In Tribute to David Albelda
By: Cesar | December 20th, 2007
Not going to say much as I’ll write some proper posts on the recently sacked David Albelda and Santiago Canizares later.
Something about today’s press conference where David Albelda broke down and lost it really got to me.
This guy is our CAPTAIN. Ya ya, I know. I’ve been critical, called for his ouster, been at the head of the line saying he’s not been playing to his capabilities.
Still, this guy wore his heart on his sleeve. And he deserves a LOT better than he’s getting for a team he’s done so much for.
The lad’s from Valencia and this video from WorldSportHD is a nice profile in English of the captain. It’s about 5 minutes long and will make you remember some of the Valencia glory years of the early ’00s.
The other video I found is a nice piece in honor of Albelda complete with Valencia’s awful theme song playing in the background.
Still, a nice tribute to a great Valencianista.
Good player. Deserved not to play anymore. Deserved to ride the bench.
Didn’t deserve to be humiliated by the club he’s loved his entire life.

Sad times for us indeed… Albelda, Canizares and Angulo are more passionate about our club than Soler, Koeman and Ruiz could ever pretend to be combined… No revolution is complete until the head falls, what say we start a big Anti-Soler movement like the one we tried to get Sneijder here

It hurt to be a Valencia supporter right now. This is a disgrace. Treating 3 loyal old guards like this.
My god, you don’t kick out someone who had done so much for the club like he is nothing. I’m cursing myself right now for doubting Albelda’s love for the club with his performances in the past couple of years and when there’s rumours of him wanting to moving to Barca. But his tears are raw emotion and showed how much he love the club he gave everything for. Many fans are as choked up as he is.
Thank you for everything David and good luck.

And they expelled him on what ground? Bad leadership in and off pitch. WTF??? If Koeman thinks he’s bad as a captain, change another man.
Anyway, Good luck David. I kinda hoped that you would retire here and become a coach or something. Now it seems be over.

Soler and his daddy own the most shares in Valencia and thus is going nowhere.
For the first time in my 31 years on earth i refused to wear my valencia shirt while watching the game. we are no longer a team. We are a corporation that has no loyalty to its players or its fans. Screw them.
They are no valencianos

This is so retarded. These players have done so much for the team. Maybe they aren’t doing as good as they used to, so sit them on the bench. Raul does nothing on Madrid, but I don’t see him getting dropped. They should have at least sat on the bench, or played only sometimes. I feel especially bad for Cani, he is still one of the best players on the team, and he’s actually worth something. He’s a world class goalie. These 3 players have been on the team for so long, and have done so much for the team. The way koeman shoves and kicks them out of the team they love and have done so much for aggravates me. I love valencia, but the way that things are being run disgusts me. How can you kick 3 veterans out the door without a proper good bye? I don’t think they should’ve have been pushed out like that, they deserved better. As for the remaining talent, like Villa and Silva, they should find another team, a club who can shove great veterans out the window is not a loyal team that cares about their players.
