Please Tell Me We Can Do Better Than Juan Soler …

By: Cesar | December 28th, 2007

1193660324_0.jpgJuan Soler’s a muppet. There’s no other way of saying it.

He’s clueless, brainless and apparently spineless.

He held a news conference today at the Mestalla to explain to the world that David Albelda, Santiago CaƱizares and Miguel Angulo aren’t sacked, they’re just riding the bench for now.

Uggh … this guy is the leader of the ship? We’re going down faster than the Titanic …

Come on! Why are you doing this to these guys? Just let ‘em go!

“It is a technical decision taken by Ronald Koeman. They haven’t been separated from the squad, or sacked. They simply haven’t been selected,” Soler told a news conference while shrugging his shoulders with a ‘What? Me?’ look on his face.

“This is the official version from the club. The coach said he did not count on them for now. No one has said they will not be recalled to the side again. I hope they will return to play for the club,” Soler added, a teethy grin on his face.

“These types of things have happened in other clubs. Real Madrid decided to get rid of Ronaldo, and dropped David Beckham, Raul and Guti last season and these same players ended up coming back to win them the league,” Soler said while pointing a finger at the hushed press conference.

“It is a temporary situation. The people who hold the key to reversing the decision are the players. It is in the hands of the players and the coach.”

So what’s the deal here?

Do they stay or do they go?

This is a VERY silly situation. It’s apparent there’s no one with a backbone in the Valencia boardroom besides coach Ronald Koeman, who at least had the cojones to say what he felt and do what he wanted.

Really, do these guys deserve this? Albelda broke down, Cani’s thinking of retiring and Angulo felt a scar that won’t heal soon.

You think these guys would say and feel this way because of being dropped for two games?? Does anyone honestly think these players, who’ve given so much to Valencia despite their substandard play this season, are this hurt because of a misunderstanding??

Is this just a huge joke?

Now this drivel? Our president shrugging his shoulders saying, ‘Hey, it wasn’t my fault! It was yours for taking this out of context! Or … it’s his fault!’ pointing at Koeman …

It’s just so stupid, in my opinion. Who is running this club?

Say what you want about Koeman but at least he understands the need to shake things up. By undermining him Soler is likely to do even more harm than Koeman’s recklessness.

Soler gave Koeman the job, and now the very least he can do is let him do that job.

They should go. Just not in this way. And now, in this seesaw-no-one-is-really-running-the-ship way … who’s in charge? Koeman or Soler? One says one thing, another says something else.

Looks like people are setting up for a boardroom mutiny. None to soon either.

OMG…Compared to this muppet, Koeman looked so good.
How come we ended up with such a no-brainer?

Our prospect, if there is any, looks gloomy.

How come every picture of Soler makes him look like he is stoned out of his mind and looks like he just saw the devil?

Hi, For those of you that seem to support Koeman’s thinking, let me just point out that Canizares is still one of the best goalies in the Liga. For the last match Koeman had to call on the 4th division club for a reserve goalkeeper. Is this the sort of planning that will save Valencia? I think not.

I don’t think anyone can say Santi was a bad goalkeeper. Koeman got rid of him because of his leadership and influence over the team.

Ronald ‘Tintin’ Koeman thought that Albelda and Canizares were not exerting the right influence on the team. Sweeping the rug out of those two has/will have a massive effect on the mindset of the team without pulling out too much form.

Albelda was in some terrible form, and while Santi is one of the best goalies in Europe, there is a terrific backup in Timo (once he is off the injury list).

Youre right about Soler pal…he’s definitely clueless. But id be ok with him just staying quiet and providing Valencia with funds.

Must say, Koeman’s got a lotta gonads.. For a coach to drop Canizares and play Mora (hope everyone else saw the absolute rubbish that Mora is against Zaragoza) takes a lot of backbone. This is the sort of backbone that Soler lacks. Can’t say I’m too thrilled about Soriano either, he’ll just sack Koeman and we’ll be back to square one. Cesar, raise a billion euro and start campaigning man.. maybe then a Valencia president will come to Nevada’s

Hi,Here is the news from today’s Valencia papers. From the Levante, Soler has promised to sign HUNTELAAR (24yrs) from Ajax. A forward with asking price of 25 million Euros. Koeman is interested and Morientes may take up offer from Fenerbahce to make some room. Two other contenders are PELLETIERI(25yrs) from Janus (Arg)for Abelda’s place and BANEGA (19yrs)Boca Juniors(Arg)
Both have played for the Argentine teams.Banega’s price is 18 million and Boca need the money to pay for Riquelme
I believe the agent is also the one for LUCHO. Fernandes would be dropped to make room. Superdeporte give a 4 page spread on Banega (at least he is young, so has potencial)They also mention RAT a Lateral Left for Shakhtar that Koeman wants,no doubt to replace El Raton (Ayala). Well Soler has to do something after his big promises and after yesterdays Valencia’s newsreel where his version of events was opposite to Koeman’s. If it is anything like the promises all Summer I wouldn’t hold your breath. Happy New Year to you all. Almendros

things needed to be changed in the squad, but the way its been done is a joke.david albelda is still a class player and its koemans job to motivate him,not give up and sack him. sole r is only interested in the new ground.

When teams fire players its because coaches and managers did not possess the skills to inspire the player to succeed. This firing is Koemans failure as a coach not their failure as players.

Its easy to cut players its hard to take a squad and make then succeed.
