A Black Day for our Club
By: Cesar | February 22nd, 2008
I don’t want to say too much about the court case ripping our club apart. It’s just disgusting to me.
But for those that don’t know, former captain David Albelda and Valencia CF are in court today to resolve the dispute over coach Ronald Koeman’s decision to sideline him for the rest of the season.
Albelda wants to leave. Valencia want him to leave, but on their conditions. The club have demanded Albelda sign an agreement preventing him from joining any of Spain’s major clubs if he wants a release from his contract.
DiarioSport says during talks yesterday, Albelda offered to drop his 40 million Euro compensation demands, while Valencia were prepared to rip up his contract – which still has over three years to run.
However, the meeting quickly broke down when Valencia chief Rafael Salom demanded that Albelda sign a document which would mean he could not commit to clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.
Albelda is insistent on being allowed to choose his next destination, particularly after the way he has been treated since the arrival of coach Koeman.
So the case is in court today.
“He has obliged the club to go to court,” a statement from Los Ché declared. “It has been our will to try and reach an agreement in order avoid this. We believe that the true intention of the player and his agents was not to arrive at an agreement, but to seek a pretext before the fans and the media. Valencia have tried to find a way to a solution.”
Uggh … what a disgusting, horrible display from the club.
Is this for real? Is this really happening?
How could the team I love, the team I’ve adored from so far away do this to one of its icons?
It’s pathetic and detestable. What right-minded footballer would want to come here after this? After the way the club president has run the club into the ground?
Albelda’s not perfect. He’s certainly done enough to get sent to the bench; become a marginal player.
But he didn’t deserve this. Canizares didn’t deserve this and neither did Angulo.
Who would have thought at the beginning of the season we’d be …
1 – Fighting for an Intertoto spot.
2 – Be suing our captain.
3 – Be out of Europe entirely.
4 – Build a wall around our training ground.
5 – Have gotten rid of one of our star transfers, Manuel Fernandes.
6 – Not played our other star transfer Zigic nearly enough.
7 – Be struggling against the minnows of La Liga.
8 – Have fired our coach (well … we could have predicted that)
9 – Have fired three of our best players.
10 – Have caused a rift in the team by asking other players to testify against their captain in the aforementioned court case …
Is this make believe?
Is this really happening?
I’m so furious at the people running Valencia CF right now. They’re awful.
You make me sick!

Wow, you really paint the club in such a negative shade of black. If you want to celebrate fallen idols and live in the past, that’s your choice. But to be so negative? Why? Sure, Soler is no genius and the jury is still out on Koeman, but when a team is in transition as Valencia currently is, then I think it’s not terribly productive to rope your hopes onto the wagon of fading stars. Angulo doesn’t count in that equation.
It’s fine to have passion, but I think you’re too emotional about this. Really, is, and I quote ‘you make me sick!’ that appropriate? Valencia isn’t being tried at the Hague for human rights violations now is it?
I know times seem to be a bit tough, but try and get some perspective.

I’m negative because the club is playing awful and it’s been an awful season … am I wrong?
My rope isn’t hitched to a wagon of fading stars. But they weren’t treated right in this whole ordeal. A little bit of common decency would have been nice. An amicable departure would have been nice. What other club treats their ex-stars the way Valencia did with these guys? It’s incredible the way this entire ordeal has played out …C’mon. Get some perspective! I’m being emotional but I’m not here crying about the situation … it’s a blog! I’m writing my opinion! Don’t take me too seriously here! Ya, I’m not happy with what’s been going on, but I think you’re reading too much into what I’m saying! It’s a forum for my opinions, nothing more.
And speaking of emotional, if the club won the CL and I celebrated, would that be too emotional? So what’s wrong with saying the firing of these 3 guys was done improperly and putting some passion behind my words?

A classic example of what not to do to a club.

Wow, that’s enough drama for an entire league. Hang in there, things will get better. I mean, they couldn’t get much worse, right?

Hoser needs to take a break. Valencia is in the crapper and it’s all due to their chairman and current coach. Take off the rose colored glasses. Cesar I got your back.
