Valencia-Dynamo

By: Cesar | February 26th, 2009

As today’s Las Provincias says, ‘An unstable Valencia CF plays a volatile part of their season against an unpredictable Dinamo’ … or something to that effect.

It’s an important game, no doubt. But then again, it seems like every game is important these days.

Let’s take our thoughts away from runaway budgets and failed payments to the actual drama on the field of play.

Our Beloved hold a 1-1 away goal advantage against the tough Ukrainian side, courtesy of a David Silva goal in a snowy Lobanovsky Dynamo Stadium last week. But that’s not a safe bet.

The last 6 times we left someone’s ground with a 1-1 going back to the Mestalla, we’ve lost 4.

Also, one would think the home advantage would be helpful. Nope.
In our last 8 European matches at the Mestalla, we’ve won a grand total of ONE.
So pay attention: We’re not assured a spot in the quarterfinals just yet.

Coach Unai Emery will be without the services of Brazilian startlets Edu ‘Porcelain’ Gaspar, Renán Brito and Thiago Carleto, all injured and David Albelda, who is sanctioned.

Today’s squad? César, Guaita, Curro Torres, Alexis, Maduro, Marchena, Albiol, Moretti, Asier del Horno, Joaquín, Fernandes, Baraja, Vicente, Pablo, Mata, Morientes, Villa and Silva

Maduro’s good play as right back in last week’s league match against Deportivo could see him back in that spot, giving big-boned, injured Miguel a rest. Emiliano Moretti is also out, courtesy of injury. More Asier ‘Nightclub’ Del Horno action for us?
Could we possibly see a Vicente sighting as well? That’d be nice, eh?

As for Dynamo, who knows what we’ll see? This is only their 2nd match after their 2-month long winter break, so rust had to be a factor. Historically, they’ve only one once in 10 visits to Spain, a 4-0 victory over Barcelona in the group phase of the 1997 Champions League, a hat-trick by Andrei Shevchenko and one by Sergei Rebrov sending the Nou Camp faithful home unhappy.

A bright spot for the Ukrainian giants will be the return of their young international Aliev, whose been sitting on the sidelines suspended the past few weeks.

Unfortunately, striker Milevskiy, who scored against us last week, will sit regards of the red card he received last week. That could mean Kiev play with a sole striker, which I suppose could benefit us.

Then again, with our defense? Who knows?

Del Horno? Alexis? Marchena? Does it even matter? It’s not like any of them are any good, save Alexis, who has played once in three months.

This is a tricky match to predict. I’m sure the crowd will be in a frenzy. I’m sure the squad knows they need this game, more for pride and peace of mind than anything else.

So what do you make of it? I say 2-1 to Our Beloved.
David Villa, who should start, will score a double. Assists from Joaquin and Vicente.

No live blog today, as I am en route to Manhattan while the match is ongoing.
Feel free to text me the score as it comes in (for all those who have my phone number).

Also, make sure to check out Armada Naranja’s preview of the match. It’s shaping up to be a good Valencia fan site and one we hope does very well!

AMUNT! We really need this one …

Relatively easy? I doubt. Right now, the relatively easy match any team in la liga can get is against us.

Before I start rambling, I would just like to point out that I have been drinking

We HAVE to continue to support the club. Fuck Soriano. Fuck Marchena. Fuck Albiol. Fuck Soler. Fuck Silva. Fuck Albelda. They are IDUVIDUALS at the club. We support THE CLUB, VALENCIA, not induvidulas at it or the people that run it. We need to continue to support the club by posting messages on forums, buying shirts, etc. This way we help create more fans. The more people that watch, the more exposure the club gets, which equals more revenue. THE CLUB is bigger than any one person.

Let’s be honest. In the summer, Villa and Silva will leave. Maybe Mata and Joaquin as well. Also Marchena (I won’t miss him), Fernandes, Miguel. The club will continue without them. We will be good again. By good I mean top 4 and challenging for the title in la Liga. It WILL TAKE TIME though.

We have to be realistic. We PROBABLY won’t finish in the top 5. That means NO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE or UEFA CUP. We will also lose most of our top players. But we all have known this for a while now. Nothing has really changed. It’s just that this result against Kiev has put everything in perspective. Valencia will survive this bad spell. No matter if it’s a bad spell of 1 year, 2 years, or 5 years. WE WILL BE BACK. We just have to hang in.

I said that I wouldn’t change my avitar back to Valencia until we start playing well. WE ARE NOT playing well at the momnet, but they need our support, no matter how small our support is.

    AMUNT VALENCIA! AMUNT!

@ FAYEZ Hi you are right about the defenders playing up front, that is what I have been saying all along since we lost to Sporting and Racing early on, that was 6 easy points thrown away. Our defenders are all near the opponents goal then a ball goes to a right or left winger and our guys look like carthorses trying to catch a race horse. Albiol did a lovely run through the field yesterday but he wasnt back home to stop the goal was he.
Caesar was very very inadequate, if his name was Guaita you would be all blasting him to Hell. He hardly had any attempts to stop. Kiev goalie had many more dangerous shots and was brilliant. We fooled him because he had his eye on our forwards and Marchena andDel Horno did the business.
So now we know. We put Fernandes centre spot up front
with Albiol and Marchena on the right and Del Horno and Alexis on the left. Maduro and Miguel mid field(great combination) Which leaves Silva left defender Villa in centre and Joaquin right defence. Guaita in goal or you could try Angulo as he hasnt been there yet.
Then you would see some football,
    Its worth a try………..Adios

@ Siva & Kyle : Good Words , but it depends on the MEN BEHIND THE STAGE , the Board , Directors , Staff ,,,, THEY should have the Experience to Manage to get out of the Coming Tough 2-3 Years in about 4-5 Years !
it is more about selling bad players getting good youngsters ( Cheap Price ) .
IT IS ALL ABOUT GOOD MANAGEMENT !!!!

we cant keep hiring and firing people..we will be loosing most of our stars in the summer..so maybe emery can do the trick he performed with almeria..frankly i blame albiol for the second goal..we had started playing well and were hitting them on the counter until albiol (mfucker)left the defense wide open…

There is it…The mediapro TV deal and Kappa deal are done for next season…Next they have started negotiating with unibet for the shirt sponser deal…
still no news about the sale of plots which is important…we need to support them..Soriano is slowly accomplishing the things..but it would be hell when everyone is criticizing him and saying bad things about him also the ex president tries to get him thrown off presidency….I dont know what these people want but their personal feud is the main reason these deals are pending..if the bloody fat soler would also chip in and support soriano ,i think everything would have been done by now….

we wernt outplayed last night.lady luck just chose not to show us her landing strip we could have been 4 up after 35 minutes.i made an ill advised attempt to do a pitch invasion at the nou mestalla but got chased ( waddled after ) by a security guard that made juan solar look posativley anorexic.

we need a playmaker and a captain that leads more by example than machena, but they looked completley gutted by the result

at 2 am just coming home and disturbed a gang ramraiding the bar at the end of my road.dont know who was more surprised them or me,lucky for me they run off into the orange groves.what a wierd strange day.14 hours out the house for a home game is a new record for me.

@ Siva. You are insane if you think we will have the same squad next year. Som of you guys are in denial. We are screwed. Who wants to play for club that can’t pay them?

Also, Mehmet Topal has been awful this year at Galatasaray. Guaita looks better in goal than Topal does in CM. He has talent, but he has been woeful this year.

The TV, shirt, and other deals mean nothing. We ALREADY have deals like them in place. Yea, we’ll get a little more money, but not 400 million euros, which is how much IMMEDIATE debt we have.

Lucho gonzales wouldn’t be a bad buy. the guy has the balls to lead valencia to victory Marchena doesn’t. if i was valencia i would sell curro torres, hugo viana, moro, angulo and del horno. I would buy ze roberto from bayern. Yes he is a grandpa but he runs like if he was 18. He is way better than albelda or baraja. I would also bring back EVER BANEGA and ZIGIC. summer buy Lucho and ZE ROberto

Klose and ballack…because they are two people who are i admire the most…klose work rate is great and is excellant finisher, just what we need to replace morientes…he might be 31 but that is the only way we will get players after 30’s or under 20’s..

Ballack is class..a man required in times of desperation…He reflects the phrase ” When the going gets tough, the tough get going”. Again he might be 32 but still is the guy needed for our relatively young team…

Well i read that they have signed the Tv and dress sponsor…for 270 M for next five years

mediapro is paying 45 million for next year and 49 M/Y for the next 4..that is 241…so it leaves 29 for 5 years

comes around 5.8 Million per year
