Some quick ones before today’s match-up against Sevilla FC

- Goal.com thinks it’ll be a wide open affair …

Games of this calibre are usually very open and attack minded. With both teams level on points, it’s the winner who will have the last laugh. Remember, the Pizjuan is an extremely difficult stadium to play in, especially with the fans right up to the pitch. With all their injuries, it is difficult to see Sevilla edge their opponents, but they have the home advantage and have the winning mentality, which is why the have the upper hand.

Sevilla 3-3 Valencia

3-3? Hmm …

- Who is injured for Sevilla? According to the preview, they’re without 4 of their defenders. Haven’t we been without defenders since Roberto Ayala left a few seasons ago? And isn’t having Moretti back there like missing 2 defenders at least? Where’s Gonzalo de los Santos when you need him?

- Take a look at the picture offered up by the Sevilla Offside writer ahead of today’s match … HMMMM …

- Foroche.com’s game of the week is the title-clinching match of 2004 against Sevilla at their Sanchez Pizjuan … good memories … make sure to check it out …

- Let’s not make a mountain out of a molehill, but is there trouble in Unai Emery’s paradise between Vicente and Emery? Check out this article, in Spanish, for more on that situation …

- Unibet.com … is this the new sponsor? I haven’t seen this news anywhere but the comments section, but … uggh … that’s an awful logo …

- Finally, the new website … it’s up. It’s ‘running’ … Check it out at www.valenciacf.com

Initial reactions are this …

– It’s much better than the old site, but it’s still somewhat cluttered …
– I love the opening screen with the pictures of the players.
– I like the gray/transparent Valencia logo. Classy.
– It’s still not loading very quickly … technical difficulties?
– The online store is still rubbish … absolutely awful … If they need marketing help …
– It looks like they’re updating the English news portion of the site more often than they did with the old site, but it’s still not enough … you’d think they’d work harder on this aspect of their site.

I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve been snubbed by Valencia CF in my efforts to start a supporter’s club here in New York. You’d think they’d jump at the chance to have a presence here in the biggest city in the United States. Instead, they procrastinate, don’t take my calls or tell me to call back …

Judging by their English website, I can see they don’t place much credence in us … we have to show them that we’re important!!!! Sign up, bug them, whatever. We need Valencia CF to know we exist, that we love the club and that we won’t be ignored!

Ok, off my high horse for a bit …

It’s a much needed improvement to the web site. I’m happy it’s done and they’re moving forward with it. It’s 10 times better than the crap we used to have … I wonder how the site will look when they play games.

For any one that’s not able to watch the matches, valenciacf.es used to have the funniest, most biased online commentary of the matches in the history of football … I wonder how they’ll be now that the website’s all new …

Anyways, off to watch the match … AMUNT Valencia … let’s start this streak of hearty matches off the right way: With 3 points …

I’m off to the local restaurant here in upstate NY where the Egyptian owner promised to show the Valencia matches if they’re on GOL TV.

It is 0-0 at half time and Valencia are playing the best I have seen for a long long time. Seville are doing a lot of diving particularly Navas who should get a yellow card, Even Renan has perfomed well and saved at least 2 tricky shots out of the 5 that has so fsr been between the posts

Hi finished at 0-0 a great performance by Valenca, all the players apart from a couple of silly clearances by Moretti and Albiol. If you missed this match I`m sorry for you. Even Renan stopped everthing and that was Fabiano and Kanoute firing at him. Joaquin stopped a fist from Navarro and got a black eye, but no card was issued. The ref let some very bad fouls go by without action and at one time it almost spoilt the game but it did return to football. Amunt Amunt

alexis was the star..superb positioning and intercepting of passess..the second half was all sevilla until the last 15 min..thought we would snatch a victory but….villa came to life in the last 15min..renan played much better…think draw is a good result considering it was away..but the way we are playing at home dunno wat will happen..

I think Alexis and Miguel were simply amazing. God, even Moretti was pretty solid! Renan was good today and saved 3 great chances (a first for him at our club). As for our attackers, Villa was quiet (he was also a bit selfish in the end when his teammates were in better positions to take the shot) and Mata should have scored the 2 clear chances he had.
I agree with 7amanito, Emery wasnt looking for a win and he might have done the right thing playing there. Anyway I expected a 2-0 loss, especially after the terrible performance of last week, so getting a point was better than nothing.

gOAL.COM is a hunk of shit. if you arent one of the main bandwagon teams like Man U Real or Barcelona then they talk crap. im so sick of Goal and their fake news. They will print any rumour no matter where it comes from.. half their garbage comes from tribalfootball.com another crap site.

Wanna read garbage about valencia just read as.com or marca. Those real supporting papers will no doubt give you your fill.

now rant over let talk the match. Game was very evenlly matched. personally i think i could have gone either way and the fact it ended 0-0 was fair if not surprizing since both sides went for the juggular. First one team would dominate the attack then it would swing back. I can say i found any major fault on either side… i got my fair share of scares and renan saved the necessary saves to prevent an enfarto.

All in all if we play this solid we belong in the top 4. After watching madrid play today i personally am less worried about them.. We can beat this wimpering weakened madrid… bring them on.

@ Javier: Yeah Madrid dont seem to be that scary this year, but they always have the refs on their side when they play against us. I wont say we are a sure bet for a top 4 finish (we still have Sevilla and Atletico to worry about), but if we concentrate on the league and forget the UEFA cup we might be able to even finish second if we are lucky.

Finally was able to watch a game after a long time. Good to see Renan making some saves though he committed a mistake towards the end which almost gave the game away…great save by Alexis. To me, he (meaning Alexis) was the star of the game.

Villa needs some rest or motivation..I was surprised that we didnt bring Moro on for at least last 20 minutes. Looks like we were content with the draw.

The only thing goal dot com has said about the match is that it was a boring snoozefest. I thought it was a pretty exciting game. Now that might be chalked up to the fact that I drank all day in anticipation of the match, but it was a decent game. Our boys played pretty well. I think Alexis is a rock in the back – he has been solid all year. He saved Moretti’s ass a few times. Did anybody hear the shout out I got from the lame GolTV announcers? Even though Puta Madrid eeked out another bs win, Villareal got killed, so I am happy with the day. When Silva gets back and we sign another striker and left back, watch out. AMUNT!!!

Fair result, although i’m a bit disappointed that the match didn’t live up to the pre-game hype. Villa must be getting frustrated labouring on his own up front like that, I’m confused that we didn’t take off Baraja for Morientes in the last 20 mins and try to go for it a bit more. Overall, not too bad.. let’s see how the next few weeks turn out

i think thats a good result, people expect us to win every game (i used to be like that) but on the back of a couple of poor results im happy enough.i still think this team is only just begining and with a bit of luck emery will bring us the same level of success as rafa benitiz did, that also raises the expectacion levels to the point that we think we are puta madrid,i never want to be like them.also agree that alexis was superb, and his hair is a bit dodgey, which makes me happy.
compared to this time last year we are like brazil on acid.amunt.

I think Renan Was the best. Boh sideshowed equal llevel of performance and it was the Brazilian, who won the point for us by his saves, I’msure.I liked Miguel and Fernandes as well as Baraja, Edu, Albiol and Mata.
