Thanks … But Why?

Nice knowing ya.
In about two years, Valencia CF sold David Silva, David Villa, Carlos Marchena, Raul Albiol and Juan Mata.
All great players. All World Champions with Spain.
Now they’re gone, Our Beloved garnering about €115 million for the players.
Question is: Why didn’t we do better with them?
I love them all (well, maybe not Marchena).
It sucks to have to sell your best assets season after season.
But honestly, why didn’t it work out with them?
Or did it? In some weird, thanks-for-the-cash-and-the-memories kind of way?

the 75000 seeter has been bugging me since it all started.
we need a 48000 seeter maximum and if they want to overdo it make it maximum 59999 and not a seet more. i wish someone would blast the unfinished stadium and start over. im happy to keep current mestalla for 50 more years

I have said many times that the reason for those low sells cannot be just the crisis in Spain and I stand my that, if we didn’t have such debt we might have been able to sell tickets for Bundesliga prices and then the stadium would be sold out every game, hopefully that will happen in a few years when we clear the debt and the current heads of LFP will be replaced with people that do know a thing about on how to run a league.
Why did we even decide to buy Nou Mestalla? I mean I’m happy with the current one maybe do a little work on that one but it seems fine to me, I know working on it will be difficult because of it’s place but I think it should be possible to work on it from inside. Either way Nou Mestalla seems like a distant dream that seems very far way so why no stop working on it and continue when it is possible and next time have the money for the stadium beforehand.

There are the amazing players for being the good athletes. It is time for new and young players to show their love of the game.

I think the new Mestalla will fall down before it is built,the guarantees on the inside structure being fully exposed to the weather has long run out.
Mestalla lost their first match in 2nd b to Oriuela
score 3.0 Emery reinforced the team with our new third goalie Christan Pieira. That doesnt look good does it?
Congratulations to Marchena, he can still put one in when it counts, he also still plays for Spain. I for one enjoyed his performance for Valencia. -
@Quin Well the crisis does explain a lot, tickets arent cheap. And peaple tend to cut those kind of expenses first.
Besides when we had a 25000 waiting list we were challenging for the title about every year, that not the case right now. Succes on the pitch helps fill a stadium, the Riazor used to be a lot fuller then its nowadays for example.

@Martijn: We’ve been the 3rd best team in Spain for two years in a row in the 3rd largest city in the country in one of the best league’s in the world…if thats not enough to get 45,000 people to be commited in a city of around 2 million people then I dont know what more we could do.
The economy and sporting issue alone dont explain this.

We had 25.000 people on waiting list in Sanchez-Flores & Koeman era as well, when VCF was 7th & 10th in la liga, why not now?
Okay, Spain’s in crisis, but so is the rest of the world…Look at Villarreal, a city of 50.000 inhabitants manages to fill a stadium of 25.000 every week.
BTW, Valencia has 800.000 inhabitants. -
My apologizes, Valencia has a population of around 1 million…still not being able to get 45,000 people in a city of 1 million isnt good at all.

i can love valencia if it only had 15000 season ticket holders but the stadium then shouldnt be bigger then 18000. same here if we have an averidge attendance of about 42000 last 10 seasons so i wish for any new stadium to be just less then 50000. but if we have 40000 ppl in a 75000 seater there will be no more passionate vcf more then maybe 3-4 times every season, and personally i would hate that. this is why i hope the stadium start to fall into peaces so we will have another go for it from scratch. i hope no one buys our current stadium 3-4 more years so the new one becomes sand

Valencia City.. the old centre has 850,000 when you count the urban sprawl its over 2 million.
Also Mestalla sells out for several matches every season. Though it is true ticket sales are down you must also realize wages are down as well. So it is normal.

But back to the central question, can we fill a 75k seater?
I actually think we can, but we have to drop the prices a fair bit to do it. This doesnt mean les income by necessity as we also get more volume then in the current situation. But even if it means less income the atmospere of a full 75k seater and the effects on that on the team might just compensate the loss.

The bundesliga model is correct. the prices are so cheap right, that far more go, there is a greater demand for tickets, better vibe, atomosphere etc, BUT ALSO the clubs are making as much if not more money because more people buying food, drinks, memorobilia, magazines etc = more money. especially in an economic climate such as spain, this model must be followed, or risk the alienation of the fanbase
