Soler is Gone and Other Tidbits

By: Cesar | Comments 34 Comments

The nightmare is over. The King is dead.
Former Valencia president Juan Soler (pictured with dapper dresser and former coach QQ Sanchez Flores) made it official last night. He’s officially stripped himself of any involvement with the football club.
HOORAY!!!!!!
His share package now passes to former rival Vicente Soriano, who has a few years in [...]

My Beloved Club: What’s Become of You?

By: Cesar | Comments 43 Comments

Excuse this rant, but I’m about ready to explode regarding the events of yesterday’s reunion between Juan Soler and Juan Villalonga …
As many of you know, Villalonga is out as CEO after 2 weeks, Soler is selling his shares to Vicente Soriano, a board member who has been trying to buy the club for [...]

Defining Day in Valencia History

By: Cesar | Comments 14 Comments

Oh my … Valencia has just become the Titanic … we’re the laughing stocks of the football world …
It’s been a madcap day in Valencia as Juan Soler and Juan Villalonga have been locked in negotiations, meetings and press conferences trying to figure out the future of our beloved club.
I’ve lived through gut-wrenching [...]

Turmoil and Chaos

By: Cesar | Comments 13 Comments

While Valencia CF goes through their daily training sessions in preparation for the season (interesting choice by coach Unai Emery in taking the players to the beach to train yesterday), turmoil and chaos reign in the back office.
But isn’t that what we’ve come to expect from this club?
Today, word that CEO Juan Villalonga [...]

Just when you think it’s safe to wear your Valencia kit without fear of ridicule comes word that our star players, David Villa, David Silva and Joaquin are back on the transfer market.
So in the span of one week, we went from new CEO Juan Villalonga telling us we’re keeping our stars to owner [...]

Mestalla Noisiest Stadium in Europe

By: Cesar | Comments 26 Comments

While I could write about the Samuel Eto’o transfer rumors (yawn) or the possibility of Luis Aragones replacing Unai Emery as head coach (whatever …), I thought this was infinitely more interesting …
According to Setanta Sports, Valencia’s Mestalla is Europe’s noisiest stadium.
Here’s what they have to say:
1. Mestalla, Valencia
The Mestalla is [...]

Fixtures 08/09

By: Cesar | Comments 23 Comments

So the schedule for the new season is out …
Looks like Unai Emery’s boys will have a tough go at it near the end of the season, when many of Spain’s top clubs will be meeting Los Che for the right to carry the La Liga Championship in their back pocket.
This being the [...]

Where To Get Proper Valencia News

By: Cesar | Comments 10 Comments

In light of yesterday’s stupid, inane news item about Valencia in MARCA, I thought it would be wise to share where I get proper, legitimate Valencia news.
I’ll also list where I connect with like-minded fans.
Forums and discussion groups can be wonderful places to get breaking news and connect with fellow Valencia supporters.
I’ve [...]

MARCA and Yellow Journalism

By: Cesar | Comments 17 Comments

Does MARCA have anything better to do?
The veritable Spanish sports daily/bird cage liner must be bored after the exaltation of the Euro 2008 championship. When they’re not trying to speed the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to their beloved Real Madrid or trying to coax Raul onto the national team, they grow bored and despondent. [...]

Q and A with David Albelda and News

By: Cesar | Comments 15 Comments

David Albelda has been in football purgatory for some time now. He looks happy in the photo with Vicente, but it’s been some time since he’s smiled football-wise.
Since ex-gaff Ronald Koeman sprayed his scent around the Mestalla and fired Albelda, Santiago Canizares and Angulo, the three have been in limbo, neither here nor there. [...]
