David Villa is Awesome

I really don’t want to lose this guy this summer …
I’m resigned to it … I expect it …

But for now, let’s think positive … this, David Villa’s goal against Italy last night in their friendly match …

Some other news:

- Apparently Valencia are interested in bringing back Rafa Benitez … We’re not the only suitors, as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid also fancy our former coach … Interesting proposition. I never wanted him to leave in the first place.

- Nikola Zigic will join Real Sociedad from Valencia at the end of the season if the club gain promotion back to the Spanish top flight.
*YAWN* … why did we buy this guy in the first place?

- Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia says we want him …

“I’ve heard about Valencia, we’ll see at the end of the championship,” he said. “If they sold [Timo] Hildebrand, then it could be feasible.

“Right now, I am focused on saving Livorno. But I hope President [Aldo] Spinelli won’t block me from moving to a big club in the summer.”

He’s Gianluigi Buffon’s heir apparent in the national team …

I dunno anything about him. What do you think?

  hehe aljazeera sport channel, thats where i watch my valencia matches! :)…realy nice goal from Villa…cant wait to see how Koeman is going to shake the team!i think tht zigic is a great player and i dnt want him to leave cz i think he dint get his chance, but yet i think hes too slow and doesnt fit every match, i dnt no tht guy confuses my judgement on him. Timo is a great goalkeeper but he needs to get rid of his stupid expensive mistakes! i think we need a striker in morienes place and a Left-bck, and center defender, and a strong player behind the strikers!

  Forget Van der Vaart.. Valencia’s midfield is gonna be crowded next season.. Ever, Maduro, Baraja, Sunny, Edu; then Pablo Hernandez returning, probably Sisi and Gavilan, not to mention the fact that Fernandez is still on our books.. and all this is assuming that we’re playing the way we do now with Silva, Arizmendi, Joaquin, Vicente in more advanced positions on the wings. If they were to drop back, that would be an even further glut. We need DEFENDERS.. competition for Moretti, another CB to push Helguera further down the line, backup for Timo, possibly a Villa replacement (I think we might lose him too.. he’ll have an awesome Euro and we’ll get 40m for him)

  We need reinforcements in quite a few positions:

  I was going to say Central defender but I just realized with Alexis fit again, we will have 3 players for 2 spots - Alexis, Albiol and Marchena which is good enough.
  Helguera as a backup.

  We definitely need a solid left full back - Moretti isnt good enough.
  For right back we have Caneira and Miguel.

  We need a defensive midfielder - apart from Maduro, we have none and all the midfielders mentioned above are more in a attacking mould. Do you guys think Sunny is a good enough backup for Maduro?

  Also, I dont have much faith in Baraja or Edu as a creative midfielder and David Silva is better on wings.
  So, even if Pablo Hernandez comes back, we have two young players, Banega and Pablo H. as creative midfielders
  which doesnt augur well, as IMO this is a very vital position.

  So reviewing the list - one left back(Taiwo?), one creative midfielder/playmaker(would be happy with VdV)
  and one DM (unless we put faith in Sunny).
  Not too much to ask for, right?
  And of course if Villa leaves, then a quality striker.

  VdV is the perfect replacement for Aimar who you guys are still missing, even down to the frustrating inconsistencies and injuries.

  And for the love of god, PLEASE do not sell Villa to Real Madrid. I wish Barca would get rid of Henry to make room for Villa but it’s just not possible, I don’t want to see him wasted in England and want Valencia to keep him but if he must go, make sure it’s not to Madrid…

  If he’s going to leave make sure it’s EPL, we’ll make lots of cash. Plus he won’t come back to hurt us (well, maybe in the CL):D

  Daniel your right, we have alot of midfielders, and thts why koeman said that a lot of players are gona be out of valencia, there is absolutly no reason to keep so much players and pay them, so they will cost the club a lot of money, plus the faqct that most are not talented players, so with the money that we are going to pay them we can get two really great players ,doesn’t matter in what position. Riise is hinting to leave Liverpool, so im guessing we get him instead of moretti, plus Lucio from Bayern, so im guessing there are quality players to choose from. i think our shopping list should be…
  1. MARTINS from New castle( instead of Zigic and morientes) he would be perfect next to Villa, he powerful shoots, fast, strong body, plays very well with his feet.
  2. RIISE left back ( instead of Moretti).
  3. Van der vaart
  4. KAMENI GK from espanyol. or AMELIA (from livorno) i asked a friend that follows closley Seria a.. and he told me tht AMELIA is really what is saving Livorno from losing! he is a very solid GK.(as my AC Milan fan friend he said)

  un golazo de villa. viva la furia roja! are you guys really thinking about this Livorno keeper? no way we should get rid of Timo, the man who singlehandedly saved the King’s Cup tie against Barca and made miraculous saves against Real last weekend. we do need lucio and vdv, but not any keepers. if villa leaves, i’ll seriously be very depressed–tears may be in the making.

  I hope Villa stays, simply put he is the only irreplaceable player in our team. There isn’t any striker in the world that we can realistically buy who can replace him. I hope we revert back to a 442 and hopefully then we can see the best of Villa, because in a 433 he’s way too isolated, perhaps a 442 with Mata behind him and Silva as a fake left winger…
