i dont think that we played that poorly.. Chelsea is a far supperior team and we held them fairly well till Drogba broke through near the end. But Valencia seem to shine for the first 20 minutes of all our games then try their best not to lose for the rest of the game.

Like ive always said its too bad we have no central playmaker like Riquelme. We need some fast paced attacking midfielders .. all we do is play wings. Gee thats not gonna be predictable or anything.

Cesar, for your next blog can you please write about how bad we miss Ayala. He’s one player I can’t seem to live without. Albiol is not the player. He is simply badly beat by Drogba.

The game was garbage all around. The first 30 minutes or so Valencia played okay. Just okay. After that, well, it was a dog’s breakfast. I don’t think either team deserved a win.

This, the Valencia 07/08 edition, is a collection of individuals and not a team. No unity, no harmony, no….well simply it relies on the talents of a small handful of individuals to save the team from what should be either a draw or a certain loss. Shame fernandes couldn’t play yesterday, as he might have given some semblance of a decent central midfielder, not that Marchena was bad, it’s just that Albelda was awful.

As for central defenders, I thought Albiol was okay/good. He held Drogba in check for most of the match, shouldn’t that be recognized? He seems to have put on a bit of muscle. helguera wasn’t bad either. The biggest problem that Valencia seems to have is that it’s midfield can’t work together or just flat out sucks. For this, I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of QSF.

Surely the clock must be ticking on Quique.

albiol doesnt need rest.. albiol is not the class of defenders to stop a striker like drogba.. drogba needs a maldini or a canavaro. all our defenders are good when playing against Getafe or Sivilla if they r in thier best shape (our defenders).. but against teams like Chelsea or Man united and even Arsenal… they r not in tht level to really stop the world class strikers. i mean picture what C.ronalda would do to Moretti if we ever played against Man united. i think Moretti would fall flat on his face an cry. The only real class defender we have is miguel. letts just thank god shevchenko didnt play. hope we could buy a real defender and maybe buy Van der vaart in january.

the ref was shit… joe cole ws handball but he didn’t stop the game…and albiol is tooo tired to chase drogba…albiol should need more rest…

joaquin n silva threw many chances…joaquin shouldn’t dribble the ball too long…and bad heading from silva… he must take more heading lesson

I trully hate Chelsea! Of all the FC’s in the world Chelsea is the only one I trully hate. We had our chances but in the end we lost and we really miss Ayala out there. Joaquin choked and Baraja should of done better. Villa of course was steller. Zigic is going to be a stud we just need to give him some more playing time. Overall we played a lot better than we have been.

Interesting point about Arizmendi – I remember him having a great game against Real last season for Depor, but is he really the answer against a team of Chelsea’s quality?

Valencia was the better team overall but you can’t be upset with that result, did Quique really think Helguera was an appropriate replacement for Ayala? If we lived in a world without injuries Valencia would probably be the best team in Spain, but what shocking depth…when you rely on a Marchena-Albelda midfield to create and old man Baraja and Arizmendi to change the game around you know there is a problem.

Villa’s goal was pure class though.

ARGHH!!!! But I won’t deny Chelsea their victory, Joe Cole was excellent today and Drogba is the best striker in the world… and we let Arizmendi onto the field, far less onto the bench and into the stadium to begin with.
