Albelda Loses Case, Banega Arrested …

As the city of Valencia marches towards its annual Las Fallas festival, the city’s #1 club, Valencia CF continue to provide fans with entertainment and rag sheet fodder.
Oh joy of joys!!
Two items today … first off, Albelda’s lost his court case against the club. The former club captain had been seeking to have his contract canceled and compensation of €60m paid.
Well, no can do.
Albelda was told by a judge that his petition on both fronts was not recognized and that neither could be enforced. So what now? He sits and wastes away? He misses his opportunity to play in this summer’s Euro 2008?
What an unfortunate situation for both club and player. Albelda has 5 days to appeal, so let’s see what happens there. More on this soon.
As for Mr. Banega, he’s been enjoying the wild Valencian nightlife a little too much before the Fallas festival.
Valencia said on Monday that Argentine midfielder Banega had failed a roadside alcohol test.
“Banega committed a traffic offense last night and as a result was given an alcohol test where he gave a positive,” the club said on their Web site.
“Until the details of the incident become clear, Valencia will not make any comment. After the local police have completed their procedures the club will open an internal inquiry in accordance with its disciplinary code.”
Uggh … couldn’t the kid have hired a chauffeur? I thought he had 24-hour FBI surveillance tagging him? What gives?
First a porn video, now this … he’s an exceptional player, so let’s hope this settles over soon.
I just wish the drama off the field would end once and for all. I want the winning ways to return to the Mestalla and the soap opera to go back where it belongs, on the pages of MARCA.

cesar why has ever got 24 hour surviellance? ive not heard that.im gutted for albelda.ive said it before koeman could have dealt with this a lot better and then all these problems wouldnt of arisen.

Cesar, I am sorry, but I have big hate for the Koeman and the staff at the club now over Albelda. Koeman, Soler vete ya!
