Amunt Valencia! Amunt Sempre!
By: Cesar | March 22nd, 2007Hi, my name’s Cesar and I’m the biggest Valencia CF fan in the United States.
Well, let’s clarify that:
I’m often the only Valencia fan.
At least it feels that way.
Sure, I meet other Valencia fans here and there. Usually because they’re visiting the States, passing through.
I’m always running into Man United and Liverpool supporters, Barcelona and Real Madrid fans.
But where are the Valencia fans? When do I get the chance to hang with my brethren here in the USA, chanting the names of Joaquin and Vicente, cheering David Villa’s goals and Canizares’s saves?

It’s not often.
I’ve been through many memorable times with the club.
Watching them lose two Champions League Finals. A heart wrenching defeat to Spanish rivals Real Madrid. A bittersweet loss to Bayern Munich, Canizares crying furiously after the game.
Seeing them win La Liga twice. So unexpected. After the European heartbreak, so pleasurable to see.
A UEFA Cup victory over Olympique Marseille. Sad European eliminations to Inter Milan.
A bright shining star in Rafa Benitez guiding us to titles.
A haggard Claudio Ranieri dragging us down the trenches.
A stirring comeback against Arsenal. A lamentable thrashing by Werder Bremen.
Watching Claudio Lopez and Mendieta leave. Hailing the arrivals of David Villa and Joaquin.
Watching Valencia at the Mestalla, smelling the salty Mediterranean air.
Having copas with Canizares, talking in broken Spanish.
Wearing the safety orange shirt with pride.
Being the only Valencian voice in a sea of Man U and Madrid fans. Watching them destroy the likes of Liverpool and Barca, smiling with glee.
I may be the only fan most of the time, but sometimes that’s a source of satisfaction. Why try to fit in? Why cave and become a Barca fan, just because they’re good?
I’ll stick to Los Che, my silent cheers having to do for now.
Now bring on the Chelsea! Amunt!

Welcome! Great to see such enthusiasm and passion for your team. I see tons of Barcelona shirts here in the States, but never Valencia.

I’ve been praying that The Offside would add a Valencia blog and the day is finally here
Valencia definitely deserves some serious recognition because we are easily one of the best teams in the world. Amunt!Posted from

I don’t think I would consider myself a Valencia fan, but I certainly have lots of respect for them, especially Canizares. Either way, welcome aboard from France and Toronto

Greetings! It’s good to finally have a Valencia blog in English, I have to say. Looking forward to reading your thoughts.
And finally, may I just wish Los Che the best of luck against Chelsea. After Barca got knocked out of the CL, I really want Valencia to win it – it’s about time someone other than Barca and Real did out of the Spanish clubs.
(Beating Chelsea on the way would just be a massive bonus. Amunt!)

I’m a Barca fan but I do believe Valencia deserves greater recognition, it’s nice to see a Valencia blog here, especially since La Liga is so underrepresented. I’ll be rooting for the Ches in the CL.

I already mentioned this in a previous message, but really, good luck with this blog. I don’t run a blog myself, but I’m sure it must be much work, though hopefully rewarding in the end.

Great picture… I love Villa and Silva. Especially the goal Silva had vs. Inter and Chelsea. He is so fantastic and will be more in the future. He made me forget Vicente already. Anyway, they two are different…
BTW, can I ask what does the word “Amunt” mean? I can’t seem to find a definition for that. If anyone knows, plz email to me at cherrtwang1006@gmail.com . Thanks anyway.
