Day 5: Racing Santander and Trivia Answers
By: Cesar | March 21st, 2009
Tomorrow’s the big day!
No, not our impending match against Racing Santander in the capital of Cantabria.
I’m talking about the 2nd anniversary of the Valencia Offside!!
That’s right. Tomorrow’s the 2nd anniversary of the blog, so please make sure to stop by for punch, some cookies and cake, the Santander match (I’ll be here for live chat) and a reposting of the first ever blog post.
Fun fun!
What was happening way back then? Well, not to depress our selves, but a 2nd round Champions League match-up against Inter Milan was in the cards. Seems like more than 2 years ago. But that’s the way the ball bounces.
So back to the match. It’s Racing Santander, who we lost to 4-2 at the Mestalla way back in November. In many ways, that match started our eventual downturn.
We were in first place when the match began. After Mohamed Tchite’s sterling hat trick, we were 4th and haven’t been the same.
And we won’t be the same tomorrow either as David Villa, David Silva, Joaquin and Miguel won’t be available. Throw in a suspended Carlos Marchena and you see where this is going.
Tomorrow’s squad? Cesar, Guaita, Curro Torres, Maduro, Albiol, Alexis, Moretti, Carleto, Albelda, Baraja, Fernandes, Vicente, Angulo, Edu, Pablo, Míchel, Mata and Morientes.
Curro Torres may get a run. Oh boy …
Previews? Here’s Kyle’s from Loco 4 Los Che and goal.com’s ever-so-brilliant one.
Who do they think will win?
Racing are missing three of their forwards, including the monumental loss of Zigic. Valencia, however, are also missing players, including their most potent weapon, and are far too inconsistent to inspire confidence ahead of this one. All signs point to a draw.
Racing Santander 1-1 Valencia
So there.
Make sure to stop by tomorrow for the live chat and anniversary celebrations. And someone please spike the punch …

Maybe I should have phrased that differently and said, ‘What is the former name of the Mestalla?’
Anyways … this is why I am not a real journalist, but a blogger!
Thanks guys. Duly noted.

Marchena being suspended might have something to do with it

Hey, Raul Albiol just friended me on Facebook.
Or … accepted me rather …

Well, If I were you, I wouldn’t trust the person. You know, on Facebook, I used Iago Falqué as a pseudonym and dozens of people came and asked me if I was the real one. Plus, there are so many people who used famous name to attract a lot of people.
Valencia will win it, I think. I feel it nonetheless because I’m starting to think that the players have enough and want to change things around just because they want to show something new. If they really cared about their fans, they would be thinking that way… *coughs*Manchester united lost against Fulham*coughs*
I wish them the best of luck.Posted from

Anyone predict we’d win tomorrow? We havent won since Feb!!!

@Fayez, are you sure you weren’t on an acid trip? Angulo scoring twice and us winning? I’m worried about you, mate. We might need a cyber intervention here. @Adimente, yes, I loved that the US national team, I mean Fulham, beat them today. Also, I won some money by betting on Arsenal to win today. Hope it continues.

There is only 1 American at Fulham now, Clint Dempsey. Brian McBride is at Chicago, Casey Keller is at Seattle, Eddie Johnson is on loan at Cardiff, and Carlos Bocanegra is at Rennes in France.

Kyle, you’re killin’ my buzz! Ha

I’m gonna kill your buzz evem more. Since all the Americans left, Fulham is a better team!!! hahaha. Their new manager might have something to do with that though. And Brede Hangeland in defense has been solid. He is a Norwegian international, but was actually born in Houston, Texas.
Valencia is playing so badly at the moment, the US national team could probably beat them.
Okay, well… probably not

Kyle, I’m not so sure …

Have a fave English team?Posted from
United States

No. The only team I support in any league in any sport is Valencia. When I move to South Korea I’ll support Busan I’Park. When I move to Indonesia I don’t know who I’ll support yet. I’ll probably live in Jakarta, so some team from there. When I live in Turkey I’ll support Fenerbahce. Then I’ll move to Spain and Valencia will once again be my only team. I’ll only support those other teams cause I need someone to root for while I live there. I watch MLS, and Columbus is my team, but I’m not hard core about them like I will be for everyone else.
Valencia is my only real team though. I watch less and less EPL now. I watch mainly la liga.

No Tchite, Zigic or Munitis, only Pereira is available for Racing. Normally I would say that Valencia has an edge with Silva, Mata and Vicente in the first team but these days you can’t really tell….
