So What’d I Miss?
By: Cesar | January 22nd, 2009
I’ll be perfectly honest with you: I have no idea what’s going on with Valencia CF this week.
I’m just back from President Obama’s inauguration in Washington, DC and fresh off summit meetings with Timothy Lakefront concerning the Real Madrid bloggers, etc. that I’ve had no chance to catch up on Our Beloved.
As we all know, things move quick with this club … so what did I miss?
- Is David Villa still with the team?
- Is Vicente Soriano still our president?
- We beat Sevilla yesterday … was it a good game?
- Who is our new goalkeeper?
- How awful was that loss on Sunday?
- Will Curro Torres make some tip money this week at Manolo’s?
You know, the important stuff …
Fill me in, people. I need your help!!!

Here’s the highlights if anyone is interested. I personally can’t watch them due to the agony they bring.

kat came closest.i guess
most bad passes….mata with 186 followed by moretti ( not a huge shock )with 183
most good passes ….albiol with 682 followed by albelda with 672
fayez, cant factor silva in properly but he allready has more bad passes than joachim and fernandes, quite suprising
i would have picked miguel most bad and fernandes most good.

In Spanish the word for trillion is billon (with an accent over the o,
billion is mil millones)thus why euro billions are a thousnad millions vs american being a smaller number meaning a thousnad millions.

I was way off! All I can remember is getting really mad at Albiol on several occassions earlier in the season.

The president of the referee’s group in Spain apologized to Soriano yesterday for the horrible call on the goal of Sevilla. He said the ref(s) will be punished

@ Xes
who gives a **** about punishment when we will be thrown out of the tournament cause of this goal, fucking ref’s!!!Btw go fly mate, its really cheap to fly from Valencia to Basel or from Barcelona to Basel, you could go for like 50 euros, if you’re really lucky you could go for 1 euro with Ryanair (check them out!). When is Semana Santa?
@ Fayez
Luzern is really beautiful, my ex lived near it so i visited it a lot, but its small and that gets boring pretty quickly
Amazing view there tho, the lake with the mountains in the back is magical. Also good for skiing
@ bob
But its not really a fair statistic. The balls Albiol plays are most often to marchena or Moretti, those are easy passes. I remember last week Fernandes having around 87% accuracy of his passes in the Bilbao game. That is very good, seen position and the kind of passes he makes. So we have a new goalie until the end, any of you guys wanna see him in the goal this weekend against Mallorca???

@Johnnie
Alicante-> 56 euros. Not bad. I may take you up on that couchsurfing offer! If I remember correctly it was like 45 minutes by train from Basel to Zurich??Posted from

Hi, I say stick with Guaita. He deserves it as this was his first game in 1st Div and he had to cope with 12 shots on target and only let in 1 goal(not counting that stupid 4 metre offside one) Caesar Sanchez hasnt done any keeping for Tottenham anyway so let him get to know the players in practice first.
CAESAR Wherefore art thou? This turned into a tourists guide of Hotels and bars in Valencia a couple of days ago, and now it is a guide to Switzerland.Posted from

Yeah there isnt much news so we seem to be chatting about everything here!
Btw guys check out Cesar Sanchez’s hair on superdeporte.es when he was 20 years old!
Guaita eat your heart out our new goalkeeper had a more kickass hairstyle than you do!Posted from

I’m not sure what I think about gk for this weekend… part of me says that Guaita deserves anotehr shot but part of me says this would be a good game for Cesar to get his feet wet (since it is Mallorca after all, they don’t have much of an attack this year after losing Guiza, among others)

Hi LILLO, your namesake is Manuel Castro, a young international forward belonging to Valencia. He has been loaned together with MONTORO till the end of this season.
We have so many players , we dont know what to do with them !!!Posted from
Spain

@ Fayez
haha i bet bob would like to see that!@ Almendras
I guess thats what they mean with “Valencia Experience”, its much more than futbol
@ Xes
let me know when u come than, it takes an hour from Basel to ZH, be here before u know it
Ill have a bottle of Johnnie waiting, or Heineken if u prefer!I think we should give Guaita another chance as well, somehow the chap convinced me cause of his confidence. He looks so much more secure than Renan, Renan always looks a bit lost on the pitch. But Cesar, without much hair these days, we should let him train with the squad a bit and than see what he is made of! Tho i expect Emery to put him on asap, just as he did with Renan!

@ Xes: Personally I think Guaita deserves another shot. He earned it from the last match where he was very solid for a young inexperienced goalkeeper.
Cesar just arrived and still does not know our defenders and the rest of the team so it would be difficult for him to get into the game. He probably needs a couple of weeks to fully understand the play and tactics of the defenders. So I think Guaita should play the Mallorca match and the Sevilla match. Maybe after that Emery can evaluate his output and then decide which goalkeeper to play.

@ Almendras : Im just glad we got rid of Sisi and Gavilan. I think Soriano/Fernando dont follow the same loaning policy that Soler used to use and im glad they dont.
Remember those useless players we had on loan?Posted from

Thought Guita did well but looked very nervous on crosses (which made Sevilla’s first goal inevitable).
Normally I’d say stick Cesar Sanchez in goal, but the huge worry is… Gomes has been a right clown for Spurs this season. He’s been absolutely woeful. And even in cup games when Gomes has been rested, Spurs have played a young keeper instead of using Cesar. Something tells me he may not be any more solid than Guita is.

Almendras, thanks for the info on Castro. Darn it! In the game he is a good prospect for a wing back, not a striker
Was hoping Valencia had a little gem coming up, but I guess it shows how unrealistic the game really is. Regardless I’ll play on for one more season and hope to finally fend off Real Madrid and Barcelona for the title. If I do, I’ll have to post up my title winning side.Posted from

@BOB FROM SPAIN. where did you get those passing stats? Link?
Posted from

I think stats like accuracy of passes is silly. While defending (note, I did not say defender as even a striker could be defending for the moment when he made the pass) even one bad pass is fatal and when attacking a single good pass could change the game.
If the referee board apologizing is true, maybe we will get a couple of favorable decisions in next few games..;)

@kuku, i was just thinking that. i wouldn’t be surprised if we got a few makeup calls next week in sevilla – perhaps a questionable penalty – to try to balance things in our favor. i don’t think they’ll let sevilla win on away goals, as they should only have one away goal.

Lets not be unfair ourselves and just beat Sevilla fair and square. I’d hate to become a Real Madrid which gets favours every day (and probably pays the refs babysitter), we will go to the next round even without help!! Amunt!!

@Timothy: yeah i knew about the Penya in Miami, i contacted the club a while back and they told me that the penya was opened by a group of people from Valencia that were working here, but when they left they closed it

@Johnnie: i agree we dont need favors from refs, let’s just beat Sevilla like they deserve to be beaten!!I too think that Guaita should play against Mallorca he deserves it and hopefully he will prove himself again in this match.

I think if refs were fair with us then we can beat any team in Spain. And by fair I mean if something looks like a soft penalty should either be given to ALL teams in la liga or it should be never given. That Joaquin penalty against Villarreal was soft. The Fernandes pull in Bilbao was also soft.
How many similar claims have we had for our team that have been turned down by refs ?Posted from
