The Fun Continues …
By: Cesar | July 8th, 2009And when I say fun, I should say ‘fun’ … I guess this beats selling the entire team to a bunch of overseas scammers, eh? Oh wait …
Anyways, what’s new with the ongoing soap opera/telenovela known as ‘As The Mestalla Turns?’
Let’s find out …
- If you read yesterday’s comments page, you know some of our fine readers have been knocking on doors and trying to find out all they can about Dalport. Tristan White, Rory and Johnnie Walker are our resident Woodward and Bernstein. Thanks, guys!
- Today begins the first round of the VCF capital increase. For more info, please click the link and make your way to VCF’s official site.
- Manuel Llorente gave a press conference today and came out swinging. Blunt and direct are two words we can say about it.
He channeled Cuba Gooding Jr.’s character from ‘Jerry Maguire’ and yelled, ‘Show me the money!’ at Soriano, saying that if the former VCF boss wanted power at the club, he’d need to show the green backs (or whatever color Euros are).
‘It’s clear to them (Dalport) that if the 500 million euros come, if that money comes, we (the VCF board) will give them a pasillo (a standing ovation), to put it in footballing terms.’
He went on to say that he knows nothing about Dalport except what’s been talked about in the press and that cleaning VCF’s image in Spain and around the world is a priority.
‘Washing our image is important as relates to motivating our players to feel happy to be in the third club in Spain,’ he said.
The capital increase goes on. The economic policy drafted by Javier Gomez continues. Everything stays the same until Dalport pay up.
I think Llorente has his priorities on straight. Like many of us, he wants to know who Dalport is. He wants what’s best for VCF. And until he sees the money, he’s playing his cards exactly as he was going to before. Just wait and see, like the rest of us.
For more on the press conference given by Llorente today, check out Kyle’s update and elvalencianista.com …
- While Llorente insinuated his doubts over Soriano’s statements and Dalport, Soriano also came out swinging, saying he doesn’t need to show anyone anything concerning Dalport. What?
‘I don’t have to show any guarantee or backing to VCF’s administration,’ Soriano grinned. ‘The only thing I’ll say is that we’re 51% of the club now and they need to give us control. We will show in deeds what we have said.’
Soriano, on behalf of the Dalport, asked Llorente’s staff in a meeting that the VCF board convene an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to change its board and stop the capital increase that started today.
Uggh … what a smug statement to make. Not exactly warm and trustworthy, eh?
Apparently, he’s giving ANOTHER press conference tomorrow about the entire Dalport thing.
Anyone know what time it is?
Uggh … my head hurts. I’m going to lie down …

Arsenal wants Banega: ——————————————————————————–
(Las Provincias)Posted from

Yeah, I guess some website called “The Football Pools” is reporting this about Banega. However, there are no quotes from anyone at Arsenal or Liverpool, who are also apparently interested…

Did the transformers take over Mestalla or yet?

Soriano has already said, the thing that matters is that their group has 51% of the club’s “social capital”. They don’t have to explain or show anything to anybody. Llorente’s reply is perhaps more neutral than it first seems…”500 million euros? Show us the money!”

@ Jiwonsi
True, but than again, if everything would be fine there would be no need to withhold any information! As an act of confidence and loyalty the new owners should reveil themselves to the Valencianistas.@ 7Amanito
Mate im going thaiboxing, could u do me the favor of writing me a message if Soriano bring anything new

What is “that team” – how David Villa is supposed to call Valencia in that interview – in Spanish? I can’t find it.

Thank you!

I couldn’t see it either.
Let’s not have any negative comments about Villa when/if he leaves. He’s been tremendously loyal to us over the years, in spite of huge interest from clubs worldwide. It’s only natural he wants to go elsewhere if the money is right for Valencia, he’s been our pichichi for, what, four years on the trot or something? He cannot speak too plainly because he simply does not know what next season is going to bring. He’s reached the top with us. As long as he doesn’t celebrate when he inevitably scores a goal *against* us one day, and as long as he doesn’t go to Real Madrid, and as long as we get a very good price for him, I’d be sad to see him go but I would understand completely and not feel angry about it. Valencia is hardly a stable environment at the moment…

Hi Guys….Been a while ugh.
The drama at the Mestalla is never ending.
I guess its one of those things you have to live with as a Valencia fan.
On another note,
I just saw an ad here that Valencia youth team will be coming to Nigeria.
Not much but its cool enough for me.

Further weirdness.
I know you’ve all seen
http://www.inversionesdalport.com
the holding page.Well, look what has been found…^
http://www.inversionesdalport.com/~natalia/Hardly the “holding de varias empresas de construcción, financieras y alimentación que están por Dubái, Nueva York y Miami” as Soriano is saying.
I still think Dalport is a company recently bought up (doesn’t matter what it was doing before, or was going to be used for), for channelling out money to tax haven Uruguay, perhaps on behalf of all those pyramidal investment companies and MAS Contractors.
Whatever, it doesn’t matter. This is another embarrassment for Soriano who will now need to explain exactly how ladies’ underwear fits in with construction, finance and food that Dalport is supposedly about.

@ TristanWhite
I like you mate, we see things the same way hehe. Fuck these so called investors, they aint got anything to show us which would actually make us believe we can trust them. Like i asked at the German Valencianistas forum, could anyone find me a company on this planet having 500 Million to invest but less than 30 employees??? All i know i’ve only heard 2 people working there…Posted from

@ Johnnie.
They have 3 employees! The president, vice preident, and some coño they talked to at the “headquarters” in Boadilla del Monte.

Apparetly, Sunny will be getting more experience from his bad spell at Osasuna. Real Betis’s relegation have forced their star players to lave (most of them). Now, they’ll be relying with what they got and this include Sunny.

@ Kyle
Damn 3, thats a lot!!! But i get the picture now, Dalport is kinda like UBS, the biggest Swiss bank. Their HQ here in the center of Zürich isnt like their skyscrapers in New York or Chicago, its old and simple, tho when u enter its all gold and marbel, and there arent that many people working their either. So i imagine it will be the same with Dalport, from the outside it doesnt look much, but inside it is filled with money plus im 100% sure they have big ass offices in NYC and Dubai…Not!

It is total crap, they will have to write an apology soon lol because 1) Soriano is not in any position to negotiate with Barca as goal.com states 2) Llorente is going to meet with Villa and his agent soon. 3) Right now the whole takeover crap is going on so i really doubt VCF have time to agree a deal with Barca

Indeed. 500 million is a huge amount of money.
I never thought I’d miss Jaume Ortí so much! I bet the majority of those who booed him at the start of the 2004 season, in spite of us winning La Liga twice and UEFA once (plus supercups etc) under his presidency, regret it now. AND he was a Valencianista through and through, with his big fan (you can find footage of him on Youtube of him and his huge Valencia fan dancing on the pitch in 1971 when we last won La Liga before his presidency.
I always liked Ortí. Whatever happened with that plan a few months back for a “blue elephant” style consortium including Ortí and Jaume Part to buy Soler’s shares? Too late now. Jaume Part, now there’s someone who gets things done. I know him personally as he runs the Agrupació de Penyes (in which we’re registered) and we meet up with him personally to collect tickets whenever we see Valencia play overseas. He’s a doer. He also is someone who the fans really like. AND he’s a thoroughly nice bloke. And not afraid to speak out (as indeed he did following Soriano’s press appearance earlier this week). However, I have no idea what he would be like at board level, and it’s not enough to be a nice chap. If a businessman like Soriano can get duped (as is possibly the case) by a bunch of cowboys, then god help anyone with even less boardroom experience. Barcelona’s consortium makes sense, and Laporta’s “elefant blau” worked and look where they are now!
But Ortí, well, he’s been there, done it. Arturo Tuzón was pretty inspirational in the late 80s, turning a club down on its luck into a success story once again, back in the top division after a horrendous two years including one year in Segunda. He was also fiercely antimadridista, which I liked. He was a breath of fresh air after Cortés, Roig, etc etc. And quite how he managed to last three (?) years in charge in spite of owning fewer than 500 shares was rather amazing – I don’t really understand how chairmanship works in Valencia…
Anyway, my cards on the table: Get Ortí back. Llorente though would probably have to go as not quite sure how their relationship is after the Rafa Benítez episode….
The main problem is, for the first time in ages, someone actually has over 50% (51% to be exact). This hasn’t happened in a while, with minority shareholders being in the majority in the past. Now, I guess, Soriano and these cowboys call the shots.
However, with Llorente’s insistence on a share rights issue, well as long as Soriano doesn’t buy any, we could end up slowly pushing his majority to under 50%. Ahh, I get it.
