The Silly Season
By: Cesar | June 16th, 2009While six of Our Beloved Valencia CF players ply their trade in South Africa for the Spanish national team at the Confederations Cup, we’re left to wonder how many of them will still be VCF players when they come back.
Many will turn their attention to star striker David Villa.
Of course, why wouldn’t you?
Ok, that cheesy ‘I am Legend’ video aside, Villa is the world’s top striker and our biggest footballing asset. But what to do, what to do?
If you’re gullible, you probably believed the Madrid press and MARCA, who said Villa was signed, sealed and delivered, Photoshopped to death on their cover with the Merengue kit on his lean Asturian frame.
Unfortunately, they were wrong. Villa isn’t set to don the white Madrid shirt at the Bernabeu with Florentino Perez and Alfredo Di Stefano flanking him, extolling the striker’s great scoring abilities. Not just yet anyways. First, we have to play the transfer dance … how much are we willing to sell Villa for? How much are Madrid willing to pay?
And will Madrid be where he goes? Could be Barcelona. Could be Manchester United. It could even be Valencia, of all places.
Yesterday, VCF sporting director Fernando Gomez stepped in to clarify any confusion about the Villa saga/soap opera/bad telenovela.
“There are two things that need to be cleared up. First, Valencia have never reached an agreement with anybody for Villa and second, as of right now, there have been no offers that have satisfied us,” he was quoted as saying by El Pais.
“There have been clubs abroad who are interested and they have made their bids, but the player prefers to remain at Valencia.
“In any case, it will be up to the president [Manuel Llorente] and the council to decide whether or not he leaves and determine what transfer fee is satisfactory.”
FC Barcelona are reportedly set to make an official €50 million offer, €40m in cash plus Martin Caceres and Bojan Krkic (on loan), a proposal that easily outmatches Madrid’s €25 million plus Alvaro Negredo bid.
Today, Real Madrid sporting director/cheerleader Jorge Valdano, a former VCF coach, piped in and tried not to appear smug, which is impossible for a man of his caliber.
“If Barca are prepared to offer €50 million, including Bojan and Caceres, for Villa, I would sell if I were Valencia, because we would not be able to arrive at that figure nor are we going to push it,” he said in an interview with Onda Cero and Radio Marca.
This after they spent almost €800 million on Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.
“We’ve been negotiating over the past week, but there were disagreements. It was mainly about money, but later on, there was also the issue of a including a player in the deal and that was causing an inflation. Everything seemed to be well on track but in the end, it all went astray.”
Basically, VCF wasn’t going to be pushed around by the likes of Real Madrid.
So while we’re in debt, need the money and have the chips to sell, we’re not going to be backed into a corner and sell at any price.
That’s the reality of it.
It’s the romantic transfer dance that takes place every summer between competing clubs, where everyone wants to get the most bang for their buck.
Right now, Valdano is the courtier, a rose in his mouth, clapping away while Fernando Gomez circles around, the hem of his dress twirling in the wind, trying to entice the Madrid sporting director into buying Villa for as much money as possible.
It’s an ugly thought …
Expect this transfer saga to go on and on and on and … you get the idea. This isn’t going away any time soon. I’d say by the end of August, we may have a resolution.
Fun, eh?
Today, a ‘fun’ look by goal.com at what VCF should do this summer. It’s interesting …
Who the f**k is Nicolas Fedor?

I think the BArca is BS because one 40 mil plus Bojan and Caceres on Loan is not 50 million if you look at it wisely!! Because we have no option to buy them and after a year they will leave!! So they are just sending Bojan to earn some minutes and when he develops they will get him BAck to form a great attack with Villa!! I hope we dont’t accept it because I will cry to see Villa play in a Blaugrana shirt and for what only a one year lone off Caceres and Bojan two overrated playerss!!

Djela
You are right about the deal not being the same, but Bojan is only 18 and he already has scored 22 goals for the first team @ FCB, over 800 goals in their youth, call him what u want, but this kid has a record unbeaten by anybody. Overrated?? In 4 years he will make Villa shine his shoes, one day this little fellow will be the best striker in the world and if Barcelona continue to support him like they do, maybe he can become their best striker ever!!!Posted from

True… But Bojan is achoker. When you expect him to excel, he fails. Yesterday, agaisnt Germany, hewas nowhere to be found. Moreover, when the senior squad called him for the Euro 08, he could have written history, but he declined the offer. The chances are that he wouldn’t have played. Just for the sake of the experience, he would have been there.
Bojan is somehow ridiculously overrated. I used to admire him a lot, but now, I’m quite reticent about him. If hew continues with such a mentality, he won’t get far.

@ adimente
but he is 18!! Can u really blame him?? Giving a kid so much responsability or pressure at such an age, i dont blame him for taking it a bit easy, his time will come for sure! I think its very good and admirable that he turned the Euro 08 down!!! And yeah maybe against Germany he was nowhere, i’ve seen enough matches where either Messi of CR7 were NOWHERE!!!Why do you wanna push these youngesters?? Too many young talents go for the big money, the big shot waaaay too early. Bojan knows he is in a very good spot, takes his time, knows his time will come, but just takes is easier so he can develop well. If that is a lack of mentality mate, than i think u have a bad dictionary. And there are thousands of recent example who prove my point, youngsters thinking to make it after they show a bit of brilliance, but than fade away as fast as they came. Bojan will for sure get there, with such a mentality!!

He may still become a great player but the fact that Barca are just loaning him out to us without a option to buy him, is treating us like a small kidd!! Barca and Madrid dont know what Villa’s Value is because some of their offers have really been rediculous!! I just want them to pay 40 mill and Bojan permanently or just 50 mill Cash or otherwise they can get the stepping!!

the way i look at this barca deal is
1.40 ME is 40ME not much to say.way enough for villa who is 28yo
2.we want bodies to cover every possible position even for one year until we land on our feet.
3.it will give more chance for our players to play like miku and aaron.
win win situation either way not to mention financialy.Posted from

Agree Mohamed, and who knows if we reject Caraces we could get 45 million and just Bojan, is that bad?? I think some of us here are overrating Valencia nowadays…

45 million plus Bojan permanently is not bad!! But the fact that they want to loan him out without a option to buy him doesn’t fit well with me! And personally for me if Kaka (27years) is worth 65 million, Villa should be worth 50 million!! Amunt

Just read that Sky Sports is saying Granero and Negredo plus 50 million euros for Villa and Albiol.
If it’s true, it’s not a bad deal.

Cesar: That is a great deal!! What is so funny from Madrid is they are basically trdaing Negredo for Villa, how stupid can you be!! Negredo is a great talent he will become much better and he is cheaper than Villa, but as we all know Madrid dont rate their own youth!! But still i dont believe it because Madrid said they wont give 40 million for Villa and now this?? Amunt!!

Real haven’t even bought Granero back from Getafe yet…

With that buy-back clause thing, if we offer more than the 5 million clause, does it than cancel the clause?? So say we offer 5,5 million to Getafe, i think their clause gets cancelled, right??

Hum? A raise of price plus another player? Wow, this in unlikely to be true. Real Madrid would never offer more than the previous offer plus another one of their player. This is absolute nonsense.
Very good and admirable? Or rather, disappointingly admirable? Well, I really hope than he can make it. Bojan deserves it. However, if he really wanted to, he would have been able to make his way in the team more often. Just look at Aguero!

Off Topic: Does anybody get Banega??? He was loaned out at Atletico doesn’t impress now he gets onother chance at Valencia and he doesn’t want to return?? This guy is just being Silly I dont get it waste of talent!! I hope we sell him quickly!! And does anybody notice that the Valencia forum is very popular even more popular tham MAdrid and maybe BArca!! Got Work Cesar and Amunttt!!!

Bojan has been pretty good for Barca this season. And he is definitely a future star. However, I’m not very keen on this loan business as its just a way of making him a star before they get him back again.
