Another Reason to Hate Goal.com
By: Cesar | December 10th, 2008
As if there aren’t 55,000 reasons to hate goal.com, today there’s another as they compared Real Madrid’s latest mess to ours from a season ago.
Besides Madrid being complete laughing stocks and a shadow of their former selves, where’s the comparison?
Valencia were a mess because of Juan Soler’s lack of vision. Madrid? They don’t have a plan, cohesion between their sporting director and president and generally no clue how to buy anyone save a big name (although I could still be sore over our loss of Wesley Sneijder to Madrid last season).
But the comparisons end there.
Valencia ended up near relegation with Dutch Muppeteer Ronald Koeman. We managed to win the Copa Del Rey but promptly sacked the sad excuse for a coach.
Madrid? How about giving Juande Ramos a chance? While I think it’s utter lunacy to have fired Bernd Schuster mere days before El Classico against Barcelona, how do the situations compare?
Valencia’s expectations are much lower than Real Madrid’s. Madrid expect to win the Champions League 10 times every year, win every game and defeat their opponents 10-0 in those games. Valencia’s expectations are a bit more modest: Get into next season’s Champions League, nip a league title here and there, have a bit of fun and see some entertaining football at the Mestalla (for more on the famed Valencia stadium, check out Bob’s comments on our home ground in the previous post).
If that doesn’t happen, it’s time to sack the coach a la Fabio Capello from a few seasons ago.
I think Madrid is run by a ship of fools, head fool being ex-Valencia player Predrag Mijatović, who is Madrid’s version of Ronald Koeman. How they gave this fool keys to the car is beyond my comprehension.
Anyways, this isn’t the Real Madrid blog. This is our Beloved’s blog and I don’t like the comparisons to the sinking ship in the capital city. I doubt they’ll fall as far as we did last season. But why bring up what happened to us as if it’s a funny joke to the readers of goal.com? Like the Villa is off to Man City stories every single hour aren’t enough …
Ok, ok. I took my meds. I’m ok again.
- We have some cash. Financial crisis over.
- Or is it? President Vicente Soriano can’t guarantee they won’t leave.
Since he can’t guarantee it, I will.
Read my words: Villa and Silva won’t be leaving Valencia this season.
Or else Mestalla burns to the ground. There’s no way the fans would ever forgive Soriano or anyone involved with Valencia for losing either of our two stars.
- Timo Hildebrand has a new home. Bundesliga leaders Hoffenheim.
“I want to make a new start in Hoffenheim and regain my old form,” the 29-year-old Hildebrand said. “I am very pleased to be back in the Bundesliga, I did not want to wait any longer.”
Good luck, Timo. We hardly knew ya.
Speaking of which, no new ‘keeper for us until the summer. Seems we’ll have to suffer with Renan’s growing pains for some time longer.
- It’s Espanyol this weekend. More on that in the coming days. Champions League today and I’m off to see if Villarreal can win the group. Amunt!

@ Nilton
thats the way we should do business, get Sportings talent every year, they have a killer-cantera!!!I dont have anything else to say than this: How dare Goal.com make this comparison, may those filthy Madridistas fall down further than Levante, they are a disgrace to football journalism!!!

Lol @ ‘may those filthy Madridistas fall down further than Levante, they are a disgrace to football journalism!!!’
I like that Levante part.
Anyway, goal.com is terrible. I think uefa.com is way better. They make sure the news they have is true before the put it on, and they don’t make stupid comparisons like these. Pfft…Madrid and Valencia?
The only reason they probably think it’s fair to compare them because they are both in the Spanish league. Madrid, even when they suck, are still a bit better than Valencia, in my opinion. I mean, they still are good. No one can deny that, even if we hate them more than we hate C. Ronaldo (I don’t like him, at all. Don’t know many who do).

Madrid probably paid those Zenit guys to lose. Anyway the goals were all mistakes from Zenit and Madrid barely did anything that I would call special (I think they played better against Sevilla). Plus Zenit hit the post twice with the keeper beaten.
Anyway if we arent getting any new goalkeeper cant we at least get a solid CB? Especially with Alexis out until March?

@ Fayez. We just got Carleto.

But he’s an offensive left back, not a CB – we still need one. If only goal.com had a viable alternative; guess I’ll start checking out uefa.com

You know guys, i think we just have to accept we don’t have much money for some decent CB, so we cant expect a great backline this season. But what we at least could do is get somebody on loan, and maybe make it so that we can buy him after the season. At least we would have a CB than, instead of playing DMF’s as CB and midfielders as backs…
@ Timothy
yeah, i removed Goal.com from my bookmarks now, pretty weird cause they cover a lot and i check them every day. But this is a principle thing, so let’s start searching alternatives (next to Marca, LP and SD)

My God what a lot of `Old Glory` has been written about Mestalla the last couple of days on this site. It is a pity the Valencia fans dont look at it that way. In the stadium for the Brujas match a week ago when Valencia were trying to qualify for the Uefa, there were only 15000 supporters (including Bruja fans) That leaves 40000
empty seats!!! I dont know what the new stadium is for,The fans will be scattered around so far apart they will have to keep in touch with mobile phones.
Looking at things realistically for a moment, this Saturday we play Espanol who are 2 points from the bottom.History will show that is a time for Valencia to lose. Madrid have a new lease of life with the motivation that Shuster`s comments has brought about. They trashed Zenit yesterday, 23 shots at goal, 9 of them on target and 3 goals. With this spirit they could suprise us and beat Barca. This leaves us at 27 and Madrid 29. No way are we going to beat Madrid away from home at the moment that leaves us 27 to their 32.
Only 2 mediocre goalies that must be a first for Valencia, due only to diabolical management. Dumping Canizares and not signing Palop. What do we do in case of goalie injuries? Put Zigic in there jumping up and down spreading his arms and legs?…Adios..AlmendrasPosted from

Anybody can think of a better time to invade espanyol and kidnap Idrees Kameni from them? they arnt playing very well at the moment! they might need money to buy some players to fix thier season! i think it sthe best time to flirt around with Kameni, Valencia should start letting him know that he is wanted him too the rebel inside him wakes up, and end up selling him to to us cheaper. I really think they should get him no matter what his price is just to rest this case once in for all!!

Let me add my reasons why to hate madrid.
1: Whenever there is a big game between 2 big clubs, the prediction is ALWAYS 1-1, or rarely 2-2, or 0-0. But the authors have no guts, they never go for anything other than a draw.
2: They use “shock lead” or “shock defeat” way 2 much. When Sevilla took the lead against Madrid, the author said it was a shock lead, hardly the truth. When Madrid lost to valladolid, they claimed it was a shock defeat.
There is a lot more.

I think Hildebrand was a good keeper. I don’t understand why Valenica hate don’t like the guy. He defiantly has more experience then Renan. Firing him is kind of harsh…

“David Silva of Valencia soccer player, has stated that the “rumors” about the interest from several clubs for chips in the market for winter, help “keep working” in his recovery to play again “as soon as possible.”
I dont know what SIlva means by this,I think he would be knowing that he is going to be sacrificed for valencia’s cause…we need a CB and Stiker..
i dont know if it is a good or bad thing!!!

@ Hawk : I agree he was a pretty good keeper (personally I think he is better than Renan). I think Emery doesnt like him because of the way he talks, I mean he really can be selfish sometimes and I Emery wants the group to be united and work for the same cause not a selfish cause.
@ Siva : I doubt Silva is leaving. Maybe it just means that these rumors reminded him of how good he was so he could work hard to return earlier
@ Johnnie : I agree we cant “buy” a really good CB. We should either settle for some unknown guy or an older player that isnt featuring much. But I think we should get someone for cheap that is better than Helguera. And im pretty sure that wont be so difficult.
