On Mata

Diminutive midfielder Juan Mata looks set to leave the friendly confines of the Mestalla before the end of the month, bound for London’s West End and Chelsea.
SuperDeporte claims “talks between the directors at the London club and Valencia have intensified.”
Las Provincias says Chelsea are ready to pay between €25 million and €30 million, and that Valencia would accept, with Sergio Canales’ arrival from Real Madrid offering adequate cover.
All well and good.
I know the reasons this is happening. We’re in debt. We need the money. We have adequate cover.
But it pains me to see Our Beloved as a feeder club for the big boys, giving away our prized talents to the highest bidder.
It’s the nature of the beast and a sore reminder of former president Juan Soler’s mismanagement that we have to say goodbye to talented players.
Life goes on. The Mestalla keeps on turning. It does take away a bit of the eagerness and edge for the season to start. Who wants to see their best players leaving before the first kick of the ball?
Of course, the money off a Mata transfer could help us greatly.
We could buy a coveted center back to partner with Adil Rami. No one in their right mind wants to see Hedwiges Maduro man the center. Talk about comical in a very unfunny way.
We could buy another midfielder. We could pay down more of the debt.
Some online pundits think Valencia would be mad to turn down this money for Mata.
They’re probably right. Still, it stings.
I hoped to see Mata sneaking past defenses – for this season at least.
As for this season, when will it start? Next week? The week after? Next year?
There are very valid reasons for the strike. I’m definitely on the player’s side.
Whatever happens, start the season soon. Enough with the strike talk, the Real Madrid-Barcelona melodrama and the Mata transfer rumors.
I miss Valencia CF.

I would buy a CB RB and DM and try to get rid of either Bruno or Miguel and Maduro. For CB I would like to have Abiol for RB Hugo Mallo from Celta Vigo and for DM I haven’t really though of that but still we need someone good to cover for Topal.
Anyway I want to thank Mata for what he has done for us and even if we sell players we are only improving as a team and it would be more than great to beat Chelsea in CL if we face them and lets face it we actually stand a chance against them.

Actually I have changed my mind I think it will be better in the long run if we keep Mata because then players that join us will see and feel that Valencia is not a stepping stone for players and that for me is more important and it will probably be more important in the long run even if we have such a debt it will still show other teams that we are not desperate even though he are and that will only sell him if a ridiculous price comes something that Real and Barca would accept as well like 40-50 Million.
It’s still not official so I wait to see what will happen also Mata could help Parejo and Canales and he was quite influential in their move to us so I feel like he should stay at least for another season until Juan Bernat can step up. -
The tricky thing about Mata leaving is that its so close to the end of the transfer window and im sure Emery isnt happy about losing our best player without a real replacement.

we would have sold mata for 30 even if we didnt have depts, its a lot of money to turn down for a player who isnt irriplaceable.
what worrys me is that de gea, aguero, mata who were well known in epl was signed by epl, i dont like this trend. there are very little profiles in the other 18 teams right now that is world known, the averidge fan will only know of llorente, falcao and maybe banega.

even with out mata that is still a team that can make a quarterfinals in the cl -
@Fayez im pretty sure Emery wasnt happy with Villa and Silva leaving last season, stil didnt stop him from getting the team to 3rd.
I think third is very possible even without Mata, if Emery and Llorente make a simular assesment they should sell him as 30 is good money and lowering our debt would be a good thing….
