focus ALMERIA
By: Javier | October 25th, 2009
So the stars have aligned and the weekend thus far has worked out beautifully for los Che to move up int he table.
A win in Almeria and we move up to 5th place and within striking distance of the top 4.
These are a vital 3 points.
Now Valencia, truth be told should win this.
Silva is in.
Joaquin is healthy.
Baraja is healthy and looks like Villa is set to be in as well.
That means a full squad.
Also looks like Navarro has received the nod from Emery to play in Center Back.
This is good news.
Miguel Dealbert Navarro Mattheiu is our best back line. Alexis is simply in poor form and needs to sit a while. Also Navarro is a solid defender and deserves his place in the back line.
Cesar in net also calms my nerves to no end. Knowing that our goalie is solid and that the defence is competant means our team is good. The rest is on the Attack.
And what an Attack we have .. Pablo, Mata, Silva, Banega, Villa.
If we dont score at least 2 goals in this game i would be shocked.
A healthy A team Valencia should not lose in Almeria.
All that said. Almeria are not a pushover team. Emery’s old boys that only last season rose to the ranks of la primera have impressed thus far. They have become a mid table team that manages to steal points from above and below. They do surprisingly welll.
Málaga-Almería 1-2
Barcelona-Almería 1-0
Almería-Racing 2-2
Atlético-Almería 2-2
Almería-Getafe 1-0
Their only recent loss has come away at Barcelona. An understandable defeat but also only allowing 1 goal in Nou Camp is a feat. Also they have beaten Getafe which tore los Che a new A hole. Dont expect a pushover. This is going to be one tough match.
Valencia need to score early and play just like they did against Barca. This is not the B team. No excuses like during the mid week Europa league match which i purposely ignored and put behind me.
3 points here and we are on track.
My prediction this week. Almeria 1-2 Valencia crossing fingers.

All jokes aside, Pellgereni has been given two matches, if he loses he’s out of Real.
If Emery doesnt get us into at least 4th place by the end of the season, then Manuel Pellegreni wouldnt be such a bad option for us.

-

@fayez
thanks bro ……. well if emery have to go i think we should try to sign Richard ((barca coach before beb)) i think he suit the players style and his tactics suit the kind of players we have.
manuel and banega in midfiled and we have good wingers plus villa in the center.

-

@alfahd2007 who is Richard? If ever Emery leaves then we need someone proven not someone else we say that let’s give him time and he will learn.

-

@kooshin: I think he meant Frank Rijkaard? Anyway he is coaching in Turkey right now.

-

Hey guys.I just read in shit.com that fernando has said we have to sell villa and already manchester utd is closing on a deal to get both villa and silva for 40 Million Pounds..
now although i dont believe this.does anyone hear any recent conversation from Fernando gomez saying our financial situation is tood bad that we have to sell villa.???and abt real madrid…HE HA HA HA HE HAAAA!!!!!

-

i just read sunny might be suffering from INfluenza A ….
may he recover soon an play more games and developfurther to join us in a year or two…

-

@Siva: Yeah that “article” is from the Daily Mirror (i.e. bullshit). But I think it has a lot to do with Fernando said, although he didnt exactly state that we should sell everyone, he did say that our financial situation is still bad and we might lose someone (or more) in the summer. I think it all depends on the world economy and whether we qualify for the CL or not.

-

Yup, I think thats pretty much what he said. Anyway, with us seemingly on track for a CL position finish this season, selling Villa/Silva during winter would be a big blow.

-

i use to say sell villa instead of silva, but now i think we shoud sell silva if we had to choose… If silva goes to any other club he will perform amazingly, i know it, but in valencia hes just nt interested in playing here, he doesnt have the spark to drive him to play to his full potential! i think from the inside he wants out thats why hes great while playing for Spain but never plays like the Silva we knew before. so id say sell silva! altho would be hard to replace him! but maybe VDV could.

-

@fayez, i got it now. I think it will be ok but we will need a coach with a good defending mentality.vDv will be nice but to replace silva? I don’t think so because villa and silva have a great understanding that is hard to replace with someone else.

-

firstly none of our regular players will leave in januari, secound if silva would leave we could replace him with cheaper alternatives who in time would settle in ( giovenco, hamsik? etc…) but replacing villa is very very difficult and even spending 20 mil wouldnt be enough theese days.
vdv would do well too in silvas position not banega since vdv is poor at defending but if hamsik would come half silvas price i would go for him

-

I would want valencia cf to stay more spanish.. and not recruit more foreigners because when the 6+5 rules comes up .i think valencia will be even more stronger and ..
RM,Atletico,seville will all go down…

-

The Daily Mirror is so reputable. We held out for 50 mill for Villa this summer, yet we’ll sell Villa AND Silva to Manchester for 40 mill. Seems pretty sensible. Bloody muckrakers.

-

CD Alcoyano 14 : 00 Valencia
i wonder who will be played. I imagine no first team players. It would be pointless.

-

LoL. Villa and Silva for 40 million. Sure why not knock off 5 million and also give them Villa and Banega.
All those papers are such crap.
Real Madrids loss was hillarious. They look just horribad.
Arbeloa is a horrible dfender. Albiol even worse.
Honestly Dealbert any day of the week.

-

Fernando basically stated the obvious.
To paraphrase:
We can’t keep ALL of our best players forever. It’s impossible. We need to sell to buy. Anyone who thinks we can keep all our players and improve financially is stupid. We are still in serious shit financially.
All of this is obvious…

-

@ Fayez
If you mean the Spanish construction industry by world economy than dont get your hopes up, Spain has a looooooooong way to go before that market is good again, unfort.I guess for us it will be time to sell some players, if so i’d prefer Silva for Villa of course. We got some good talents and Silva imo can be missed the “most”. But its not summer yet, and we got a long way to go. Please dont start calling heads already cause of the end of the season, we’ll decide than if Emery is the best for us or not.

-

@moe: I agree, we could replace Silva if we desperate for cash (I love ur suggestion of Hamsik, although he would be costly!). Personally I think Hamsik is slightly better than Silva (he is also a year younger than Silva) and scores more goals.
There are three things I dont like about Silva :
1) He isnt a great finisher, he should score more goals in his position. At least as much as Pablo and Mata.
2) He is very moody…one game he is world-class and then next he vanishes.
3) He seems to preform better on an individual level with the national team.

-

@Johnnie: Yeah I guess youre right about the economy (I mean you come from a business background and I dont hehe ), from what ive noticed here that the oil-rich countries in the Middle East are barely recovering so I can imagine Spain to be in a much worse situation than we are. Let’s hope for the best and as you said its a long way to go until June when all the fun starts.

-

I don’t buy into the whole ‘Silva performs better for Spain’ idea, at least yet. Its a theory I’ve heard only from Lillo and I’d advise waiting a little before taking it up and extrapolating. Silva’s role in the national team is different and he has a couple of other central midfielders who are excellent at keeping possession and holding the ball in the attacking third.
As for being moody/consistent, I’m not sure where that comes from, but like I said before, he was behind only Xavi in assists/game last season. And his contribution, as a distributor, is much more that just providing assists. I’d say that is pretty consistent.

@ Fayez
When Dubai and such get back on track, see if Valencia can follow. Dubai is also heavily dependent on Real Estate / Construction, same as Spain. I read that Dubai only generates 6% of its income from oil, kinda surprising, but that also explains why UEA and others are also feeling the crisis heavily. As for Silva, like others say he plays a different role, plus he has a different midfield naxt to / behind him. If we sell Silva we’ll have to change our play style totally, cause nobody fits his role in Valencia. Time for a true second striker i guess, or a VDV indeed.

-

word on the street is that we have another 18 months to go,zapatero keeps seeing green shoots but i think thats more to do with what he is smoking these days…having said that ive seen five beach apts sold just this week in one block
villa and silva for 40m to man who…………,thats funnier than madrid losing

-

6+5 is it allready decided upon? it will help worlds richer clubs to dominate even more? barca and real dont buy zlatans and benzemas or riberys or kakas. they want silvas and villas and matas. and what do we end up with who have a salery roof of 1,8 mil?

-

the 6+5 is uefa s worse ideas yet.
