed by Moretti today, and I have been his biggest critic this season. Hope it wasn’t a momentary thing.

you know Cesar.. i just read what you wrote! hahaha.. that was funny man !!
well, about our game and Fuck madrid’s game anyways…
i guess Vicente should play from the start in Madrid’s match.. he is experienced.. we all saw how Mata was hanging from alves’ pocket the last game.. Vicente played much of these games and knows how to deal with them.. and bring on Mata on the 2nd half.. or substitute Vicente with Silva.. just an opinion and i hope Emery knows how to read English haha!
@ Fayez.. Renan doesn’t talk 0.1% on the goal.. nothing man.. nothing.. i’m with Almendras.. yea Kameni is way better.. but you know.. Renan got weird hair.. just like Canizares.. so this might work!! haha.. MANNN Renan’s hair looks like he’s still 8 years old!
anyways.. AMUNT .. and please our beloved smart ass Unai.. keep Manuel playing the whole game next time.. ( if anyone can tell me he didn’t get his 5th card tonight )..

hi all ,
how r u ????
NICE to see our canarian back , whatever the results .
@ Cesar : ” Personally, I wish a hole would open up in the middle of the pitch and swallow both teams whole, but that’s not what will happen. ” WOW u seems very aggressive , LOYAL to our beloved , though i personally wanted the BOTH TEAMS TO LOSE
( don’t know how )
BTW when the league gonna be stopped ? i think we need a BREAK to reshape the team .
thanx

I think the goal wasnt Renan’s mistake though a super goalie, like Kameni might have done better.
Villa needs a break or some sort of shock..probably starting Moro instead of him would be good and then he would have more fire when he comes on as a sub.
I’m glad we won..thats what matters most.

The thing about Vicente is he always gets injured.

You guys are overrating Kameni. The guy has many moments of sheer MADNESS!

@ Mohammed: But Kameni can really save a team. Seriously im OK with a goalkeeper letting in one howler every 10 or so matches as long as he saves the team. The Espanyol defenders werent that great today but Kameni was always covering for them. If it werent for Kameni Espanyol would have lost by a much bigger margin. I still think Asenjo is better, but Kameni is my 3rd best goalkeeper in la liga (after Casillas and Asenjo).
I really wish I could put more trust in Renan but im so used to us having a super goalkeeper like Canizaries (who im pretty sure would have done something about our first goal today). If I rate Renan over all his performances so far him and Albelda are the weakest Valencia players this year (with Marchena a close third). He’s just not good enough for Valencia.

Anyway I gotta admire the spirit of Madrid in the Classico today, they really shocked me and played well (I expected a bloodbath).
Juande Ramos made his first mistake as Madrid manager when he played his strongest XI against Zenit during the weekend (probably to give the team some confidence in a win?). But it was the wrong move since the players were really fatigued towards the end and that is when Barca got the goal.
Im pretty sure its going to be a tough match against Madrid next week. Does Moretti have 5 cards already? So he is missing the match? Im not sure if Fernandes has 5 cards too?

Didn’t watch the game, only saw our goals, but man, what a beauty by Villa & Vicente! The latter shold really start against Madrid.
Renan? Forget about his substitution, we’re not buying any goalkeepers any soon…Posted from

@ Ali
I’m getting myself some chocolade rice right now man, good breakfast!Damn man since i was playing tourist and getting myself utterly wasted again, a lot has happened!!! Thanks 7amanito for keeping me informed! It seems we got very lucky (like we did before this season) and we should be thankful to the ref for helping us out!?!? Whats up with our team, we always have so much quality but it just doesnt seem to work… Maybe its time like some said to bring Vicente back again, and play Mata is lesser games. Plus Silva must be on asap, we need him bad!

I didnt watch the match but man….. What a nice strike by Albiol considering the fact that he is a defender and Vicente’s goal play was amazing…!!!!!!!!!!
Hope Villareal loses some points today….

@Nilton: To be honest I hope Villarreal and Sevilla get a draw, I dont want Sevilla breathing down our necks all the time
And I hope Atletico lose as well so we can have a more clear top 4. As for Vicente, he seems to be the ultimate super-sub, he’s scored 4 goals already in la liga and he barely played! If the guy was playing every match as a regular he’d probably have goals in double figures already.

Good to see we are back to our winning ways after last week. Kameni did make some very good saves for them during the game, but Renan did OK as well. He is clearly improving more and more each game. Silva coming back also does wonders for the team.
I am glad to see Soriano and management making moves like cutting Hildebrand and Helguera. Too often, players are kept on teams for no reason. Cutting our losses and trying to bring in new players only helps the team stay sharp and competitive.
I really believe we are just a few players away from being one of the best clubs in the world. We have the stars, we just need the consistency. Hopefully we can make it happen! AMUNT!
2nd place Valencia! (for now anyways!)

@ Ali : Its just proof that Juande Ramos wasnt the reason for their success. They have very good scouts we really should try and get one of them if we can.

anybody know anything about our goalkeeping coach? i think renan might have potential with some serious coaching.i thought he was at fault last night but once i saw the replay i dont think anybody could have saved it.
as for albeldas woefull pass.how long have i been saying the bloke is no good and five bellies koeman had the right idea…….

I agree with you bob, it’s about time Albelda steps down or is trated to another team. He is one of our weak links. As for Renan, he need some coaching in order to make him a world class goalie, I’m sure he will get there soon. Amunt Sempre!
