Joaquin ‘Talks’

Guess who’s sick? That’s right. Me.

Sick of Barcelona and Real Madrid stealing the spotlight every day!

But seriously, I’m sick. Sore throat, etc.

And Our Beloved have a game this weekend against a club who played one of the better matches of the Liga season against Barcelona last week – Sevilla FC.

Sevilla ain’t what they used to be, but that didn’t stop the humor-filled Joaquin from giving this match a tremendous amount of significance .

Our Beloved are currently third in the league with 54 points from 28 matches and are just three points ahead of fourth-placed Villarreal.

Our opponents? Seventh and three points off a Europa League slot.

However, Joaquin is not taking the challenge of Sevilla lightly and wants his side to gain maximum points against the Rojiblancos at the Mestalla. (Considering the whooping we took to lowly Real Zaragoza last week, we’d better do … better.)

“It’s clear that the season has been difficult in every sense but even though Sevilla aren’t at their best at the moment, we still can’t overlook them,” said the Spaniard, smiling awkwardly and breast feeding.

“It’s a home game and we can’t afford to drop points. It’s also a chance for us to forget about the past and get back on track with points at home. We have to be strong,” Pisha said, staring blankly into space for a good 20 minutes before starting to speak again.

“Above all, because teams competing for third place are going to come here, we can’t afford to let any points slip away.”

(What?)

Valencia went down 4-0 to relegation-threatened Real Zaragoza last week and were also knocked out of the Champions League by Schalke. But Joaquin, who played for Sevilla’s eternal rivals Real Betis, hopes for a bounce-back from his side.

“We know that the result from the other day cannot be repeated if we want to keep fighting for this third place,” said the man who breastfed until 25 years old. “We have to pick ourselves back up knowing that there are ten games left to play.

“We need to be more united as a team – not because of the defeat or the results that we’ve had, but rather because the final stretch is when everything comes together.

“It’s clear that we have ten finals to go and we can’t relax, we can’t waste all the good work that we did at the start of the season.”

And how.

Sevilla employ the likes of dirty ex-VCF player Alexis so this should be a rout.

But honestly, after what happened last week, who knows what’ll happen?

A win? I’d like to say so. But anyone who reads my Facebook profile knows I’m staying clear of that for awhile (although I did predict Barca-Madrid in the Champions League semis. Let’s hope I jinx that, too).

Amunt Valencia. I need to lay down.

Tactics were very similar to what we used when we fought (and lost to Schalke).

Detailed tactics were discussed here which is very good information.

Personally, i feel Mata is the problem.
No, i think hes a great player but he can’t be relied on to carry the hopes of the team, at least not yet. After losing Villa and Silva, Valencia have been trying to parade Mata as _THE_ player of Valencia, i think this pressure have an immense load on Mata.

Emery is trying to make Mata into a goal scoring machine, but I feel he’s a much better player playing on the left wing or as a classic attacking midfielder. Current problems I noticed is, when Mata is pushed forward, when the ball reaches Banega, Banega rarely releases the ball immediately to the strikers, he tends to hesitate for a while trying to pick out a good pass or doing the standard pass back after receiving a pass.

Major problems in our midfield linking up play, from the back to the front. Wasting precious attack opportunities, and lack of creativity. We need major work there as Tino Costa and Topal Mehmet didn’t deliver it for us there this season. We don’t have quality like Barca, trying to hard to play possession football with our squad can be suicidal. Gotta realise our limits and weakness to improve.

jonas is way better thn soldado.. soldado is below average!very depressing when emery keeps on giving some players chances and doesnt gve others for some reason… dominguez made a mistake oh well get over it,, he cn be useful so could vicente be,, but emery is taking it to the next level with disciplining the players who criticize him whn we all are! its hurting the team..

Here is my take on the game :

    - I dont think the starting lineup was correct from Emery. I like the 4-4-2 best but I personally would have :

    1) Not started with Dealbert, and start with R. Costa.
    2) Start with Adruiz instead of Jonas (he still needs time to adjust to the league).
    3) I would play Mata as a wing forward instead of playing him in this new “Silva” like role behind the strikers.
    4) Now that Miguel is back in the squad, why not include him on the bench? Miguel > Bruno. Now its become a personal issue with Emery and the player as the management has forgiven the player.

I dont blame Emery for us not scoring (at least not directly), but I blame him for the strange sub he made when he brought on Banega for Navarro and made Topal into a CB.

Now I know Topal has played as a CB before, but only as an EMERGENCY CB, not when you have your best defender on the bench : R. Costa. Was Costa injured? Why didnt he start or at least be subbed with Navarro injured?

Sure that change gave us more of an attacking flair, but everything on the pitch was chaotic without Topal bringing the tempo down and playing the link between the defense and the offense.

It might have worked against a much lesser team than Sevilla, but Emery gambled and I think that change cost us the game as Sevilla were able to reach our goalkeeper in two passes.

Manzano didnt do anything amazing, but he also didnt do any mistakes and in this match he was the better coach.

I am sick and tired of Emery’s constant tinkering, lineup changes and strange subs that have no logic in them.

Man of the Match : Vargas (true Emery’s change let them score, but Vargas was the one that stopped us from scoring).

@Qishen: I dont think Mata is the problem, I think this new “role” he’s been giving in the past couple of months is the problem. He’s not playing in the same tactical position as he did in the beginning of the year.

Remarks from Philosopher Emery after the event “There are positive things within the negative” (The negative being no goals I expect!)
” I wont criticise the team other than they didnt score and the defence could be a little better”
“Some of our players need to grow and become footballers”

There you are, now you know

Emery has again been helped out by unusual performances
by his near rivals. Español, fifth in the Liga lost 2-0 to Malaga, bottom of the Liga.Another 3 points in the kitty for him.

the opinion of you guys about mata is 100 % right.
the point is we despiratlly in need of a good striker coz yesterday all the chances were giving to soldado but he coudnt do anything plus aduriz should start from the begining.another point is sevills”s goal came from our defenders mistake so we need to work on it
all what is happining with the team show how emery is poor as a real coach

Aduriz cost us against Shalke and he was criticised. Now Soldado starts misfiring and suddenly Aduriz is better.
Lets face d fact.We have average players and an experimenting coach-Deal with it.
Until our financial situation changes,we’ll have to make do with the crumbs of unwanted players available.

i hope emery leaves in the summer. We dont have one single player that stands out. Man utd no offense have a fairly
average squad but rooney makes the difference. It is clear too see mata isnt that player. All tht money he spent on average players could have been spent on signing a standout player.

He is not able to spot star young players for e.g. Hernandez for man u cheap. Guiseppe rossi cheap.

Why? Do we insist on keeping fringe players del horno, renan and michel and etc keep em or get rid of them!

Sevilla and Atletico Madrid easily have a better squad but have not been producing results :p

    @Shaun d Che
i’m not asking for Mata’s head, i’m just begging for him to be played in his natural position. I rather have 1 outstanding winger with a medicore striker than a medicore winger and a medicore striker.

    @real aimar
we simply don’t have the money to get a star player, hence i suspect the grooming of mata for sale in future. you gotta have club stability before you can invest in a young player that could possibly be a dud, which is a luxury we didn’t have for the past few seasons. emery’s scouting scope is probably along the lines of above average or average. if it fails, we get a playable average player instead of gambling on a genius/dud youth.
