Soriano Returns for the 75,874th Time

By: Cesar | July 5th, 2009

I’m still trying to wrap my head around this … so you mean to tell me Vicente Soriano is back, he’s the new boss, an American company is supposedly involved, the debt will be wiped out and all is well in our ongoing soap opera?

NO ME DIGAS!!

I was enjoying the American 4th of July holiday yesterday afternoon, sipping on a red wine and eating a chicken shish kebob in the woods of upstate New York when my phone vibrated. I wondered how I got service and who was texting me.

I saw Kyle’s name and the shocking information on the dramatic events of the past day …

I flipped.

So what the f*ck is going on here??

You all know the information as it’s been presented here, on Kyle’s and around the web.

I just don’t quite understand the logistics of it.

Supposedly, Mr. Soriano will let the world know what the deal is tomorrow at another dramatic press conference sure to confuse and confound us some more.

By the way, have I mentioned that Kyle, Xes, Timothy Lakefront and I have been in secret negotiations to purchase Our Beloved club?!?

How I wish … but honestly, only at VCF …

This stuff only happens with our club, with our presidents and owners, machinating the circumstances to create this web of telenovela-style news that makes us the mockery of the football world.

No wonder Jorge Valdano thinks we’re the ‘cheerleaders of La Liga,’ as he so eloquently said years ago. We’re more unstable than the San Andreas Fault.

Soriano’s been gone for what? Two weeks? And now there’s a new vision for VCF?

- What about the presidency? Who is the new president? Is Manuel Llorente still there or is Soriano taking over AGAIN?
- What about the debt? Has he found a buyer for the Mestalla?
- What about the Nou Mestalla? Is it being built again?
- What about Javier Gomez’s plan to make our club economically stable in the next few years?
- What about sporting director Fernando Gomez? Does he stay?
- What about David Villa, David Silva and the rest of our young stars? Are they staying?
- What about this investment company helping Soriano acquire the shares? Who are they? Why are they interested in the team?
- What about Soriano’s countless tales and fables of the past? Who is to say he’s to be trusted now?
- What about the capital increase?
- How exactly is the debt being resolved?

Questions. So many questions.

I’m in shock, disbelief and utter breathlessness at the pace that VCF changes week in and week out.

Will it ever end? Will we EVER have stability and some semblance of calm at the club?

Soriano speaks tomorrow. We’ll know more then.

Until that time, let’s just all hope this is the last change in management for some time to come … It’s beyond ridiculous at this point …

Kyle, ya. And he owns an MLS team or two as well. In DC?
Just rumors but it would be exciting.
I know Soros is a big deal in politics and the finance world.
And he’s been a string advocate of US soccer … so maybe tie-ins? Marketing in the states?

Oh please, Oh please … maybe my dream of getting a job with the team will come true …

“In the United States, he is known for having donated large sums of money in a failed effort to defeat President George W. Bush’s bid for re-election in 2004.”

If so, I already like him! LOL.

How do you measure how big a club is ?

    A) By number of supporters?

    B) By domestic success?

    C) By European success?

If we take all 3 of those factors into consideration I think we can safely say we are the 3rd biggest club in Spain (I know others have won the league more but we do enjoy more European success and certain more fans both in Spain and abroad).

It would be quite hard to measure the number of supporters each team has abroad. The fact that our stadium is never full isnt an indication of our number of supporters but is closely related to our high prices.

However, there is no way that we are smaller than Roma. We could have almost the same number of fans abroad, plus they have only won their league 3 times and havent won a major European cup (not even the UEFA). So in what way are Roma bigger than us?

So I think we are the 3rd biggest club in Spain, thats not a small achievement in a major league dominanted by possibly the two biggest names in the world.

Bane, my ex’s best friend was the marketing director of the team … and I lived with a girl whose boyfriend was the physical therapist of the team. But that boat’s sailed … :(
So no inside scoops from me. :(

Fayez, it’s true we’re #3, which is a big achievement.
For me, it’s based on titles and supporters.
    In that respect, we’re good.
But on par with Chelsea? No way …

Let me add another criteria (-um?) … buying power. Madrid, Barca and Chelsea dwarf us there. Let’s see if that changes at noon.

    @ Fayez
i agree on everything you say, though i see AS Roma at the same level as us, cause their “lack” of titles ix compensated by the larger group of supporters. I like the club btw! Valencia tho like i said it quite big in Spain, but internationally we dont mean that much.

    @ Kyle
Didnt some Swiss dude try to buy AS Roma recently? Some oil-tycoon (where a Swiss dude gets oil, no idea??) tried to buy them but he failed. And yeah Borussia Dortmund is big, very big, probably Germany’s biggest club alongside Bayern, Köln, Schalke.

    @ Cesar
I hope you’ll get some, but first let us see what this 789318379th turn-around in Valencian politics will bring. Thank Darwin i’m going out tonight, drink away all these frustrating rumours and changes we cant seem to get rid of.

    @Johnnie,
You should get a job w/ FIFA and influence them to get VCF preferential treatment …

And off topic, but how cute are Swiss girls?

    Whoops, sorry …

Anyways, anyone know of a way to follow the press conference on the Inter-world wide web-net?

I seriously was checking that out last week, but it seems they only needed IT-people, which im not :) Too bad!

Swiss girls are ok, especially the Zürich girls are really arrogant even when they aren’t pretty! Thank Darwin there are so many foreigners here, loads of latinas, a bit of everything, surely tonight we will have some fun again ;)

I read on Foroche that you can follow it via radio on http://www.miradiofm.com/

george soros tried to buy roma and he was in advanced negotiation but failed to get it from the lady owner.they say that “bancaja” the bank overlooking the sale of roma found out that he cannot give her guarantees for the projects that are ongoing in rome.also they say he cannot prove where he gets his money.i dont know what to say to that…..before we get all excited we should be carefull who and for what reason this soros guy is in for.

i agree with jw.we are equal with rome, arsenal and leads before they went down.because all of us has one thing in common.we lack spending power.roma is in debt because the president and owner rosela sensi’s company italpetroli is in debt and canot buy whoever they choose.roma bought batistuta for around 30ME and they are still paying that debt.arsenal built a stadium and have to pay the 500ME+ evry year.so they buy with peanuts for promising players like fabregas and make them a star.look where leads is.need i say more..lol.

yes titles count but also being around the block for a long time is important because without history you are nothing*cough*chelsea*cough*.valencia has a rich history of 90+ years.we have won and fought for titles.without clubs like us,la liga and the like would not be big.so we are one of the big boys too.

roma are about to be bought by fioraneli.but his lawyer stupidly called totti is whats holding back roma.totti is a god in rome and you can imagine what the response would be like.amunt valencia!

    Chelski bigger than VCF?
GIMME A F*CKING BREAK!! I’m laughing my ass off, mates. Yes, they’re bigger in money spent on transfers by a corrupt Russian oligarch, not in sporting criteria. Three lousy EPL titles in 100 years, twice UEFA, very little historical significance … Newcastle & Nottingham Forest are bigger historically than Chelski… and they’re not even in EPL anymore!
