That’s More Like It!

joaquin1.jpgOk … that’s more like it.

I didn’t watch the game, but I read along on As.com and Marca.com and I think we did quite well.

2-1 over Real Betis in the Copa Del Rey with two goals from Joaquin.

A Joaquin performance so good against his former club that the crowd gave him a standing ovation and yelled ‘Lopera Vere Ya!’ at their president. For once, it wasn’t screams for our president to leave. Music to my ears.

So this gives us a nice cushion going to the return leg at the Mestalla in one week. With Koeman going on record saying he wants to win the Cup, I think we’re doing good so far.

Hey, it’s the only silverware we can win this season! Let’s go all out for it!

Two items of news today. First, bye bye Manelele!

Valencia have reached an agreement to loan midfielder Manuel Fernandes to Everton until the end of the season. The loan deal follows an incident in the early hours of Jan 4, when the player was taken in for questioning by police following a fracas at a nightclub in the city.

So that ends that experiment. Too bad. I think he’ll be one of the good ones. He just didn’t fit in here.

And then this.

Valencia have a preferential option for Boca Juniors striker Rodrigo Palacio.

Reports state that we’re hopeful of landing the 25-year-old striker next summer, and to this end have secured a preferential bidding condition.

This means that, should any given club make an offer for the forward, then Valencia have one month in which to match it. Should they do so, then it is their offer that will be taken first into consideration.

So what do you think? Is this guy worth it?

With David Villa probably leaving, can this guy take his place and provide much needed goals? He’s scored 42 goals in 96 games for Boca Juniors. Not bad. We’ll see if these reports hold up.

For now, a victory and some much needed relief from the stresses of the past few months.
Hopefully they can enjoy this one and come back fresh for this weekend’s demanding match against Atletico Madrid.

AMUNT!

Yes, thats more like it indeed. I feel as though if we play Betis for all 38 rounds of the season we’ll be undefeated and Joaquin would score 50 goals

I don’t know what the situation is like at Valencia right now (in terms of which strikers are staying & which are going), but Palacio requires a strong centre-forward up front with him.

You guys are gonna lose Villa, but whatever you do, do not let go of Silva or Mata.

I agree with moka on this one. Silva is absolutely fantastic and whatever you can do to keep him is what you should do. Villa too, but that doesn’t look like happening simply because of the demand.

As for Palacio, I tried to analyze his game a little when he was supposedly headed to Barcelona and what I came up with is that he’s just not worth it for a big club. He’s good, there’s no doubt about that, but he isn’t up to the standard set by the elite clubs in Europe, so if you want to be elite, getting him would be a bad idea. He’ll score for you, but only often enough to keep you from thinking he’s crap. Not enough to be a game-changer and not enough to push Valencia to the next level.

It takes a player like, say, David Villa to do that…

i would love to see Huuntelar come to us if Villa leaves. But if Villa does leave we better get at least 40 million for him so we can take thatc ash and buy 2 good players

So latest news is that we are trying to get Sisokko back.. um why? he is so so at best he was here already and didnt do much. But whatever.. we are also in teh chase for Diarra.. now he is a much better signing in my opinion the 22 year old Defensive mid could make a good addition.

I would like to see us pick up a nice RB or LB. but those are very hard possitions to fill. Honestly and io hate to admit this cause it embarresing. but Arizmendi did a not bad job in the RB last time.. if he fit there he would be great.. tall to stop crosses long legs to trip em up.. .. i still havent given up hope .. I love you ChE

RB is my vote for Arizmendi’s position. If Koeman insists on having him on the field, he should be out of Silva & company’s way. We can’t put him in goal (although he’d probably be better than Mora) and he’s no center back. So RB it is for Arizmendi. He should take Manelele’s old number

Losing Villa would be a huge loss but a big payday for us. He can go to Chelski or whoever seems fit, maybe Madrid.

Palacios is a good workman but not world class. He could work with another solid forward up front as stated. We can call him padawan or rattie too – kool.

We do not need the 2nd coming of Momo. What happened to some reinforcements in the back – wingbacks or central defenders? Sheesh we need players in every position.
