Transfer Round-up

By: dan_c | May 18th, 2011

The season is not yet out and yet the rumour-mill is grinding back into full action. Here is a quick surmise of 4 players recently linked with Valencia. Take each with a pinch of salt. Try (especially Javier) to forget for a moment whether or not the transfer is economically realistic (;)) and rate them or your wanting to see them in our team.

Dare I even hope? Probably not. It would be so gut-wrenching if it turned out to be wrong. But, my dear ladies and gentles, reports this morning are linking Bojan Krkic with a transfer to Mestalla.

The Reports

Claims are that seeing as Bojan, despite making 100+ appearances for world diving and acting champs Barcelona since debuting in 2007, has had enough of being a non-starter on 5 days out of 6. Despite being just 20 years old. Allegedly Barca would enforce a pre-arranged buy-back price with Valencia, as the kid’s potential is undoubted.

The Reactions

Me, I have been arguing for at least another addition to our front line (although less important than a new CB). This would be perfect, in a player with grand potential, already a good La Liga frontman, who is quick, crafty and intelligent, and who would fit with Valencia like a duck to water, or Johnnie with a foreign city night-life (see previous post, “How to Catch Madrid”, for explanation).

And, quite frankly, its Bojan. What a player. I hold him in huge regard. Remember when he and Gio DS broke onto the scene and barca was drooling, the world was cowering in fear?

How I would LOVE to see bojan in the white and black.

The Worries

However, a few things are pulling me back. Firstly these reports could come to nought or be utter lies. Secondly, the idea of a buy-back clause always scares me, in a similar way that owning half of a player in Serie A does, BECAUSE we don’t have full control over the rights to his contract. I couldn’t sit too comfortably watching a fantastic player get so good that he then gets taken away from us again, back the behemoth that so monopolises European (and world) football.

However

For me, tonight as a football fan, I will sleep deeply and wonderfully with dreams of the below gracing my beloved Los Che in the future.

Kevin Gameiro

See earlier post (A Massive Chance) for a detailed analysis. Reports this morning state that an agreement is close to being reached with PSG (the club he has supported all his life). Valencia look set to miss out. Thoughts on this?

Miroslav Klose

Former great, but never wonderful for club, always country. That and his aging years are a worry but I’d still go for him simply because its great to have a Pippo Inzaghi type figure with masses of experience to pop off the bench now and again and produce some magic. After seeing him live at the World Cup (in my own city, nogal, what a time!) I certainly rate him.

Adil Rami

Solid young centre-back. Precisely what the doctor ordered in my opinion.

Lastly, the return of Manuel Fernandez

from Besiktas on loan. Played 20 times. 3 goals. Keep or be rid of?

PS, enjoy the links and visuals. It took a piece of criticism from my dear mother (who to be frank, finds preparing marmalade on  toast and raising 5 kids, ( I know right, respect!) more interesting than football) to get my act together. She said that just words and the lack of visuals is the kind of reason why much of the world is illiterate. ummmmm….okay. never question my mum.

PPS, Iv always been a big fan of captions making seemingly ordinary photos become Hilaaaaaaariouuus, so if you have any ideas, post them. Iv tried to be as creative as I can with the photos used.

I I can certainly see the Miroslave Klose ones throwing up a few pearlers. Let me know.

Each photo took 18 minutes to load. %$#@^&%*

PPPS Hulk and Falcao to Valencia! Although the first half has been shit.

Amunt

Much love

Spurs (my english passion) are getting shirts by Under Armour from 2012 2013. After seeing Hannover 96s kits this season, I am very excited.

Llorente is hoping to lower season ticket prices to attract more local fans.

Personally, I think local fans should be ashamed of themselves. They only bought 42,500 tickets from the available 45,000. Thats even after the club pushed the deadline as far as possible.

In a city with over 800,000 people (3rd largest in Spain), surely there are 45,000 well off fans that can afford them?

The economic situation alone cannot explain this. Surely there are 45,000 fans in a city of 800,000 that can afford them? Even our average attendance wasnt great this season, it was slightly higher than Sevilla and less than Atletico.

There should be more support for the club from local fans at this time, they cant just show up when we’re winning trophies and then forget the club when its in debt. They have to improve their attitude towards the club.

IMO, I think Valencia fans can learn a lot from German fans or even the English for their passion towards their club.

Fayez.. i bought season tickets but they were behind the net and still cost me over 1000 euroes.

In a country where the majority of the population only makes 1000 euroes a month it is not easy to sacrifice that kind of money.

Wages are down.. prices are up. Valenciafor the first time in a long time did not make their target of selling all the season tickets.. and it happened in the same year as the economic crisis.

Also populationalone means nothing. Keep in mind we have 3 teams in this area all in 1st division. Not everyone is a Valencia FC fan. We also have many other profesional level sporting evens now all competing for peoples money.

Attendance level wise Valencia does quite well. PSG from Paris for instance also does not sell out their matches on average 40,902 tickets ave 2009-2010. yet the population of Paris is over 2 million. Average income is also much higher.
Manchester City who is currently on a popular streak averages 45,949 in attendance with a population of
    over 2 million as well.
Compare that with Valencia a smaller city has an average attendance of 46,894 with a much lower population.

So personally i think support is pretty good all considering.

Valencians do have alot of passion for thier club.

But Valencians are not German or British.. we dont drink as much.. we dont shout as much.. we dont punch each other as much.

We are happy.. we are warm.. AMUNT VALENCIA !

Javier we don’t have to go to Germany or England to see how a fans should be for example the Sevilla fans were still making a lot of noise and were still celebrating even when they were 1-6 down and I quite like the Bilbao’s supporters I just wish we had more good fans and that would create a better atmosphere which will result in better results.
As for the Transfers I want Gameiro really badly we can do without him be we will do better with him and that is kind of why I want him he is a real talent and I think is one of those players that you can’t leave you need to get you hands on.
As for Bojan he is overrated and don’t tell me he has potential only because he is hyped does not make him talented or a potential he has never proven himself not even in small matches and I doubt he will even be a decent player, Klose is only he is a fantastic player but his age can be a problem and even if we was younger I would not be sure if I want him because he is always good for his country and not that good for his club.
    Klose Country:
106 matches 61 goals (0.56 goal per game)
    Klose Bayern Muchin:
149 matches 52 goals (0.35 goals per game)
I did Bayern because that were we should look at since we can’t do back when we was at Bremen (age 25-28).
Rami will be good and we should find someone as his partner.
And I think we should sell Fernandes and Joaquin as well as some other players and get replacement for some parts if possible

Who would be an affordable right winger of Joaquins caliber for 7 million?

Klose wouldnt perform any better than Soldado in Valencia IMO.

Bojan is an enormous talent but only if he stays put in our club..none of that buy back nonsense.

    Barcelona 78540 19
    Real Madrid 69130 18
    Atletico Madrid 41842 19
    Valencia 40326 19
    Sevilla 36368 19
    Athletic Bilbao 36078 19
    Espanyol de Barcelona 27614 18
    Malaga 25527 18
    Real Zaragoza 25026 19
    Real Sociedad 24616 18
    Hercules 21027 18
    Deportivo La Coruña 20866 18
    Sporting Gijón 20763 19
    Villarreal 18552 19

Villareal is truly impressive when you consider its a city with the population just over 50,000 people.

    @ Zizou,

youre welcome, lucky i’m in the same business so its my job to know, unlucky for Valencia i wont invest in Spain any day soon!

    @ Javier
I am surprised though, Germans are known to be very direct and emotionless. You would say the Spanish (and Valencians) should be more the party people, making good times, always enjoying life. But compare football clubs, somehow everything is the opposite!

Big props to Villarreal btw, they rock with such a small village. All thanks to Valencia CF’s ex Fernando Roig!

oh,, its been along time since i make a comment so its gd to be back hahahhah.
for the transfers i guess the only one from the suggested list is Rami coz we desperatally in need to work on the defense line.
Bojan is a good player but i dont think hes gonna add something to our team i mean hes not gonna be better than Aduriz or Soldado .
hell no !! we don need old players like Klose common we need to think lil bit about the future ,, instead we better think about a young talented players
to be honest i cant say anythin about Gameiro coz i dont know him.
i guess we should keep Ever for the next season it would be a lost for us if we lose him , hes good player & it expected to get more of him
our local fans issue is a complicated lil bit i mean its hard to blame them if the financial situations is hard but its really hard & so sad to see the empty places in mestalla but i guess only the local fans can judge about the situation & the clearest example is what Javier had mentioned befor …

Those are the seasons average attendance numbers Jafar.

valencia has a little over 40,000 average attendance. The stadium holds 55,000 aprox.

Now keep in mind 42,000 season tickets were sold. Meaning that on average 2000 season ticket holders dont show up.. not counting the tickets sold at the gate.

The reason is that Companies buy up lots of seasons tickets. So if Ford buys 100 seats for the season but doesnt have VIPS to send to the match those seats can sit empty. So alot of times even though there are empty seats the stadium is virtually sold out. They run at a 95% tickets sold to capacity on average.

As for German fans.. i dont know the germans i know arent emotionless and tend to be drinkers and partiers.

The Valencians i know drink and have fun but are not as wild drinkers or crazy as Canadians. I find generally the Northern people tend to drink more and be wilder in public.. not have more fun. Just a different type of fun.

This is generally speaking based on my experiences living in different countries.

In Canada i saw alot more drunks.. fights and wtf moments than in Spain. You go clubbing in Spain and its unlikely you will see a drunken brawl. Canada every club has several every night and there are Metal detectors on the door.

we allready have rami and alvez and llorente said we have 17 mil euros to spend. what i wonder is if we get to use the money from player sales.
juaquin, (fernandez or banega), maduro, miguel, moya, renan will probably be sold and really hope that money ist going to bancaja or a 74000 seater when we only need about 50000. we need to ctch up with our main rivals for the next season. pathetico, sevilla, villareal will be stronger

Jiwonsi where is it can you send a link?
Javier thanks and the numbers after that are the matches played right.
But their is one thing though I got a different average attendance because they don’t count the exact number but they around it so it can be off by some thousands buy whether it is sold or not it is half empty for too much of the time we need to fans support to do better.

For CB what if we just keep Ricardo Costa I know he hasn’t been good for the last matches but he was good at the start of the season and I would like to see how well he would do besides Rami I think we need to get Gameiro and a replacement for Miguel and those are my only concerns and another CB as back up or R Costa can be me the back-up with Dealbelda. And we need to try and keep most useful players but if they want to leave find a replacement first and then sell them, I will just see how things will go.

Anyone who thinks we should dump Joaquin must have missed seeing a lot of matches this season, he was vital to our performance. We go through this lucky dip ,trial and error every year and rarely come up with anything that makes a change. Anyone that definitely matches Joaquins ability are unlikely to be cheap or ignored by other clubs.
We do not need ‘Klose encounter of the third age’ He is 33 next month, thank you very much…Almendras
