A Win. A Confused Coach and a Two Game Suspension.
By: Javier | October 29th, 2009
The midweek Copa del Rey match went far better for Valencia than it did for a few of the other top leaguers this week. Though not spectacular the single away goal by Joaquin has placed Valencia firmly in the drivers seat for the upcomming home game.
Joaquin scored a a gorgeous little chip shot to gain the winning goal in the 10th minute of play.
The rest of the match was mostly forgettable.
Fielding a team of backups and freshly recovered players, Valencia did just enough to secure the away goal.
Moya looked unsure inbetween the posts but did manage to keep a clean sheet which is something he has been unacustomed to as of late.
The defence was adequate though Alexis did pick up a injury which saw him carried from the field. It has turned out to be a small fracture but will be available if needed for the weekend.
In the midfield Joaquin Baraja Maduro Jordi all made a show and did a decent job. Jordi’s pass to Joaquin leading to the game winning goal.
Up front Miku and Zigic looked slow and ineffective against a squad that should have been an opportunity for them to shine.
On the lighter side …
Joaquin played a solid match and also scored the winning goal.
However this seems to have come as news to Unai Emery.
During the after match press interview Emery twice said the goal by “Miku”
When this was mentioned to Joaquin he didnt seem pleased but hoped it was a simple mistake.
What game was Emery watching?
Here are the match highlights in case you missed the game.
Well in unfortunate news.
Uefa has decided to hand David Villa a two game suspension from European matches.
This was in response to Villa’s behaviour in the Europa league tie last week. In which Villa kicked out angrily after being fouled.
A club spokesman stated that the punishment is seen as excessive and would investigate any chance at a reduction in the suspension though he felt it was unlikely as the governing body does not tend to rule against their official’s decisions.
Now the good news.
Valencia continue to play on the road this time visiting bottom dwellers Malaga CF.
Malaga are dead last in the league and are having a brutal start to the season.
With only 1 win in 8 Liga matches Valencia should be able to take advantage of their current form and chaulk up another 3 points this weekend and keep pace up top in the league.
Another bonus is that Valencia’s key players all appear to be healthy and match ready with the exception of Marchena.
Oh Oh !!!! The Bullshit British Rumourmill of the minute!!!
Mata is going to Liverpool. According to some tabloid the brits call a newspaper. Benitez has convinced the Liverpool owners to shell out busfare for Mata. And because Valencia are ooooooh sooooo broke and desperate and stupid ect ect ect so for sure he is leaving.
My prediction this weekend.
Malaga 1-3 Valencia
AMUNT VALENCIA!

Ja Ja !!

its enough with one striker on the field. villa more then enough, but we should get someone better then zigic and miku on the bench. not having money makes it hard to do that but with so many scouts they have better eyes then what we see on television and they dont need to cost over 5 mil to be better then miku and zigic. if we could get guiza on loan in januari it would be great, but i wouldnt offer him more then a 2 year deal. we should look out for his age.

I just love the fact that this homegrown boy has come good. Wonderful for Navarro the prodigal son and Pablo, the little risk taker, is from Castellon too. Gritty, crucial 3 points. The team is starting to believe and gel. All good. =)

Villa > Negredo > Guiza > Torres.
Having said that, I think Negredo would have made a decent (although very inferior) replacement of Villa. However we still need someone better than Zigic and Miku our 2nd striker. If we cant get a decent price for Zigic then he should stay, however there is no reason for someone like Miku to even be in our squad.

@Quin
The pitch wasnt that bad….I saw the game on TV too.Although I’ll admit it had some patched especially around the center.Whats important is that we kept another clean sheet.
I mean if Barca cant score then we shouldnt allow Getafe to score.Having said that,it looks good and like I mentioned in the previous post,I still believe we can win the Liga.
Slowly but surely – We are getting there.
I’m not being realistic – Just Optimistic.

Who ever says Guiza is better than Torres is high on shrooms , Guiza has ONLY played well for Mallorca and made some important goals for Spain but Torres went on to perform at Liverpool plus scored way more important goals for Spain including a very difficult finish in the Euro final. Negredo isnt there yet either, but at least has more potential than Guiza.
Love it btw, some here actually know what goes on in the players heads. Negredo seems not to be loyal to anything but Real. I remember him stating for months that it would be a dream to play at Valencia. Since we’re cheap broke ass orange-huggers we couldnt find out a deal, but i would have flown Zigic, Miku, Joaquin and Marchena all together myself to Madrid or where ever if it would mean we had gotten Negredo.

torres is very deadly, not as good as villa, but still very good. but he is like vicente, allways injured. i wouldnt want to have him in valencia becouse of that

Haha….Was gonna comment on that but it skipped my mind.
@Fayez….Really
Guiza over Torres?
C’mon – You must be kidding.
Anyway, the right order (I think) isVilla >> Torress >> Negredo >> Guiza.

im sure there are cheaper and better players in segunda looking for the right scouts. the secound division in france also have some affordable good players. with our financial weakness at the moment its better to gamble on younger cheaper players then go into bidding wars with other clubs for halfgood players. i bet we could replace zigic and miku for less then 5 mil if we look hard enough.

Am in for Bojinov….He is quick quite nimble and quite similar to villa in stature…and he is only 23 so would be a better backup to villa than zigic and miku..

Welcome back JW
…
Bojinov… hmmm… i think he has great potential. He just needs to settle somewhere… and he’s young, so it could work out for us… Wouldn’t mind seeing him or Vedad Ibisevic @ ValenciaPosted from

Yes torres scored the winning goal in Germany. for that im eternally gratefull. However did you see how many he misses for Spain.
They guy will miss or loss the ball constantly.
Villa isnt like that,
Guiza every time he gets subbed on either scored or rattles the keeper.
Torres plays well for Liverpool and shyte for Spain.

I agree with Javier, cmon apart from that final goal what else did Torres do in the Euros? The guy has a million chances each game and scores one every 4 or 5 matches.
Torres does play well for Liverpool I agree..but he wasnt amazing for Atletico and based on the number of games they’ve played with the national team both Guiza and Negredo are better. Im not saying Torres is terrible, but he is extremely overrated.
Of course Villa is another level above all the rest.

- Valencia now have the best away record in the league. After five games, they have won four and lost just once.
- Los Che are on a five-game unbeaten run in La Liga. They have now also gone four games on the trot without conceding a goal.Posted from

Thanks Lloyd
@ Javier & Fayez
Torres might not perform with Spain as well as he does with Liverpool but he is waaaaay better on the pitch than Guiza. The only thing Guiza is good at is being a sub, when he played entire matches he was much worse with chances than Torres. Its not a fair comparison. Its like comparing Zigic to Villa, Zigic scores when he gets on as a sub but kills our play when we play him from the start.Next to that, who díd perform like he should at the Euro’s?? If u suck at that tournament it doesnt mean u suck in general. Regardless of the tactics, the system, the team they play in, its about personal quality of the players and in that case Torres >>>>>>>> Guiza.

Guiza plays in Turkey. No offense to any Turks here, but that league is worse than the top 7 or 8 leagues in Europe. Guiza should be scoring at least 25 goals a season there, but he doesn’t. I think last year he had 13 for Fenerbahce.

i read that juventus are intrested in miguel…a fee of 6 Million is being considered.i say we can sell him helps reduce the wage bill also and also pablo zabaleta the former espanyol RB is on the outer ends at man.city i think we should get him for 3-4 Million…

Nacho Gonzalez returns to training for Valencia…
I hope Emery gives him some minutes in the Europa League or something. He should get a chance to play over Michel, who sucks so bad he has been sent back to the reserves…
