Heating Up
By: Cesar |A little bit of news here, a little bit of news there …
- Item: Valencia lose out on Forlan, Cesc (?), target Belletti, Caneira returns.
Our beloved look to lose Villarreal poacher Diego Forlan to Atletico Madrid, who are in dire need of a striker now that El Niño Fernando Torres is off to Liverpool. [...]
All Quiet on the Levante Front
By: Cesar |Things are quiet on the Valencia front and that’s a good thing considering the barrage of news that hit us the past few weeks.
But we got some good news today as new signing Alexis Ruano was strutted around the Mestalla after his official signing.
He’s young, he’s Spanish, he’s a great reader of the [...]
Lots to Say, But Not Really …
By: Cesar |It’s been some time since I updated the blog. But that’s not because I didn’t have anything to say. It’s because I needed things to simmer, to percolate in my brain, to swish around and gather moss, to …
Oh! There’s not really much going on. Let’s admit it! But then again, there is!

Quique Si! Carboni No!
By: Cesar |It’s official, as in posted on the Valencia CF website … Quique stays, Carboni’s out.
A new sporting director will take over. New players will be coming in.
Frankly, I was hoping they’d both leave. Now, we’re in for more Comedy Classics from Señor Flores.
Carboni’s gone. No word if he stays on another basis, [...]
Should I Stay or Should I Go?
By: Cesar |Anyone who knows me knows I like to frequent football message boards, time permitting.
There are some great Valencia boards out there, including foroche.com for the Spanish-speaking fan and soccerpulse.com, which has an overall great site and wonderful Valencia forum.
I’m more partial to the board at Xtratime.com. I’ve been going there for years and have [...]
The End
By: Cesar |There’s lots of time to deliberate and pontificate over the events of this past season.
First off, a sad farewell to Real Sociedad, who gave it their all in a 3-3 tie with Los Che. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the Basque side, who’ll be playing 2nd Division football for the first time in 40 years. [...]
Does This Mean Carboni’s Leaving??
By: Cesar |Ya ya, there’s a game this weekend. Who cares? (Ok, I admit to caring because I’m actually going to be able to watch it at the local pub.)
But in the news of the day, Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen has turned down an offer to rejoin us on a two-year contract. (Read the article [...]
More Trouble in Mestalla Soap Opera
By: Cesar |Look! Another day, another gossip headline! I feel like a reporter for HOLA!, the Spanish gossip rag. Or MARCA …
Anyways, today it was a practice game tussle between heavyweight champion of Valencia David Villa and sparring partner Hugo Viana. What fun!
Luckily, the quick intervening of fellow teammates prevented this from being a full-on [...]
Bad Incident Between Players and Fans at Training Ground
By: Cesar |What do we make of this?
A group of Valencia’s Ultra Yomus “Ultra” fans disrupted training, shouting abuse at the players after Saturday’s 4-2 defeat at local rivals Levante.
The supporters hung banners around the training pitch, called the players “money-grabbers” and accused them of making the club a laughing stock.
Striker Fernando Morientes and midfielder David [...]
The End is Near …
By: Cesar |Nothing good came out of the Valencian derby this weekend.
Save for Levante who ensured they will be playing La Liga football next season after defeating Los Che in an incident-packed derby that saw six goals and four sendings-off.
We lost 4-2 but more importantly, we lost Roberto Ayala. That’s it. El Raton doesn’t even get [...]
