We’re Going Forward, But Where is ‘Forward’?
By: Cesar | March 29th, 2008
Ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Real Mallorca (in my opinion, one of the more important matches of the season … we need to continue on our winning ways), I have the great pleasure of stepping aside and giving the mic to a fellow Valencianista, the great Gevorg, whose comments you’ve undoubtedly read on the blog …
Take it away, Gevorg! And thanks!!
Hi everybody, I’m Gevorg and thank you Cesar for publishing my article.
We are having a difficult season, but still nothing is clear. Too many important things happened lately.
Koeman became our manager, no matter if the fans want him or no.
Agustin Morera is our president now, instead of Soler.
And we’ve had an awful season, though we’ve won 2 last great matches and qualified for the Copa del Rey final.
This is the reality. Progress in the last 2 months is a fact. The question about which we argue most of all is: “Should Koeman stay or leave the club in summer?”
What do you think?
The opinion of all of us is important as fans have been disappointed lots of times lately, and I think Morera will do everything to be loved and respected.
But listen, Koeman was one of the best when he was a player and he has won several trophies as a manager.
I can conclude he is lucky! Must he stay or no?
We don’t need new changes, we need results.
Everything has changed since summer 2004 when Valencia was “El mejor equip de la terra” (The best team in the world) as it’s said in the hymn. And our permanent changes haven’t brought result for 4 years. So we need to continue a job we have started!
So I say: “Koeman should stay and continue and I’m sure he will succeed in 2008-2009 season”.
Koeman has lost more than a dozen matches, but he hasn’t disappointed. He has always said that the team is going in the right direction and improving.
He is sure in the job he is doing. So let him do it.
He has brought Maduro, Banega, they are cool.
He axed Albelda, Canizares and Angulo. That’s the thing I don’t like in his behavior.
But it has already happened and now we aren’t the team we had and loved in the beginning of the 2007-2008 season.
Today’s Valencia is the team we love. So let it develop.Actually the team he is managing beat Barca and Real 3:2 in a week.
An important thing is also our our transfer policy in 2008 summer window.
I think we need a left back, an attacking midfielder and a forward (if Villa or Morientes leave).
But I wish to have an attacking pair: “Villa and Morientes”.I think it’s interesting to see what other Valencia fans and our blog-friends think. So, please comment:
1. Should Koeman stay?
and
2. What transfers do we need?
Amunt Valencia!!!
Thanks Gevorg! Much appreciated, as I haven’t the time to write an article …
So, what do you all think?
I’ll begin by answering the questions …
1 - Should Koeman stay? I’m wavering, lads. A few weeks ago, I was of the opinion he should be fired immediately. Since changing tactics somewhat, reverting back to an old-style Valencia system implemented by the likes of Benitez and Cuper, the team’s looked much better … so call me a flip-flopper but I think we should see how the next few games play out … That’s why the momentum of the last few weeks can’t be derailed by a Mallorca loss. We need to beat this team …
2. What transfers do we need? How much time do you have?
Well, since I’m of the opinion that Villa’s done after this season, we need a striker. Besides, Morientes isn’t getting any younger and Zigic is flying the coop for Real Sociedad. So we’ll need at least a few backups.
Then, of course, I think we need some defenders. And my wish is still to import a creative midfielder in the Van Der Vaart form … I know Banega fits that bill somewhat, but Van der Vaart would give us something we haven’t had since the days of Pablito Aimar …
I’m off … thanks again to Gevorg! And AMUNT!!!!

Let’s see how Valencia does in the last few games of the season to judge Koeman. You must remember that we went from 4th place to 11th now when Koeman became manager so right now I would like him to leave but if theres a great improvement in the next games he should be given another chance for next season!
We need a good attacking midfielder i’d love a Diego type from Werder Bremen… As for a striker I would go for Mario Gomez from Stuttgart who is outstanding
We need to reinforce the defence aswell…

I liked how Koeman worked from the start, i remmeber him giving confidence to
1. Angulo( he runs the most in the team) and tht was a last chance for him.
2. Albelda ( he said tht he has talked to albelda privatly as the leader of the team.
3 Canizares, he gave him his starting place and said tht Goalkeeper is a very important position and thus it cannot be changed each game.To us we though he was doing what every coach does, bringing confidence and thts what he did, but he had a plan B which was if they dint take the last chance they got they will be axed, and i thing they dint impress him!!!
Loco no offence to you but who ever says that when QQ was our coach we were 4th and now Koeman is here and now we r 11th place is stupid and he needs to use his bean brain!!! Did you people see how the hell we won when QQ was a coach, we won by PURE LUCK!!! 90% of the games, is QQ was our coach we would have been down with LEvente right now! When Koeman arrived he broght the fighting spirit back to the Los Che and no one can disagree! we were motivated again! we played from our hearts! but we dint have luck!
Dont forget our stupid defence this season so its not the coach’s fault if he has bunch of losers as defenders, what is he supose to do…grow a good defender from the backyard alng with th cucumbers and tomatos???!!?
Koeman came to a team when the players
1-were not motivated
2- were losing always
3- Players were not following rules
4-poor defence
5- injuries
And then you expect Koeman to turn his Magic stick and over come all of that!
So obviously im in Koeman’s side, i think he should stay
As for the transfer market
Martins from Newcastle instead of Morientes
VDV
Riise from Liverpool
Lucio from Bayern MunichPosted from

Valencia’s curse is now staying at Barcelona lool.

With the squad Valencia has it shouldn’t be in 11th place and before the Copa del Rey match v Barcelona there was no motivation at all

this is pathetic. i would say that we our the most inconsistent team on earth, but that would be a lie. we are consistently bad. our defense is a joke, koeman is a flippin idiot for not either starting joaquin or putting him in at halftime. arizmendi, barring his goal last week, should not bhe starting in front of joaquin. and if koeman tries to do to him what he did to the old three then we need koeman’s head on a plate. whether koeman stays or not will indeed be seen in the last games, and of course, the cup final. but if we can sign a premier coach like mourinho, then it should not even be a question–koeman would have to go, and in a hurry. with this lapse today, i am disgusted. but this is not a new sentiment in this hellish season. sigh.

Morientes, Hilguera, MOretti should really go, and not that juaquin is C.Ronaldo or something, he couldn;t get past Hector through out the game for gods sake, so now its Koemans mistake cuz he dint start Juaquin? please! Defence Defence Defence!
HeHE i think the bats play better at night! They are not really a Morning people! LoooL and SIlva doesn’t score in an open goal! what a joke! Oh its Koeman’s fault silva cant shoot well. Oh wait lool one of our players shoot also in an open goal!!! FUCK That!!!its not Koemans fault players cant fucking kick in an empty goal!Posted from

Pathetic display today… I think this seals Koeman’s fate!
Arizmendi was horrible, Juaquin should have started

im still not right yet after fallas,im gonna need more time.my ears still hurt.
koeman has to go,its not open for debate, the bloke couldnt run a bath. we have some rather average players that need a coach to encourage them, koeman is all ego,¨ive won more trophies than most here¨
oh thats all right then, that really helps motivate players.i cant stand the bloke,
ali
i think koeman has made all of your five points worse,i cant see one thing he has improved on.results speak,we were 4th when he took overPosted from

Bob, I completely agree. With that kind of stupid arrogance, Koeman has to go ASAP! I feel the players desperately need an inspirational coach and one that has the style that fits their talents.

So Mallorca records their 1st ever win at the Mestella and its a whooping 0-3.
My Question is - What if QQ hadnt won 5 of his 1st 6 games?
Im beginning to cherish those 15 points like hell now.
We’d sure be in the relegation scramble right now.
I never thought Koeman should stay - Not even after the Madrid win.You cant judge a coach by one win.
Personally,I think we should leave him till after the Copa and then Fire him.
He doesnt have what he takes.Posted from

KOEMAN VETE YA!

I don’t think Joaquin is C Ronaldo, but he is one of the most talented wingers on earth, and certainly better than Arizmendi. Is that up for debate? He wouldn’t have saved them a win today, but it simply showed poor judgement on Koeman’s part. Our defense is terrible, which is why I said our defense is a joke. Koeman has to prove himself before the season’s out.

Timothy,
I think Koeman’s time to prove himself has passed. Lucky breaks (on Koeman’s behalf, moreso passion on the players) against Barca and the Evil Empire cannot excuse the rest of the year. This loss against Mallorca is textbook according to the Koeman era. Yes, our defence is bad, but no worse than Mallorca.
Simply, we strted 4th when QQ left (no denying from me that he needed to go as well) and we are now 12th. 6 points from relegation. We should be in Villareals spot.
KOEMAN VETE YA!!!

QQ left the team in chaos. Koeman shouldn’t be blamed totally for the chaos now but he is responsible. Our defence sucks, and he did nothing to change it whatsoever.
We had good results in Copa, and I don’t know why. The win against Madrid was more luck than tactics. If only they had seized the chances…
I say we first go after some coaches. Koeman is not good, but I certainly don’t want anyone worse than him. If there isn’t any good replacement available, let’s keep him and see what he can do in the next season. Though I’m not hopeful.
