Short But Sweet and a Finals Prediction
By: Cesar | May 22nd, 2007
This one’s a quickie as I am swamped at work.
I didn’t get to see Valencia’s stunning 1-0 victory over Real Mallorca on the weekend.
Impressive goal by Joaquin but even more impressive back-heel by little-used winger Jorge Lopez (watch the goal HERE!!!) gives the victory to the Men in White (I really like this season’s kits, especially the black ones).
Unfortunately, we didn’t gain any ground. At the end of Saturday, we were a point behind the leaders with a game in hand.
Then 143-year old Roberto Carlos gallops 80 yeards like he’s a teenager and scores a wonder goal. Back to the top of table.
But wait …
Sevilla, fresh from their emotional UEFA Cup triumph, come from behind to finish of Deportivo … UGGH!
Oh, the best is to come …
Barcelona humiliate Atletico Madrid, scoring a touchdown but missing the extra point in a 6-0 drubbing …
The status quo continues. Everything stays the same.
Ok, so now it’s more difficult. Maybe it’s a stretch to say we have a chance to win the league. But we do, I tell you! I haven’t given up hope!
Four back with 3 to play. Hmmm … that is pretty hard, eh?
Anyways, it’s on to the Mestalla and state rivals Villarreal. This is always a hotly contested matchup and one of the two derbies we have this season, the next one being against city rivals Levante next week. More on those later … (if I have time!!)
And on we go, with Vicente and Regueiro back at training, Edu going under the knife again (his knee didn’t heal properly) and rumors of Villa’s departue circling the grounds at Paterna …
Oh, and there’s this big game taking place tomorrow in Athens, a game Valencia SHOULD be playing in.
2-1 to the Reds and remember, you heard it here first. AMUNT RAFA!!!
