Breaking News: Juan Soler OUT as President
By: Cesar | March 12th, 2008
So that’s that.
According to reports all over the internet, Juan Soler has resigned as president of Valencia.
According to MARCA, Agustin Morera is the new club president.
It’s still unclear if Soler will sell his shares in the club. What is known is that, according to Soler, ‘my decision is irrevocable and the motive is the state of my health.’
Soler’s seen good and bad times as Valencia chair.
The good involve going deep into the Champions League last season and the construction of a new stadium, the Nuevo Mestalla.
The bad? Well, the long list includes the current crisis with Ronnie ‘Tintin’ Koeman, the QQ Sanchez Flores-Amedeo Carboni war, the Claudio Ranieri days and the firing of club legends Santiago Canizares and David Albelda.
So after 3 1/2 seasons, Soler is out.
If it’s because of his health, as Soler said, I wish him well. I wish him a very speedy recovery.
In any case, the guy loved the team. We can criticize him, condemn him and complain about his actions. But at the end of the day, he wore the colors as much as any of us.
Now, what about the new president? I don’t know anything about him. Someone out there know something?
Also, will Soler keep his shares? And if he does, as virtual owner of the club, will anything really change?
His last statement today was telling.
‘It was a pleasure to share these times with all of you … ¡Amunt Valencia!’
Amunt, indeed! May Soler be healthy. May the departure of the president give us a new lease on life.
What do you all think?

The administration doens’t get involved with the coach and his dicision of players and his vision of play.. not like Chelsea.. nosy adm. is never good! hope the best would happen!!! AMUNT !!!

Without even reading the article (ie. just the headline), I did a fist pumping shout of “C’mon!!!!”

Now after having read the article, I hope Soler gets well soon. Perhaps a jog will do a bit of good. He is a bit on the puffy side.
Seriosuly, the best thing he has done seems to be of direct financial benefit to himself; Nuevo Mestalla. The rest as Cesar pointed out is just bad. Since taking the reigns Valencia have gone 7th, 3rd, 4th and currently 9th. Not exactly awe inspiring compared to what else we acheived in the early years of the millenium.
Agustin Morera also seems to be a buddy-pal of Soler the way he talked about him at the press conference also.

I, like others, have mixed feelings regarding Soler’s resignation. Get well–and let’s move on. On that note, we need to swoop Jose Antonio Reyes, who is supposedly on the outs in Madrid: http://www.goal.com/en-US/articolo.aspx?contenutoid=618717
Although he is having a lackluster season–they barely play him because they have Forlan and Kun–he helped pushed Real to the title last year and was a mainstay in la furia roja. We will need forwards next season, as Villa will likely leave and Morientes is old, not to mention Zigic has been unimpressive. Let’s get him and Van Der Vaart in the summer, put this miserable season behind us and go after La Liga. AMUNT.Posted from

Get well soon Soler. Good man, not too god at running a club, but good man all the same. I hope the new bloke doesn’t fire Koeman (until the end of the season that is).

ronald koeman is wrong choice, just like qq s.flores, but our biggest problem are bad signings this season,i would rather say catastrophic:žigić,manuel fernandes..ever is very good player and mata too.We need ‘old’ vicente and miguel

im very optimistic on the signing of Koeman in the Summer. he sees to have a nice vision with players.!! BAnega and mudoro,, nice choices! the problem tht prevented him in my point of view, is that good defenders werent able to be lett out by thier clubs due to the fact tht each club is trying to prove himself and get better. OR they r realy expensive wich Koeman didn’t have tht kinda money!! i think with 1 good middle defence and left back with miguel and alexis.. our defence would be like a building!!! we need van der vaat! and i no this is wierd and maybe not a lot of people would agree, but juaquin… i dnt know, he seems to lose the ball all the timme and dosn’t get the job done like crosses or even shots on goal he needs competition. im not saying get rid of him but he needs to be threatened, like if ur not playing well ur out, so he gives it all he got… just my point of view.

Ali…i agree with you. i have watched joaquin from his betis days and he was never the great or even good crosser his strengh is beating defenders but he tends to be really lazy…angulo’s sacking has proven to allow him to relax a bit…so u are right. don’t know who recalls it but koeman favoured angulo at first because of his work ethic on the field and he told joaquin that he needed to accumulate more distance travelled on the field cause he showed little effort on the field.

Finally!
I think Soler is a rather charismatic person and i liked him just as aperson, but he couldnt succeed as a president So let him go and recover soon.
So from now and then he is a historical page in life of Valencia.
Agustin Morera looks like an ambitious person, but i don,t really know him, it’s just my impression from his photoes.
I agree with Ali Joaquin needs competition and so do others.
What about future, i’m not agree with Ali’s first comment, wheer ha said he wished Aldelda and Canizarez come back. I think you agree thet Canizarez has been one of the brightest people in Valencia history among Kempes, Mendieta and others. He has twice become a Trofeo Zamora Winner (La Liga best Keeper), But he is 38. And we have Hildebrand, he is cool too. If Canizarez came beck maybe he would star a year or two, but today or tomorrow we would have a golie problem. So let Hildebrand become a star keeper and remember Canizarez as a gret person and player.
What about Albelda, I would be happy to see him in the squard soon, but Koeman said that will never happen. So if Morera wanted to bring the bright capitan back, there will be a new war between Koeman and president, so let’s escape from it and let new leaders to improve the team.
Amunt Agustin Morera, Amunt Valencia!!!!!!!!!Posted from

HALLO ALI, YOU SEEM TO BE MISSING SOMETHING, with your love of Koeman. Has there been any other Trainer in the Liga that has gone from 4 points from the top to now 26 points. He has managed (apart from sacking 3 good players) to lose 22 points. Has any other Trainer done this and lived to tell the tale ? Over the same period,
Biasi, with Levante at the bottom, (with players leaving because they are not getting paid) has gained twelve points despite disastrous refereeing. The sooner Koeman goes, the better. Please let us not have this goon next season………AlmendrasPosted from

i dont know if it is good or bad , i think it doesn’t matter
he sold Aimar but he bought Juaqin,Banega,Timo,Maduro,Arizmendi
he sold Rafa
He Kept Villa,Sliva
so he had some good days and later Bad Ones
i hope Next Days will be full good OnesPosted from

Tintin veta ya! What the hell was that! koemans lineup sucks, his tactics are awful and he does not know were his players are best suited in the on the pitch!?

Have just seen the match, and I sincerely believe that the players were more to blame than Koeman, starting with Baraja. David Villa was disappointing too, I wonder if he’ll be around next season.
Things got better after Joaquin came on, but the link-up play in Sevilla’s third of the pitch was dismal. And it has to be said that Sevilla played well and deserved to win.

Hi, against a quality team like Seville, it is essential to come on fully armed with all your top experienced players from the start and not hoping to catch up later on. Maduro had the ball taken away from him all the time and missed a sitter in front of the goal. Hildebrand made some good saves but I am afraid the 1st goal was bad goalkeeping. He waited ON the line for the goalkick
and when he reached for the ball he was inside his own goal and so when he deflected the ball it stayed in the net.A goalie must leave himself some space to manoevre.
They played with some gusto in the 2nd half and if they come out in this fashion against Barca I think they can pull it off as Barca are a very poor standard at present.
If they dont then at least we wont have Loeman next year.
Adios……….AlmendrasPosted from
