By: dan_c | June 9th, 2011Transfer Window
Transfer window open is as wonderful as it is stressful for every football fan. Never do I check my phone for updates more regularly each day, never do I groan and moan and exalt at the suggestion of transfers, 97% of which will never happen, than now. While my teams (me being the type to have a side in pretty much every country in the world. Try me, I’ll have an answer, even for Faroe Islands) in other countries have been efficient and brought in players, Valencia has done little so far, aside from providing added depth to the GK department.
However if speculation is anything to go by, we have some real good deals to look forward to. Here’s a round-up of what I have heard in recent days regarding VCF.
Kevin Gameiro
Looks to be slipping out of the fingers. PSG look in pole position as they have an inflated budget to go with their new Middle-Eastern investors, and they are willing to match Lorient’s asking price and sign him NOW. Personally, I’m a little sad, but at the end of the day, a new goal scorer is not the priority.
Dani Parejo
A great young left back, playing for Getafe, has been heavily linked. Reports suggest that a fee with Getafe has been agreed for the 22 year old. Now we must just negotiate with Real Madrid, who have a buy-back clause in his current contract. I personally rate him. It is clear that we need defensive reinforcements, and young blood to challenge if not replace Bruno and Miguel is more than welcome.
He played in Real Madrid youth, had a season in England with newly promoted to Premier League Queens Park Rangers, and has made 64 appearances for Getafe to date. He does get goals, including scoring 1 against former club Madrid. He has represented Spain at all youth levels, including U21.
I rate him and would love to see him in Los Che colours.
Speaking of which, any news on Valencia’s new kit?
Andres Guardado
Another good young player. He is a full international for Mexico and I was certainly impressed with him at the World Cup last year, although it was his cross that created Mexico’s goal against my beloved Bafana that in the end knocked us out in the group stages. Bastard. And because of his cross a mexican behind me at the Cape Town Fan Park spilt his entire beer on my head. Bastard.
He can operate all the way down the left flank which is certainly useful. He is dangerous going forward, and should come cheap as his current club Deportivo (the sorry souls we sent down) need cash and he only has a year left on his contract. The fact that he is versatile, can help in defence has potential and won’t take too much to get makes him a good signing.
Cesar Azpilicueta
Yet another young player with plenty to offer at wing back, Cesar proved himself to be a great young talent when he debuted for Osasuna as a 17 year old against Real Madrid. He went on to make 99 appearances for Osasuna. Last summer he moved to Marseille, but injuries ruined his chances of excelling in the south of France. He seems keen for a return to Spain, and a bash at playing in the Champions League for the best team outside the Old Firm. Like Parejo, he has represented Spain at every youth level, including U21.
So…pick one I guess. If I had to choose I think I would take Parejo or Guardado.
On a lighter note, check what I found today. The media and tabloids have a reputation for pulling stories out of their asses to fill the columns and sell stories. This story though, is golden, quote courtesy of Goal.com.
The best story of all, however, involves a little known 16-year-old Malian midfielder, Oghenne Sayalongo. The teenager was a sensation at French side Rennes, he had been scouted by Barca but had chosen to sign for Malaga, AS reported on May 27. Sounds plausible, you may think. However, not only was this untrue, but Sayalongo does not exist. The “starlet with an enormous future” had been created by users on an Internet forum and they had even created a false Twitter account for their alter-ego, who wrote enthusiastically about moving to sunny Spain. From the surreal, to the unreal.
So, don’t believe everything you read in the newspapers.
Peace

i would say isco is more of a winger/am instead of a fwd.
the striking department is just lacking as usual hence the makeshift role for mata

-

Johnnie is right we have too many players that is what I always do in games in Valencia sell useless players and players that aren’t improving and replace some with younger better and cheaper players but I wouldn’t buy a new winger I will just use Feghouli as back up for Pablo and let Isco be in the first team I think he can do it but we need a solid CB I like Botia we seriously need to spend 10M or so on a CB we need a solid CB and Azpilicueta will be great if we sell Mathieu we could buy Jose Angel. We need a small but sold squad and some players that can play multiple positions in case of injuries.
I have a good feeling for next season

-

I’m in agreement wth everyting but selling mathiue he is our best defender

-

@Jose
I know Mathieu is good and all but rumors are that Roma are going to offer 10M for him so if we can get someone else for cheaper and is about the same as him why not right, plus Jose Angel has a lot of potential.

-

I wouldnt sell Mathieu, not for 10 million. If they pay 30 million (which nobody would), they can have him!

-

i would prefer to sell Mathieu for any price just get rid of him , hes not our best defender , he did bad last season .its obviouse that he was a weak-point common !!
wish Ever will not go , hes got a best to give us & we in need to a playe maker like him.
Guardado gonna be a gd deal if we get him ,hes a gd player & he gives his 100% in every match he play so we need like this type of players

-

reports in the last few days coming out of england state that a move for everton midfield maestro Mikel Arteta is on the cards. A direct replacement for Ever being lined up? I hope not, but I wouldnt be surprised

-

Personally I would loan out Isco, I dont think he’s ready to play in the 1st team yet and get regular minutes, particularly if Parejo is coming..
Maybe a loan to a mid/lower-table first division team would be the best option for him and the club.

and gameiro signs for psg

-

I dont mind selling Mathieu and getting Jose Angel from Sporting.

He knows it

Parejo to valencia cf for 6 mil is fair but is it true?

-

Your thoughts on the new shirt Rami was holding? Well at least its better than the one Levante has

-

i like mathieu and i wouldnt change him for the current j.angel. its allways exiting to buy young promising players but most of them end up dissappointing you. mathieu is mathieu and we know exactly the level we should expect from him.
but i doubt llorente turn down 8-9 mil for mathieu from roma, luckily he doesnt posses “barca-dna”:) so enrique wont sign him

-

Why do we not want Banega anymore?

-

Seems like the general idea of buying Parejo isnt too popular with the Valencianistas if i may believe the first reactions. I like Banega, wouldnt trade him in the world but Emery wants him out so i guess we’ll have to do with Parejo. Not a bad player, but inferior to Banega.
As for Mathieu, i agree with moe, new guy, always a challenge.
The senyera shirt, even though i love the flag, i think it is one of the ugliest shirts in sports history. Not so much the design, but the basic color composition, i would never in my life buy such a shirt.
So who do you guys think we should get as second CB? That i wonder, since everyone excepts a new RB and CB, but i havent seen any names yet. But for now, welcome RAMI

-

i want albiol, it could happen IF mourinho goes for a expensive cb. and if azpilicueta is fit togather with rami and mathieu we will have a pretty solid defence. with gameiro out of the picture we could afford it.

-

I have to point this out Parejo isn’t a LB… I have read that correct no?
It looks like you guys are hopefully going to have big competition next year in the form of Malaga, already signed Ruud, Toulalan looks to be on his way. Just wanted to ask your thoughts on Malaga?

-

Zizou I don’t think Malaga will be a threat next season since their aim is Europa League and we are aiming to close the gap between us and Barca/Real and go further in CL and stay 3 etc. So Malaga maybe a problem against us but in the League I don’t think they will be a major threat, of course they could surprise everyone but their aim is Europa League so for that reason I think they won’t be much of a threat.
Parejo isn’t a LB and I think he just mistyped it.
Zizou why did you guys leave the offside and went on to make another site(realmadridfootballblog)? I just want to know.

-

@Zizou I meant just wondering.
I don’t want to sell Banega I would rather keep him and if Chori leaves who knows he might change, and with the tactics I have in mind we need someone to fill that position, Tino could do that but what in case of injury and I don’t want to play Maduro or some other crappy player there so if we are going to sell Banega we to replace him.
We all know we need a CB and a RB, RB will hopefully be Azpilucueta and I think Ramis will be good I know Mallorca have done horrible in the league but they should have done a lot better and so Ramis will be good, of course if we can get Raul Albiol is would be better since he is a Valencianista so Ramis will do for me but if we can get better why not go for it because defense is more important than attack IMO and that is the case for us at the moment.

-

i dont know why everyone say banega will leave becouse of parejo, they are diffrent playertypes. could look like this:
—–topal–banega—-
——–parejo
–pablo———mata–
——-soldado——–

-

well,, i dont like the new shirts i prefer the white one soo sad!!!
@ moe we think banega will leave coz of emery not coz of parejo … plus he may get gd deals which is gonna be better for him i mean (banega)
i wanna him stay but i will play with tino also

-

And I just learnt that they ( Malaga) have signed Monreal the young Spanish maybe future LB of the national team from Osasuna.
Jafar, well Corey ( the writer) always wanted his own site, and I think 1 reason was because you get more creative freedom, you know with things like designs, layouts etc and plus we have 5 full time writers over on RMFB now. I always wanted to stay on the offside I think its great with all the other teams but I guess owning you’re own site is pretty cool.

-

I wanted Parejo to return to us, so thats a shame, but glad to see he’ll be playing CL football next year, I think he has a lot of talent, thats a good signing for you guys. Although I hope not to replace Banega.
Plus Jafar I hear the wordpress on the offside isn’t working very well atm.
