I Need to Get Paid!

A few notes of interest before our date with Osasuna at the always intimidating Estadio Reyno de Navarra this Sunday …

Spanish national team call-ups and Joaquin doesn’t make the cut …

Kind of a shame, as he’s had a decent season and has been lobbying for a return to the reigning European champions. Coach Vicente del Bosque sees things differently ahead of next week’s clash against England in Sevilla.

Our Beloved have four players included in the squad with Raúl Albiol, Carlos Marchena, David Silva and David Villa plying their trade for La Furia Roja. So those will be the players we complain are tired and looking under-strength in the weeks to come.

Barcelona over took us for number of player’s on the world’s #1 squad with 5. Serves them right …

Vicente says the squad isn’t worried about being paid late …

I guess when you’re a millionaire, there’s not much to worry about. You can always draw on your savings. Still, I’m sure it’s not a fun feeling to essentially work for free (oh, wait …).

“The situation is difficult, but everyone is very calm,” he told AS.

“A moment has come when the only thing we can do is train. The club has set a date [for our pay to come through] and we cannot go crazy and unbalance everything. What we have to do is to train and play.”

Vicente assured everyone that the players didn’t think this situation would arise. However, he contends that the squad is “not worried” because the delay is just under a week.

The winger also spoke his own personal situation at the moment, and more specifically, rumors linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur back in the winter transfer window.

He declared that he ruled the option out, because he feels “more at home” with Valencia and believes he still has “many years of playing” at the club.

Finally, he admitted that he is pleased with his improved form and will continue working so that he can be in the first team.

Good of Vicente to let everyone know he wants to play for Valencia. Football needs more people like El puñal de Benicalap Honestly, why isn’t he playing more?

Sporting director Fernando Gomez thinks the squad rocks …

And he’d be right. They’re playing for free and aren’t super angry at the president for not paying them … yet.

“We are very pleased with how the staff has accepted the slight delay in the collection of salary. The truth is that they have been understanding and it is a fact we should be thankful for,” Fernando said.

Fernando thinks the outstanding professionalism of the squad in the face of financial ruin is amazing.

“In tough times the union of all parties is essential to succeed. The staff knows that the economic management is being carried out directly by the president and hopefully for the good of all,” said Fernando.

Let’s hope so …

‘El Valencia se muere y Valencia se pelea’

Valencia is dying and Valencia is fighting …

So says Superdeporte writer Carlos Bosch in his opinion piece today.

Give it a go. I tried to translate it and then realized my salary hadn’t been paid. So I said, ‘Why bother?’
Hope the lads aren’t as fallible as I am …

Well, Mata had to go to the under-21’s, but I agree. Mata is a great player, and he deserves a spot on the first team. Its going to be tough from here on in for Valencia, what with financial problems, and the possible sale of arguably the best player on the team? I’ll settle for 4th place even, just so we can reserve a champions league spot. Yet, I think Valencia can work wonders at the UEFA Cup, because last year, when they were divided under koeman, they still pulled together to beat Barca in the Copa del Rey semifinals, and then win the whole thing. I think that when they want to come to win, they can.

By the way, the upcoming Spain vs. England match is bound to be great! I’m hoping Villa Maravilla continues his International goal streak. Its a game that we as #1 of the world should win.

If you were #43573457345th in the world, you’d beat England. Seriously, dont sweat it. There’ll be all the hype in the world before the match and all the build up you could possibly imagine, but we wont be a threat in the actual match. Especially as all of our best players have struggled with injury recently.

Hi, David gave 3 plans yesterday to save Valencia from the financial disaster that is round the corner, well I would like to add to that list a practical and immediate solution. WE DONT MOVE !! We sell the new site to Val.Govt. to turn it into a sports stadium or whatever. They pay us for all the building work already done. We would probably be left with about 50 million after paying everyone off. We still get our shirt money and our TV money and could go on a big spending spree.Home grown talent, Capel and Rossi would have good prospects

All this season playing good Liga matches, Copa matches and Uefa we have rarely, if ever, reached the halfway mark of the 55000 so what the hell can we do with a 70000 seater?? The fans will have to chat with their neighbours by mobile phones.I saw Fernando Gomez on the TV last night with his hard hat on walking about and looking up at the new structure and resembling Frodo in the Grand canyon. Lets drop the idea we wont be able to run it and will be in debt for the rest of our lives. Leave speculation to Soler and lets concentrate on Football

I never thought Joaquin was gonna be left out of La Furia’s squad…. He has been working like a mule!!! Btw, Miguel was called for the Portugal squad, he deserves it but I wish he didn’t have to go….
@Almendras: it looks impossible to fill a 75000 seater but I think that fans would love it, I mean, it’s a new stadium; fancy and $h**, so fans will give it a try, trust me. And, about Rossi, I would love to see him play for us….. I’m not too keen on diver Capel thou.

Capel? Thats one you can forget. :D He’s spat his dummy out over pay demands at Sevilla. Clearly he’s more interested in money than anything else and… Well there’s not much of that at Valencia. Wouldnt surprise me if he went to Manchester City in the summer for his payday.

Rossi though would be good partner and stand in for Villa. Think he’d be expensive though… Negredo and Llorente would surely be half the price and they are both having good seasons too.

Hi, for those that are hoping for the best I would say that if you run a business and it runs into serious financial problems, it is no good hoping it will cure itself. You have to do something about it or go bankrupt.

Mata isn’t great. If he was, he would have make it in the squad for the friendly. To me, Bojan has a lot more potential than him… (Even thought he’s underperforming lately). It’s a bad thing that they selected Carzola. I don’t know why but I hate that guy. I would largely prefer Joaquin or Navas rather than him. On the left flanck, they should have given Vicente a try. He couldd be the perfect after 70 th minute subber. He’s fast and has a clinical shot which could be detrimental.

For Portugal, I’m amazed that they didn’t call up Fernandes. He’s great recently. Probably because he hasn’t yet proven himself in all Europe. But, this’ll be a plus. Like that, he won’t get fatigued as the other 4.

Adim – Mata has the second most assists in the league behind only Messi. He’s responsible for the vast majority of Villa goals this season. Villa being Spain’s number 1 striker is an added reason why you’d want him in the side.

Lillo: You do mark a point. Their partnership from Valencia could create an offensive spark. But, Mata is inconsistent. He can play well for like two to three matches and let you down all of he sudden when you need him the most. However, Mata could be a great subber such as Vicente.

Those players run so fast that when you put them at the end of the game, their are like rockets. But, even quick subber must have a minimum of dribbling. I reminisce of a certain player, David Odonkor, I believe that he plays for Real Betis. He used to play for Germany. They always put him after the 85th minutes or so because he could run fast. Lol! He wasn’t able to do it. I guess that running fast doesn’t guarantee you a spot in the national selection.

Fayez: The timing is so perfect. Villareal is in bad shape. Athletico are just laughing around and finally Sevilla is falling from the stars. Valencia MUST win this one. But, I’m nervous. Osasuna has a “bad habit” to “overperform” when they play agaisnt big clubs. They were troublesome for Barcelona and played the troublemaker agaisnt Real Madrid who, by the way, didn’t deserve to win. Nonetheless, Manuel Fernandes (I’ll call him dread guy from now on lol) is back and Albiol too. So we won’t be stuck up with Maduro in the central defense. And since we’re playing agaisnt a weaker side, I would really like to see a glimpse of Carleto’s abilities.

Oh, and by the way, do you know what’s happening with all this commotion about the players not getting paid? Apparently, even Emery had his words on the affair. Probably this will be a lesson to them: play with heart, play for the fans and not solely for your money?!?

Watching Sevilla fail today was brilliant. 2-0 to Betis. jaja.. i bet Joaquin was cheering.

Anyways tomorro’s game will be tough.. Osasuna are a very difficult team to play against. I know Valencia are the better side and we should take the points. but Joaquin may not play.. that means we have Pablo there.. personally i think we should play Silva in for Joaquin if he cant play.

Im still terrified about our defence as well. but lets cross our fingers.

Is Vicente not able to play from the right? Its been a long long time since I saw him play a full season, but from what I can remember he was able to play from the right at times, with some dangerous in-swinging crosses and can cut inside to shoot. He does have a right foot he can use a bit too.

Silva and Villa were looking like hot shit up front together before Silva’s injury in the supercup, so I think if they continue to play right next to each other it should spark up again.

Mata will have his time to shine on the national team soon enough. I am so glad to see Spain #1. I was in Spain all throughout the Euro tournament this past summer and it was awesome to see how the entire country came together each and every night the team played.

Soccer in Spain just brings all people together. It’s a shame we don’t really have that in America. Nowadays it all seems to be about “me me me” and $$$$, with basketball and football. I sadly think America will NEVER be able to compeat with other countries in soccer.

As for the game tomorrow, the soccer gods seem to be with us right now with Sevilla losing and Villarreal struggling. We get Fernandes and Albiol back, which will be a big help. I’m going on a limb and saying Cesar (the goalie) will get his first clean sheet for Los Che. It seems like it has been quite a while for us since we have had one! We win 2-0 with a goal from El Guaje and one from Silva!

    AMUNT!

Guys although this would be a tough match I cant see Osasuna scoring 3 goals against us…Im not saying they might not win this but they certainly arent a team that is capable of playing attacking football and scoring 3 goals in one match. They’ve only scored 22 goals in total so far in 21 games.

With Joaquin out, I dont think Pablo is good enough to play on that side..so maybe Emery can use Silva (both Mata and Vicente are relatively useless on that side).

The most important thing is that we become very alert defending…Osasuna’s strength lies in their defending and their holding midfielders. The good news is Neukonam is out of this match (he is their best player in my opinion).

I personally am feeling good about this game. I’m not quite sure why, because my head tells me we’ll struggle, but I see a 3-0 or 3-1 (prolly more likely) scoreline.
I agree with putting Silva in Joaquin’s place and then putting Vicente wide left. I was reading an article that said Emery has been working on defense all week. I feel that we might somehow get that clean sheet we’ve been looking for (good team to try to get it against).
Anyway, the game I’m sure will be tougher than my heart says. Personally, let’s get that easy goal and then KEEP THE PRESSURE UP! No more trying to sit on a one goal lead. Let’s get up 3 goals then we can sit on it! Actually, let’s never sit on it!

Wouldnt get your hopes up with the defence :D Seems to need about a year’s work, not a week’s.

Also, why are we making the point that he’s been working on the defence? Is that to suggest he hasnt been working on it for the past 4 or 5 months? :s

Is Vicente not useful on the right hand side then? With your fluid attacking play, everyone – Villa, Silva, Mata, Vicente, Miguel – All of them will appear on the right flank at some point, so its not really an issue anyway. But from what I can remember of Vicente at his best that Messi and Robben role of a left footed winger coming inside from the right actually seems tailor-made for him. A dangerous crosser and a good striker of the ball who can beat his man. No?

@lillo: The problem with Vicente is that his right foot is almost useless….I think ive seen him play once on the right (I cant remember who it was under – maybe Ranieri or Claudio Lopez?). He was really clumsy on that side so im not so sure it would work out.

Alright. Although I’ve seen him smash a few right footed shots home – which is more than I can say for Silva :D

Silva is a lot more dangerous in the middle I find, where he can use his vision to its max. And I fancy Vicente to come inside and score more often than Silva.
