More Copa Del Rey News

Some more tidbits ahead of our 2-1 victory over Getafe in the Copa Del Rey final … (I’m trying very, very hard to be optimistic here …)
- Is Koeman getting the sack win, lose or draw tomorrow night? According to this report, he is.
Four wins in 21 games does that to you …
- But wait a minute … maybe Valencia should rethink and keep Koeman around for the benefit of the youngsters? Ewan Macdonald goes over the pros and cons.
You all know my opinion about this …
- How are the dearly departed Trio of Canizares, Angulo and Albelda getting to Madrid?
Rumors abound they may take a train in with some fans … but now it looks like they’ll fly to Madrid with some other fans … that’d be neat, eh? EH?
- David Silva to Barcelona to replace Ronaldhino? You want to kill me now or later?
- Goal.com have their Copa Del Rey final preview up … here’s what they think …
Being beaten in a manner as devastating as Getafe were last week against Bayern will gear them up in a much better way than another demoralizing home defeat in the league and continuing off-field speculation that the cup will not stop half the squad being sold and the coach maybe being sacked. Then there are the trainers. Laudrup has a well-organized squad that will do anything for him and are, arguably, greater than the sum of their parts. Koeman, his former Barça Dream Team colleague, has some members of his squad crossing their fingers that he will be gone in the summer. Los Azulones are the favorites and with good reason.
Valencia 1 – 3 Getafe
I should stop reading goal.com … WHATEVER!!!!
- Small tidbit about a former Valencia player … Romario has finally called it quits …
The former Vasco da Gama, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Flamengo, Valencia, Flamengo, Vasco da Gama, Fluminense, Al-Sadd, (deep breath) Fluminense, Vasco da Gama, Miami FC, Adelaide United and Vasco da Gama man is 42 years old and was once described as “after Pele, the best Brazilian footballer of all time”. Who said this?
Romario.
- For anyone that cares, I’ll be watching the match at Nevada Smith’s in New York City … stop by and console me after Valencia lose … I mean, let’s celebrate our 2-1 victory together!!
(This optimism stuff is harder than it looks …)

Cesar, let’s hope for some luck tomorrow. They can do it! We need Maravilla. We need Silva to play with pace. We need Joaquin to be dangerous. We need our backline to work as a team. We need oodles of luck. We need to believe. I believe. Amunt!

I am so freaking nervous. We need this, but more importantly than that we should win.
Frankly our team shits all over Getafe (maybe except for de la Red). So apart from our form and everyone’s bandwagon love for Getafe,w e should win.

The bad news: Valencia now has less points than Osasuna. For that statistical fact alone, Koeman should be fired. The good news: I had a dream last night that I saw the three amigos–Albelda, Santi, and Angulo, who I strangely didn’t punch in the face as I’ve always imagined I would if we met–at a bar and we won the copa. Regarding the copa, I have the same feelings I had before the second leg of the semis against Barca: anxiety and nervousness, but with a strange sense of confidence that somehow they would pull it off. They did it then and they’re going to do it again manana. My recording of the game better damn well go smoothlym as I couldn’t take off work. I’ll be at Nevada Smith’s in spirit, and then I will be there in the flesh–Cesar and Daniel–for the Racing game this Sunday. AMUNT.

Our Davids are slowly leaving us…First Albelda, then possibly Villa and Silva. Well, I know Liverpool or rather Rafa Benitez has been eyeing Silva for the longest time. And who can blame him?
One question: Is there a chance that Gavilan will play against our boys? I totally forgot about that lad until I saw him in a TV interview talking about the Copa Del Rey final.
