Tonight questions will be answered.
Just how good is our defence? Is it the no-show of the Racing game or the recent one where clean sheets have arrived with impressive consistency.
Just how good is our attack? The Genk game especially highlighted the reality that although we have a good attacking side, only San Roberto has that killer finishing instinct. When he wasn’t in the centre Los Che were toothless. So will Barca shut him down and if so, will our attack disappear as a result?
Actually, how good are we really? Our perfect league record so far shows a good sign, that we know how to kill off worse teams and avoid dropping points. It is on this quality that great teams are based. You can lose to Barca and Madrid in every fixture but if you beat the rest you’ll end up close to the top at season’s end. The key is consistency of quality, not quality alone, and being surgical almost, clinical, in each game. But in a few minutes we will see how we really are against the best the world can offer.

Lets hope this is no 8 goal crucifixion.

many times the players decide who is going to take the penalty in that moment. So i dont blame emery for that.
I do think we went out too defensive in this match.. and MAduro isnt right for this kind of team. But given we have 2 midfield injuries i guess the choices were slim.
i do agree the position of Joaquin has yet to be filled. Feghouli being the best candidate so far. Pablo works better attacking from behind a sole striker.

I think Banega taking it had a lot to do with who wasnt on the field. I think Soldado would be our first choice for it and Pablo our second or something like that, but they werent there. Thing is just Banega is not a natural goalscorer so it was more likely to fail, he has like 6 carreer goals in over a 100 matches and his shooting isnt great either. I mean comon even Maduro has a better goal to game ratio.
Im just wondering about the decision making process there cause its almost like a friend team that gives a penalty to the one thats scores the least to get him a goal too

I have a feeling Rami is good at penalty taking. The guy seems strong mentally and he seems like a natural leader and has amazing shot power.
Id give him a try in training, with Mata and Villa gone we’ve lost our penalty takers and I think Emery has to consider just one or two players for this task.

@Fayez I think Emery has considered (hes far to obsessive with details not to..).
But takers are usually offensive players and we had our topscorer and Pablo not on the pitch yesterday. Personally i would probably go for Soldado, with Pablo or Tino second. But when those or not on the pitch its different offcourse.
Miguel might also be a good option for this task cause he really doesnt give a shit so he has less nerves.

Tino is a penalty specialist and he always took them for Montpellier so the obvious choice would be Tino if such a situation and I would go for him even if Soldado or Pablo were on the pitch. -

on the pitch there was jonas and tino who have a better eye for a goal then banega. and emery should ban all players that shave before the game, specially soldado and banega -

@Moe Well about everyone has a better eye for the goal then Banega. Hes a great passer and gives nice assist but when it comes to scoring himself well….
Strange as he does have great technics for passing, but when he goes for a shot it goes in all kinds of weird directions

yeah, banega is pretty precise with his shots from 20-25 meters but they lack power. its more like a hard pass for the keepers.
