Dreams Can Come True … Mourinho to Valencia?
By: Cesar | October 26th, 2007
Can it happen?
Can Jose Mourinho, the Special One, call the Mestalla home?
Can President Juan Soler fire Sir QQ Sanchez Flores, the Sir Alex Ferguson of the Levante region minus the titles and success?
Can it be?
According to Catalan paper Sport, Valencia have held negotiations with José Mourinho about him becoming their new coach for next season.
Oh, I’m shaking at the prospects …
The Catalan daily reports that Ché president Soler met with the Portuguese trainer’s agent, Jorge Méndez, to open tentative talks between the two parties.
QQ’s contract is up at the end of the current campaign and after an inconsistent start there is pressure on him to step down.
Following the Champions League defeat against Rosenborg in midweek it is believed that the quest for a new coach has been stepped up, although Flores could still survive if he turns the season around.
Mourinho may be tempted to take over at the Spanish outfit as they have a strong pedigree in the league and in Europe and a huge squad already in place.
One stumbling block could be the former Chelsea boss’s wage demands as he was on a vast salary at Stamford Bridge, which Valencia could not match.
While other major clubs have made their intentions known, the Mestalla-based outfit are keen to cement a relationship with Méndez for when a serious proposal will be required.
Imagine … can it be? Can this possibly be for real????
I doubt it, but I can dream right?
Or is someone now going to say that Flores is a wonderful coach and we should give him time? Hmm …

This would be fantastic if it’s true. If it’s not, I’m always more than happy if we get Lippi, or better, Juande

Would wages be that big of a stumbling block? I mean he did get a really, really, really nice golden parachute from Chelsea (something like 20m pounds?), so he possibly might look for a good challenge rather than for just the money alone. Sure, he won’t come for a few kopeks, but I don’t know if he’d ask for the same wages at Chelsea, unless of course a two or more team bidding war for his services should arise.
It’d be interesting to see how Mourinho would play out in Spain. He’d certainly give the slugs at Marca something to write about, as he’s good for a quote or two. Where Flores wilts under the pressure of the press, Mourinho seems to understand what it takes to deflect the pressure off the players. Flores really can’t seem to do that, at all.
One beef I’d have with Mourinho is that he didn’t really bring alot of players from Chelsea’s youth squad into the fold…but then again that is probably because their youth system pre-Mourinho was, well, somewhat garbage. In order to be consistently competitive in today’s football world you need a good youth system.

Cesar,
I have probably been the most notable Quique Sanchez supporter on this blog. And yes, I have seen the devestation that is happening. I must admit, its hard to defend him right now, but what I’ve learned about Valencia is they have been CONSISTENTLY INCONSISTENT.
It really does hurt to see this. The games they have lost with some really poor showings;
However, IF (and its a big IF) Valencia were to replace Quique, I would love to see them bring in Mourinho. I hate CHELSEA, but I liked Mourinho and was sad to see him go. He made the EPL better with his character on the sideline; but he’s not one to stay out of work too long. He is a great coach, but I just dont see him taking the Valencia job when in 1-2 yrs. he can be at Real Madrid.
For Jose, Valencia is just not the most appealing job.Dont get your hopes up, that dream is as likely as Wesley Sneidjer or Van der Vaart joining Valencia. Did you hear who wants him now? Chelsea, and their assistant manager Ten Cate(also dutch) not lookin good. He’s(van der Vaart) not in our scope anymore.
–Later Cesar.
P.S.
Hope we can still find something to cheer for with Sevilla coming and Real Madrid 3 days later on Halloween.
I pray we get 4 pts. from these 2 games. Erase that; I mean, I pray we get ANY pts. from these 2 games. See, Im still positive.Posted from

Ironic, that Rosenborg, if it all unfolds, the reason for Mourinho’s departure from Chelsea and arrival at Valencia!

hope we lose badly against sevilla and Real Madrid.. i would sacrifice tht to boost the speed of the feet that is going to kick QQ in the ass,,, and bout mourinho,, as much as i would love him to be our coach.. i dont see it but who knows. nithing is impossibe u never know what he is thinking… Vicente is back can’t wait to see him all around our left wing but i doont think QQ is goin to lett him in from the start because he hates change and always lloves to prove tht his choice of players can win but lool he never gets anybdy’s satisfaction. and Franky seriously….. why did u put ur self in tht situation? were u tht blind to see tht QQ is the problem.. lol

hehe 1st half and we r behind with 2 goals.. our defense think they r wrestlers,, i think they r just playing rough to hide the fact that they cant do shit to stop kanote and alves and j. Navas… and did u see marchena,,, loool guy just said tht he is one of the black spots in valencia, and i dnt know how he is in the international team and how QQ always starts with him… i say 5-1 to sevilla

Just got home from watching Sevilla demolish us…
I don’t know where to start, from Navas making Moretti look like a schoolboy, to Albiol & company’s generally poor defending to the way our attack was Arizmendied in the first half.. and not even improving by much when he was replaced.
The only things to cheer are Vicente’s return and the fact that this defeat should move Soler into action to bring the axe down on QQ… although I doubt anything will happen before the Madrid game

umm franky ur a bit late lol. i have been celebrating 8 hours ago.. plus why you sad? celebrate with us… or do u want Valencia to keep on losing?

I want to celebrate.. I do.. but its a bad time at the club… I hope it doesnt take long for the team to recover. I know players play better when a coach has been fired, but the way that defense is, those defenders cant cut it. They are stuck with them until the transfer window opens. Im worried till January and the February group stage in the CL is over and we advance as the no.2 team in our group.

If Mourinho comes to Valencia I’ll make a party,He’s a fantastic coach, but Lippi,Del Bosque and Capello too…They could be good for us!

I’m happy that QSF is gone but I have mixed feelings about Mourinho. I’d still like to give him the benefit of doubt (if he decides to take the offer) as he led Porto to Champions League triumph but its hard to judge anything based on his exploits at Chelsea.
I’d be very happy to see Gus Hiddink, Ronald Koeman, Didier Deschamps or even Rafa Benitez back in the hot seat.
Didier Deschamps is without a job at the moment.

really i dont thing so. valencia is not in the top, and dont have the money necessary to mourinho build a team that be a mirror of his espectular footbal.

Is there no Uefa rule about a coach being in charge of two teams during the same Champions League season?
I know players would be Cup-tied but what about managers?

My opinion is that we must be a bit more settled down about the things happening in our team nowadays.QSF didnt manage to make team perform well this year, but it is not his fault that we could not get Schnider, either van de Vaart,or Lucho Gongalez!it is not his fault either that Ayala has left.Vicente,Edu,M.Fernadez,(the real back up of Baraja),are still out of field!Last year we would be champions if not too many injuries! We won INTER Milan! We couldnt with Benitez.Perhaps it is the right moment for QQ to leave,(i never liked his conservative mentality)but i dont either like Mourinio’s mentality.I would hate to see BALLACK in our team!!!He will make a lot of changes!I LOVE OUR TEAM WITH ALL THESE SPANISH PLAYERS!!

maurinho is no good for valencia,he can only manage them when they have a fortune more than $2million.take for instance fabio cappello the only coach ever to win league title with each and every club he has managed.so why should he fail with valencia who have experience at all levels.what about marcello lippi,he managed italy national team for two and half years and the entire period ,he only lost one match to slovenia.he beat germany in their backyard forcing klinsman to step down.he eventually beat sturbon france.otherwise ronald koeman is not too good also.he can only come out second but cant deliver the priority(title).Or bring back hector cuper.for me i can put them in this order of best marcello lippi, hector cuper, fabio capello, vincente del bosque, jose maurinho & ronald koeman
