Valencia Players Buy Fans Tickets
By: Cesar | May 21st, 2009
Add this to the long list of reasons why I love Valencia CF.
Reason #124,645: Valencia’s players have reached into their pockets to help fans buy tickets to the pivotal, all-important match against Villarreal on Saturday.
You’ll remember these being the same players who hadn’t received a dime in salary for almost 2 months. The same players who practically played for free match after match.
Now, they’re paying for our tickets to a match that’s just about a final – a showdown with state rival Villarreal at El Madrigal, 45 minutes from Valencia city.
Valencia’s players will pay 40,000 euros ($55,140) towards the cost of 2,000 tickets for Saturday’s match at Villarreal as the two clubs battle for a lucrative place in next year’s Champions League.
Fans will only have to pay 20 euros for each ticket rather than the full 40 euros, the club said on their website.
“We’ve tried to join forces so that we can feel close to the fans and also feel like it’s our stadium,” captain Carlos Marchena said.
I feel bad knowing Curro Torres is digging under his mattress, pulling out wrinkled-up Euros (and pieces of months-old tortilla) to help us go to Villarreal for this match.
But what a statement … how awesome that the players and the club think so much of the fans as to help them come to a match; to pay half the cost of a ticket so they can come and scream their heads off for Their Beloved.
I love it. Great gesture. Much appreciated! Wish I was there to take advantage.
For those of you in the area, get in line and get a ticket! It’s the least you can do for the club!
Another week, another final. Should be a good one, considering the club’s paying for half the ticket!

Man apparently Bilbao didn’t even train today, doesn’t seem that they interested in beating Athlectico. I hope by some miracle they win and we beat Villireal i pray it happens. Amunt!!!!!!!!!!

Bilbao should have some pride and try and beat a team from Madrid…I mean the whole Basque area have their own problems with the capital so what better revenge than preventing them from qualifying in next year’s CL ?

I know many of you watch the Val games online, but for those of us who prefer to watch on GolTV, we’re going to be disappointed this weekend. Why? Because the idiots at GolTV, spurred on by the millions of fairweather Barca fans, are going to show the Barca-Osasuna match – GoraOsasuna! – instead of the match of the weekend, Valencia-Villareal. Nonsense. I’m going to write Ray Hudson – ay yay – a letter.

@ Conor
its been a long season, even our boys took 2 days off after the Madrid win, so why should one day of rest be a problem?? I have no doubt about the pride and professionalism of Bilbao’s squad…Posted from

Just give Bilbao players some money like Real or Barca do and they will have no motivation problems with Atletico.

Well, boys, I didn’t know we were so hated in the offside community. I just took a look at the Patetico Madrid blog, and this is what I found:
Anthony (Sevilla Blogger): Just thought I’d ask a simple question on here. Where are all the Valencia shit-talkers now? Hmm… Even though I can’t stand you guys Al, I’m kind of sick of everything Valencia in general so it was definitely good to see you do them over on the weekend.
Al (Atletico Blogger): And the Valencia shit talkers are too busy worrying over the yearly “will Villa and Silva leave” dilemma because they didn’t get into the CL again lol
Can’t wait till we roll over Villareal and Bilbao take care of Patetico in San Mames – AMUNT!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I was a bit surprised by that too.

I just posted this in the Atletico blog:
@ Al and Anthony
Valencia aggregate score against Atletico this season: 3-2 Valencia.
Valencia aggregate against Sevilla this year: 3-1 Valencia.

They’re jealous. They can’t have the fan base of a Valencia … how fair weather are Atletico fans? Sevilla? C’mon. If it wasn’t for ex-Valencia players like Javi Navarro and Palop, where would they be? They even needed Palop to score a goal to win the UEFA Cup a few years ago!
Let them talk … at least Valencia fans aren’t going anywhere.Posted from

Hi, all the liga 1st div will be played at 9pm Sat. except Madrid and Mallorca which will be 9pm Sun.
Villareal v Valencia will be shown by Valencia tv together with appropiate other matches.
Emery is considering Pablo on the left and Joaquin on the right. I hope he has the sense to do this and for the full 90 minutes. These are the only 2 players with the clever enough technique to take the ball up to Villa riding point. The rest just boot it upfield and back it comes again with the defenders. If Caesar can just HOLD the ball and keep a clean sheet, one goal will be enough,
in that way we might just make it, it wont be easy.

Cesar, I was never referring to you when I said shit-talkers but if Al hadn’t deleted half the comments left by your fellow Valencia fans then you would have known what I was talking about.
As for Palop and Navarro; Well, Javi was technically at Valencia for 7 seasons, 3 of those on the sidelines due to a knee injury and another year being loaned out. He made a total of 56 appearances, 52 of which were as a substitute. Palop was overshadowed by Cañizares (remember him) for years and only made 43 appearances for you guys.
That wasn’t just a random rant to show how well I know my statistics but rather to show you how both players are what they are because of Sevilla. We bought them at the time because they were cheap, not necessarily good. We took a chance on both and just luckily ended up with two world class players. Sure they were both products of the Valencia academy but at the same time you can’t say that’s why we’ve been successful.

I didn’t see what my fans wrote, but I read what you said! That’s a cheap shot, IMO.
I can get the same stats, mate. It’s called the internet.
All I’m saying about those two are that they’re Valencia products. So for you to say you’re sick of all things Valencia, look at your squad and the great things they did there. Valencia may not be responsible. But they’re from Valencia. They wore my club’s escudo with pride and diligence, injured, bench player or not …
I’m sorry that Al deleted all the comments.

Cesar, I was not referring to you, Timothy, Kyle or a few others, but there was definitely a lot of pretty rude insults been thrown around. Obviously there’s no problem with saying “Valencia will destroy Atléti” or “Amunt!” or whatever else but it was taken pretty far out of hand.
I know you guys have come to my blog to trash talk and I’ve done the same but it was all in competitive nature, not in a negative one.
As for the stats – of course they were from the Internet, but I just wanted to prove my point. I see what you’re saying though and when I said “All things Valencia” I was referring more to the “shit” talkers and just how your team was up our ass until last week. I felt threatened, no lie.
Either way, I definitely never meant any disrespect so sorry if you took it like that. I really don’t have anything against Valencia it was just those certain select few people who make me angry.
