Bad Incident Between Players and Fans at Training Ground
By: Cesar | June 13th, 2007
What do we make of this?
A group of Valencia’s Ultra Yomus “Ultra” fans disrupted training, shouting abuse at the players after Saturday’s 4-2 defeat at local rivals Levante.
The supporters hung banners around the training pitch, called the players “money-grabbers” and accused them of making the club a laughing stock.
Striker Fernando Morientes and midfielder David Albelda appeared to bear the brunt of the attacks and had to be restrained by team mates as they reacted to the provocation, exchanging insults.
The fans mocked the players for not running, for not being serious and for making the squad a joke. Cañizares, Morientes, Villa, Albelda … no one was spared. After the verbal attack, the players vehemently defended themselves in a bitter exchange that lasted about 10 minutes, with coach Quique Sanchez Flores restraining many of the victims.
Well this is good for morale, no?
This team is SUCH a mess sometimes. What started as a promising season is quickly dwindling into a circus sideshow. The last game of the season this weekend can’t come quick enough … anyone have more observations about today’s display at Paterna?

Hmmm… maybe this will make Villa want to leave Spain. Our fans would never do that. What about Silva, was he involved?

I’m amazed that fans have that kind of access to training. Is this common? If so, I’m surprised these types of things aren’t more common. Don’t those guys have jobs?

=================================You’re dreaming…This is a tiny percentage of our fans and the players definitely understand this. Villa could hardly run at the end of last Spain match. He was too exhausted and he barely got a rest during all season. Albelda, though, is quite another matter. Judging from this season’s performance, he was in no position to ask for more money. Their accusations of Moro and Ximo demonstrated that they were pure extremist. No one will take their comments seriously.

Those ultras were way to harsh on the players. It’s true that Valencia could have done a little bit more this season but they didn’t deserve this attack. I think they may have even made Albelda cry

Ultras don’t know what they are talking about, I can see that the defeat against Levante, the brunt of many jokes is hard to take, but the team has done very well this season considering the injury crisis. They need kicking out of the Mestalla.
Should be attending the game on Sunday, disappointing to see the likes of Ayala, Canizares and Marchena out of the team, but still should be a good game. Sociedad have it all to do so will be up for the fight. Heres hoping yomus don’t get on the team’s back too much.
