El Corazon del Escudo … Or, I’m Nervous
By: Cesar | April 16th, 2008Here we are, Cup final day. And I’m nervous as can be …

I’m in New York City, 9am on a sunny spring day, awaiting the sight of my team playing in Spain’s version of the Super Bowl. The King Juan Carlos will be there as will many dignitaries and celebrities. Bands will play, songs will be sung, confetti will be flown and large crowds will cheer.
Knowing Valencianos, paella will be eaten and many fireworks will be lit! Wish I could be there …
Not much to say … watch this video to get a sense of what the 1999 Cup run was like … Claudio Lopez’s final goal will forever go down as symbolic of that magical Valencia team, one that started us down the path to the glories of 2000 and beyond.
If you have time, watch this cute video of fans getting to Madrid

Tonight, it’s about saving face, enjoying one moment in an otherwise dismal campaign.
Let’s just enjoy the game! And as the cover of today’s Superdeporte says, ‘Como Kempes y El Piojo’ … Let’s do it like they did so long ago …
AMUNT!!!!!
