Holy Sh*t! Villa Takes Walk in Madrid!!!

By: Cesar | May 20th, 2009

Stop the presses.
Our worst nightmare has come true.

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
But being the Offside’s Valencia CF blogger, it’s my duty.

Take a seat. Take a deep breath.
Want a cup of tea to sooth your senses?
Comfortable? Breathe in, breathe out …

There now. Ready?

So here’s the news:

David Villa took a walk in Madrid yesterday.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO …

Obviously, this means he’s off to Real Madrid. He’s gone, my friends. Gone …
Oh, whatever will we do without our beloved ‘El Guaje’?

At least we have Curro Torres …

The Spanish press continues to deliver the hard ‘news,’ telling us that Villa was in Madrid shopping with his wife a day after their match against Atletico Madrid. The horror!

This ridiculous piece of non-news even made the front pages of Spanish rags MARCA and AS.

Honestly, can these ‘newspapers’ sink any lower?

I’m not going to go off on another ‘Cesar v. MARCA’ rant. No worries there.
This news story is kind of funny, to be honest.

The one thing that stands out about Villa’s stroll through the posh boutiques of Madrid yesterday are some of the things he said.

Villa told AS: “Next year I will be in the Champions League. There are many rumors, but I ignore them. I will decide what is best for my future. But Valencia fans should not be upset that other clubs want their players. They should be proud.”

I’m proud. But what I’d like to know is how he proposes to play in the Champions League if he’s with us.

Have you checked out the standings, Davey? We need some goals, my brother! We need your help!

Check out Four Four Two’s excellent La Liga Loca blog and what they had to say about this Villa non-news item …

“Valdano negotiates with Villa!” yells Marca. “Villa takes a walk to Madrid!” screams AS. “Over my dead body!” splutters Raúl.

Those were Wednesday’s headlines that greeted the appearance of David Villa in the streets of the Spanish capital the day before – an appearance that had him pestered and probed by stalking hacks and photographers.

The Valencia striker was seen with his wife (face blurred by AS, but not Marca) strolling hand-in-hand through the sunny streets!

The Valencia striker was seen near the Santiago Bernabeu!

The Valencia striker was in town to “buy a suit for my brother-in-law’s wedding,” explained the man himself.

‘Doesn’t matter!’ was the answer from the Madridista press desperately hoping that at least one of their Ribery, Ronaldo, Kaká, Silva, Zlatan, Villa, Wenger, Mourinho, Ancelotti stories comes true over the summer.

Only in Spain, my friends. Only in Spain.

    Haha good stuff

James, it’s obvious. Real Madrid has a lot of strikers, but Villa is better than all of them

Goal.com also said Manuel Fernandes was “highly doubtful” against Real Madrid three weeks ago. They are idiots. They said Miguel would start one match like a month ago when he wasn’t even in the squad…

I still think Bilbo will either beat or draw with Athletico, it is such a tough place to go, as much as i want us to win realistically it is going to betough our away record is rubbish!
    This week decides it!!!!

Also a lot was made out of the Aguero dive but really the main issue should have been the two goals we had disallowed for “offside” the referees are sooo shyt in Spain, these days it is not the teams who determine their fate it is the referees!

Well, with Villas ” Next year I will be in the Champions League (and) Valencia fans should be proud other clubs want their players” It is easy to see why he hasnt managed to score one goal in the last 4 matches.
I cant see his enthusiasm getting us a winning result on Saturday either. I wondered what was wrong. Almendras

It will be much harder for us to win at Villareal then Atletico to drop points at Bilbao.BTW,what are the rules if 2 (or more) teams have same number of points at the end?Goal difference or better score between clubs?

@Bane the head to head results between the 2 clubs if im correct.

@El rey goal.com states Vicente is a doubt as well, so it’s not ruled out he can play.

@Kyle Well i would love orange as a sponsor! fits nice with the team colours as well so it might also produce a decent looking shirt :)
