Quick Bits
By: Cesar | March 17th, 2008
I don’t have anything in particular to say, but I have some time on my hands.
Here, my latest installment of tidbits …
– David Villa. The Chosen One. The Saviour. The Great Striker We Lacked in The Glory Years … the man who is ready to take his services elsewhere.
According to today’s MARCA, El Guaje will seriously listen to offers to move away from the troubled ‘As The Mestalla Turns’ soap opera this summer.
“I have always listened when there have been offers and I am still determined to do what is best for my career, but of course with the consent of the club as I have a contract,” he explained.
“I have to think about my future and that is what I am going to do. I will listen to anything, like I always have.”
The latest team to be sniffing around the Asturian striker is Tottenham Hotspur.
Can you blame him for leaving? The lad wants to win trophies. He wants to be involved in the Champions League, etc. (Not that Tottenham will offer him that … ) He wants to see his club moving in a positive direction. I don’t blame him one bit.
That being said, maybe if he played with more passion and drive, we’d be doing better. He seems to have lost in interest in being here. That’s never a good sign.
Also, think of the last few Valencia legends who’ve left. Where are they now?
Mendieta?
Farinos?
Gerard?
Ayala?
Piojo? (Who is now in the MLS with the Kansas City Wizards! I have to go watch him play …)
The point is, he’s replaceable. If you want to go, go. And good luck.
– I didn’t realize Ronnie ‘TinTin’ Koeman said ”I’ve won more trophies than some people here,” during his press conference a few days ago. What’s up with that??
I know Ronnie’s done some important things in his playing career, winning the Champions League with Barcelona a few years back and what not, but where’s the class in that statement?
And why is this vitriol and anger not more apparent in his squad, who are lacking that killer instinct so needed these days?
– Vicente is injured again. I know what you’re thinking: NO WAY!
– Ever Banega is back from filming adult movies. The young Argentine missed out on our defeat to Sevilla at the weekend due to a muscle strain, but is set to return to the squad in time for the Cup encounter Thursday against Barcelona. Let’s hope he doesn’t drink before the match …
– More fun stuff for you to think about? According to As.com, we’re only 4 points from the drop into Segunda. Fun fun!! Bet we’d do well there, though. Hey, at least there’s one competition we could qualify for next season … Hercules and Sporting Gijon, here we come!
– There are only 5,000 tickets left for Thursday’s semifinal clash with Barcelona. The Agrupación de Peñas, the group that runs the supporter’s clubs, are preparing a giant tifo, or stadium placard, that will consist of 30,000 different parts. Huge! Should be a good one.
I so hope we win Thursday … we really need the morale boost.
I may joke but I want nothing to do with the Segunda.
I have NO faith in TinTin avoiding the drop …

I think Koeman should go. I know some of his defenders would say that we are merely removing the symptoms and not the cause of the problems if we were to remove him, but I think if he leaves, that would help change the attitudes and negativities surrounding the club. I highly doubt the club and the players have gotten over the sacking of our favourite trio, and I know its a bit presumptuous to say this, but I think the players have been deeply affected by Koeman’s and Soler’s actions thus far.
I don’t know how the club is going to recover from all the problems plaguing us this season. Honestly, every other day I pick up the papers and there would be something wrong coming out from the Valencian camp. It has come to the point where I’m no longer surprised when I hear about players misbehaving or us playing badly, in fact I’d probably be more stunned if we won at all.
I think what we need is a coach who is able to inspire our players to get back into form. Our players seem to be playing as if they’ve got lead in their boots and I just don’t see the drive anymore.
Regarding Villa, I would be a little bit sad if he were to leave but that would probably last for only a day or two. He’s been practically invisible this season, like most of our players actually, and he seems to be really unhappy here. If he thinks he can achieve in Spurs what he can’t achieve here, then good luck to him. No regrets.
I apologize for the long post, pent-up emotions. BTW, great blog Cesar!

If we fall into La Segunda, we could at least sell about half the squad, make some good cash, field a team of Angulo, Arizmendi, Helguera, a couple youth players, and while we’re at it lets buy some other washed up players like Salgado, bring back Kluivert… no need to finish, you see where I’m going with this..

Valencia is now the new Deportivo/R.Sociedad./Celta Vigo.
From title contenders to relegation stugglers.
I wonder what would have happened if QQ hadnt won 5 of his first 6 matches!!!!Posted from

If Villa goes Valencia won’t win anything for years. At 8mil he was buy of the century. You can’t blame him - the club has cocked everything up.

At least one good news. Valencia is compliting 89 years today, 18 march, being founded at the same day in 1919. The club has won 6 leagues, 6 Copa del Rey cups, 1 Spanish Supercup, 1 UEFA cup, 2 Fairs Cups, 1 winners Cup, 2 European Supercups.
Totally_19 trophies.

i just want to comment on 2 points
1. “He seems to have lost in interest in being here.” WE DO SUPPORT VALENCIA , WE DONT SUPPORT VILLA , AIMAR , AYALA ,……. We Just love them , But it is all about VALENCIA , what is better for us , what will make us stronger . he want to go , then go we still have Aaron Niguez he is from our youth he wont cost us as villa from Zaragoza
2. Sporting Gijon u think we can beat them ,, just wish they dont have another Villa (Zaragoza Bought him from Gijon)

Mendieta is retired, Gerard is with Recreativo, Ayala is at Zaragoza, and Farinos, I don’t know where he is…
It’s time to sell Villa! Time to cash in I think, and rumor has it Tottenham are also interested in Albelda.
Life won’t be too bad without Villa- I imagine Silva, Morientes and Joaquin will be in the starting eleven, with Mata, Vicente, Zigic and Pablo Hernandez on the bench (though if Koeman is still around by the start of next season Zigic might be playing his football somewhere else).

i love david villa. i, like many of you, have seen him do some spectacular things. i will be extremely depressed to see him go–it will truly be a sad day. he, in similar fashion to albelda, represents valencia for me. we need mourinho to persuade him to stay, but good luck with that.
